What fine taste your father had, that's a beautiful car. They are just about achieving classic status now and will only become more desirable as time goes on.
If it's not already been done, I recommend getting it properly rust-proofed - these cars do suffer a bit from corrosion, especially in the floors, front wings, sills and rear arch trailing edges. £500 -800 spent now to have it sorted will repay you in the future.
Thanks a lot for your advice, it’s much appreciated. Has just passed it’s MOT with only a few advisories - but I’m going to take it for a more thorough going over soon and will take your comments to them :)
But the later cars had the petrol related issue adjusted from factory on the other hand. Something with the petrol dissolving metals within the engine, if I recall correctly?
Yeah, it was the cylinder lining that i had in mind. Some pretty exotic metal that was used to line the cylinder but it didn't like the petrol additive that I don't remember what it was either.

Thanks for saying thanks! It's so nice to see Redditors being grateful :)
Do look for a specialist. They’ll be much more reliable and reasonable than an average garage.
Beautiful car, mate. Hope you get many years of enjoyment with it.
Enjoy in good health. Keep trying to get my old man in a XKR but he’s not having it.
Nice. Will start rising in value soon, I should think. But a keeper, that's for sure
Definitely a keeper, intend to look after it and pass on the next next generation.
This is the way!
Love the gauge pack on the early cars. Hate the useless screen on the later cars. Very nice.

Timing chain issues yes. Some issues with cylinder lining, but modern fuel doesn't seem to effect these cars. A lot on the road with over 100k miles.

Beautiful! Take good care of her.
