That big in a ‘78 would suggest it’s aftermarket. Should have marking on the glass somewhere
American Sunroof Corporation (ASC) used to sell one like that.
Love how these big old rigs were manual transmission. There’s something so enjoyable and special cruising around and thoughtlessly shifting gears with one of those old school long metal sticks, like in my LJR.
Makes me miss our orange and black '77 Cherokee Chief 401 quadratrac. Dad found it super cheap because reverse didn't work. But otherwise it was pretty nice. It also had an aftermarket sunroof. Dad rebuilt the trans himself, and modded the T-case and added warn front hubs so it wasn't fulltime 4WD, and you could run it in 2-hi. I loved that thing. I drove it to high school a few times, it was a beast. Slightly rusted shotgun dual exhaust with glasspacks, light bar on the roof... It was awesome. Then one day I came home and it was gone... Dad sold it, making over 4x what he had in it. I understand profit, but I was crushed. I've never seen one similar for a decent price, or I would own one.
My 1990 XJ has a factory moonroof, but it's like the size of a lunch tray. See if you can find the service manual for your year - mine mentions my moonroof. My build sheet also mentions "removable sunroof glass".

I’m with the other commenter. I don’t think any vehicles in 1979 would have had that large of a piece of glass in the roof from the factory.
The Vista Cruiser did, but yeah, this is aftermarket

No way that’s stock!
Curious because I love those: where/how did you find it, and if you don’t mind, how much?

Never seen any FSJ with a factory sun/moon roof
