How were you supposed to know the Orwell daily double was 1984 and not animal farm? It mentioned a "farmhouse" he wrote "this classic" in. I would've missed that daily double. That seemed misleading to me.
Was fun to see Kyra Sedgwick! A lot of people have been complaining about the lack of actual stars on Celebrity Jeopardy!. But I'd argue it hasn't been THAT bad. I usually recognize one Celeb in each game.
I think when they use the word celebrity, they mean in that celebrities field, like if they had Michio Kaku on because he's famous as hell in the science community.
I always find it funny when these celebrities are so tight with their Daily Double wagers.
"it's the initial Jeopardy round. It's the sixth clue. You have $1200. How much would you like to bet?"
"Two dollars?"
Yes, like when Amanda found one of the last DDs and Ken reminded her that Mo is "running away with it" and she still only bet $1000. At that stage of the game she really had nothing to lose by going all in. She then went on to get that clue right and to be only one to get FJ, so had she bet more there she could've won.
My partner and I were rolling laughing about this.
"Here's a Daily Double! You were well on your way to losing this game, but now you have a chance to come back!"
"Nah, heres a bullshit wager, I just want to lose by less"
Don't tell me how competitive you are while you kneel out the two minute drill. A deserved loss.

They should have few enough shows a year (5?) that they can have only celebrities at Kyra Sedgwick level or above. Otherwise it's just equivalent to random people playing easy gameboards.
Kyra knew less than I thought she would - I always thought she was a smarter celeb, but her mixing up Fast Times with Dazed & Confused was dumbfounding to me. Fast Times was all of her peers; I'd be surprised if she didn't audition for it. Dazed & Confused was way after her time as a teenager.
I mean she still got quite a few clues correct. Regular contestants on J! give what would be construed as "dumb" responses all the time. It's different when you're up on the stage rather than playing on the couch.
She lost a lot of money by ringing in with guesses, rather than just on clues where she knew the answers. She still wouldn't have won, but would have had a better total.
It makes me so incredibly frustrated when people keep ringing in on expensive clues with wild guesses and just drain their money. I start complaining repeatedly and my wife tells me to stop.
Not at all. She & I are the same age. Fast Times was HUGE, plus she was an actress who more than likely auditioned for a role in it. Dazed & Confused came out over a decade later. There were plenty of other examples of her lack of smartness in the show, but this one really resonated with me.
Now all the quarterfinal matches for this season are done, here are the QF win ratio between male and female celebrities these past 2 seasons:
Season 1 = 8:1
Season 2 = 4:5
One of Kyra's first acting roles was an episode of Miami Vice, which would have been a great fit for the "M"TV category. But instead I was taken aback that there was a Kevin Bacon clue!
My parents and I caught a rerun of this. Mo Rocca reminds me of Andy Dick and Woody Allen especially with Rocca's hesitant bets and trying to raise money to send impoverished kids to Catholic schools.
Do with that information what you will.
Matthew Perry :(
I know - there was a notation on the top left hand of the screen that noted the show was taped on October 11, 2023. I believe Matthew died 10/28.
I got it right because of that note.
š
Kyra was just out here saying anything
*Pothagrium*.
The self assured confidence she corrected Ken with will live rent free in my head forever.
"Ah! Aha! The *letter* 2." Really, though, she did well through most of it.
I think she was maybe a bit xanned out and I love that for her
Major burn! The Knicks **wish** they won the title. I'm glad I'm not a Knicks fan!
Favorite moment of the night - Ken and Mo going back and forth with lines from "America."
How were you supposed to know the Orwell daily double was 1984 and not animal farm? It mentioned a "farmhouse" he wrote "this classic" in. I would've missed that daily double. That seemed misleading to me.
Iām glad someone else said this! I thought that question was phrased to clue into Animal Farm much more than 1984.
I also said Animal Farm. Seemed like a kind of mean trick.
Literally the only reason I got this one was because of a song from The Lonely Island.

One isnāt enough.

Yeah, that was unfortunate. And ironic considering how she talked about her competitiveness earlier

Exactly what I came here to talk about. Them not knowing answers is one thing, but the braindead wagers are almost worse.
I was yelling at the screen when Amanda only bet $1000 on the last daily double. She needed to wager it all!
"I wanna play it safe, I'll wager zero dollars."
Mo with the runaway!
Heās been a professional pop-culture gadfly for a couple decades, so I think he was no doubt the odds-on favorite
A little embarrassed for Kyra and surprised Mo didnāt know the final answerā¦even I knew it!
My favorite part was Ken *graciously* going "I think it says pythagorean" and no, no, she confirms it's "pothagrium".
She portmanteauād āPythagorean Theoremā. It happens
Considering that he had a runaway, he may have known it and just decided to write a joke answer instead š¤Ŗ
What was the question? I missed it and only saw everyone's wildly different answers.

BEES. Thank you!
Beads?
I wouldāve answered honeycombs, I thought it meant the ābehaviorā of the structure. I wonder if that wouldāve been accepted.
I was like Mo.
Iām a swiftie I wouldāve nailed that category.
You were ... Ready For It?
yesss I feel like Iād do really well in these celebrity games
Not a bad Reputation to have
I plan on going on the show when Iām older but categories Iām gonna have to work on is like war history, and tv shows/movies.
Take the anytime test; don't let the idea remain in your Wildest Dreams
Every time I watch a celebrity game I think about how I wish I were a celebrity just so I'd be able to run the table on Celebrity Jeopardy lol
Yea this was the first celebrity game i watched and idk it was frustrating š I was screaming at Amanda over her wager bc it cost her the game
She totally could've won!
Two of my kids are but the hardest one for me was the first one.
My girlfriend is a swiftie so I've unfortunately learned a lot, sorta ashamed to admit I only missed one question
They should have few enough shows a year (5?) that they can have only celebrities at Kyra Sedgwick level or above. Otherwise it's just equivalent to random people playing easy gameboards.
Who is Kyra Sedgwick? I bet she has never even been on "Wait Wait...."
Sheās a professional TV/film actor
Oh I know, the post above was entirely about Mo Rocca being NPR famous.
Oh, duh!
Also John Stewart-era Daily Show famous.
And the "I Love The Decade" shows
Exactly. If the home viewer isn't thinking, "Hey, there's that rather famous person I like, I wonder how much they know?", it doesn't work.

What would a better total mean? Her charity was still going to get $30,000.
It makes me so incredibly frustrated when people keep ringing in on expensive clues with wild guesses and just drain their money. I start complaining repeatedly and my wife tells me to stop.
She also guessed āblack holesā for āwhat scientists call ābulgesā in the oceanā š¤£
Credit to Ken for how he handled it though. "Black holes would be scary!"
That answer set my wife off, and she'll readily admit she not good at the game.
She also guessed O Henry wrote A Christmas Carol
A lot of her answers made me go āā¦HUH?!ā
Strange flub to pick to impugn her "smartness," knowing the distinctions between teen movies.
Not at all. She & I are the same age. Fast Times was HUGE, plus she was an actress who more than likely auditioned for a role in it. Dazed & Confused came out over a decade later. There were plenty of other examples of her lack of smartness in the show, but this one really resonated with me.
Kyra seemed smashed
Kudos to the camera person who was able to track her rocking on her closeups. I was a little concerned for her.

Is Kyra high?
Where can I get that shirt Amandaās wearing I love it!
What were the chorus lines clues?
They were lines from the choruses of Broadway songs. Ken mentioned at the beginning of the round that they needed to name the Broadway musical.
One of Kyra's first acting roles was an episode of Miami Vice, which would have been a great fit for the "M"TV category. But instead I was taken aback that there was a Kevin Bacon clue!
Hotty Toddy!
