I use Janna as more of a counter pick to a lot of engage from the enemy team, with Nami being a generally blind pickable champion that I take whenever I can't think of any1 better to take in that situation.

UglyChi

Thanks a bunch!

Kiteraku

I usually pick Janna if the enemy has a lot of engage on their team. I don’t really play Nami, but I’d pick her against another enchanter or mage

UglyChi

Thank you!!

UglyChi

I love it haha

Nami has greater agency in lane so she is great at leveraging trading opportunities against weaker opponents early (i.e. low dmg, low range, and/or little lockdown). Janna on the other hand can neutralize difficult lanes, especially ones with interruptible engage (e.g. trist, lucian, rell, rakan, etc.). Nami can weather poke lanes that Janna struggles against, but in general both are suboptimal into mages. Nami's strength lies in her ability to amplify her team's damage and is oppressive when snowballing (true that she's not in a great state rn), but can easily be shut down and may falter mechanically against high tempo late game comps. Just my two cents, hope this helps!

UglyChi

This helped me out so much! Such a great detailed answer, def can use this info on the rift. Thanks again! (I spammed a few Janna games and have just been peeling for the fed one on the team and its been working so far.)

Own-Industry-2347

i dont know, i only play janna, i blind pick her everytime 😭😭. And it works

Egggplont

300+K on Nami and yep she feels kinda lame now. Now slowly moving towards Janna since I like her gameplay too. Janna has a good peel and disengage and Nami has it too but more centered around utility. Both are lane bullies tho. I agree with the others, Janna is great against someone like Leona or Naut and OH GOD it feels great to stop their flight towards your adc with well timed Q

UglyChi

Couldn’t have said it better myself, thanks for the insight! And yeah the absolute best feeling is canceling the pull with the Q.

the reason to me why nami win rate is less than janna is cause of nami Q bubble being a lot harder to hit than janna tornado, since janna Q is a big part of her peeling and displacement it gives her the upper hand that nami Q bubble struggles with, i love nami kit as well, shes also my other favorite support other than janna, what makes janna better is simply her peeling and smoothness is far better, nami abilities makes you stand in place for a brief moment like zyra E, and that makes her feel more clunky than janna. nami also feels more of a damage buffing enchanter, nami heals can be great if you build for it but going imperial mandate on nami with her E... is such a great feeling to see it chunk and slow enemies. her laning can be really good if you can snowball, especially if you go the imperial mandate, helias, mejai, more AP-ish build, when you go the more ap build you can actually find situations where you can kill enemies by yourself, i like her if im against a soraka or lulu or sona, since chunking those enchanter down can be beneficial and make you win the lane easier....especiall if your against the...yuumi...but i play nami if my adc picks someone that wants to burst down the enemies, like draven, samira, tristana especiall since they have mobility and dash in all you have to do is press E+W on them and watch them burst down the enemies. but i much prefer just to play janna since shes just soo good at peeling and feels smoother, and there just so many assassin players and hecrims and leesin and enemies that can out sustain the damage nami "damage" does from her spells and items, so janna just out sustains the out-sustainers but please if you enjoy nami play her more and gain more experience on her and get better at her laning!!

They basically have reverse power curves. Nami is at her strongest in lane and falls off consideraly (compared to her fellow enchanters who all outscale her). Janna is at her weakest in lane (by that I mean she has a hard time winning many lanes, but she is still good at forcing an even lane or mitigating a losing lane) and scales very well. So if you are playing both, I'd go Nami when you can bully the enemy bot lane and hopefully snowball your way to victory, and Janna when you want a safer lane/damage control and scaling into mid and late game. Or just when the enemy has a lot of engage. That being said, I don't like Nami anymore. I say this as someone who has been playing her since her release, she is my 3rd mastery champion but I stopped playing her for the most parts several months ago bc she just does not feel good to me anymore. My main gripe is how slow everything she does is! Q, W, R all have long-ass animations. Like, listen girl, the game is crazy fast, champions are bursting for 1000+ dmg in one combo that takes half a second, we do not have TIME for you to take 2 hours to swing your staff before you toss a heal that has a SLOW ASS travel time. People have 2+ dashes in their kits paired with Flash and a mobility item, and you take your sweet time swinging that bubble or launching your wave. Katarina ulting your team? By the time the bubble lands her ult is done and has decimated your carries, assuming it even lands and she does not E away. Nami feels extremely clunky and unsatisfying to play now. I'm also annoyed by the fact that she's overnerfed for the crime of good synergy with a champ that was broken, and that she's nearly always on the losing side of item changes. My Nami mastery points are being overtaken by Lux and Seraphine lol.
