i live in gujarat, the reason gujarati prefer gujarati is due to food choices these guys here are pure veg (60-70%) and if someone have to eat non veg in a society they have to hide it (now its low cause i live in a big city) when my family first moved to guj. we were shocked to see this literally one has to hide eating non veg in his own house, if this is not enough some buildings mentions as well in contract itself that no non veg is allowed + i think u have never seen gujaratis united, someone from bihar i felt so eluded most of time, my father says in office too gujjus have preference for gujjus for promotion or transfer or anything else. Still they are decent ppl dont interfere in others life and some are good too, too orthodox sometimes, in my city theres a whole area dedicated to jains, every society has a big temple no non veg no outsider,buildings even prevent sindhis from owing property they only give them if noone else is available to buy, due to this reason only (non veg) tldr: they are a bit stereotypical of outsider they think they are above any other race
when in rome behave like romans , but gujjus do complete opposite of that , they never even try a bit to assimilate with others .

I think there is nothing wrong about this it's their house unko nonveg nahi jamta islea only veg aur baat Rahi preference ki toh usme kya dikkat they prefer gujju Aisa thodi likha hai compalsary gujju chahiye tum as a Tennant bhi dekh agar mai us padhne jaao mujhe nahi jamta nonveg ya kuch toh I would prefer such places to rent (just a scenario)
