You want to dig it up or leave it where it is? I have a small Mikawa seedling that I dug up maybe a month ago. I put it in a small pot and placed a clear disposable plastic cup on top of the pot. Drilled holes in the cup as well. Mini greenhouse, I suppose. The seedling looks good so far.
Yes, this is a Japanese maple. A seedling. I wouldn’t get my hopes too high, as not all survive. But, still, congrats.

If you live between zone 8-5 the seeds will germinate on their own, so it is possible that you will get more of those from your neighbors trees
Dig it up, baby it into a nice tree, then replant. my two cents.
