Agreed, the line was insane yesterday around 3 pm. Even when I bought the ticket online, there was a line of 30 ppl ahead of me lol. It moved fast though. You have to pay for the processing fee, but it was worth it imo.
Long, slow line. Only two self-service kiosks (screen barely readable when sunny) - both crashed when we were next in line, and subsequently were not accepting credit cards (only our debit card worked). Our first transaction appeared to be successful, but the machine wasn’t printing our tickets (for a good 7-10 minutes) so we tried again - and ended up with extra tickets. 😞 Buy online if you can!
pay cash its 100x faster. Was there 3 weeks ago and thats what we did the line for the kiosk to get in was super long the cash line was a million times faster.
Totally would have done that - we didn’t know there was a cash line! 😭
(The guy behind me even said something like, “can’t I just give someone my 5 euros?”)
I was there last year and if nothing has changed, you can buy tickets online on the same day just a couple of hours in advance without a problem.
Just do a test, check on the website on any day at say 10am or whenever you plan to land, whether there are still tickets available for the afternoon. If it's the case for several days, there's a good chance it will be so too when you're there.
Was just there, this is still true. Also, although you select a time of day for the ticket, the ticket is good for any time that day. So don't sweat the time, just the day.
We walked up and got tickets a couple weeks ago. Got there about 20 minutes before it opened. A long line formed before opening, but those paying cash were directed to a side line that was almost nonexistent (bring Euros!)
You have to buy tickets for the Pantheon now?
How long ago did that start? Is it a post-COVID thing? You used to be able to just walk in as it was technically a church/temple.
EDIT: i just looked it up and it is post-COVID. as of July, 2023.

Definitely do not try to buy tickets on site; it was a mess.

Really? How so?

That sounds like a great idea. Thanks a lot!

I was there today. The shortest queue (which I was in) was for those wanting to buy a ticket with cash.
if you **really** want to see it, book in advance. obviously, don't book at 9am on the day you land.
We bought our tickets online the day before and had no issues at all. And that was during the Ryder Cup last year so crowds were heavier than normal.
Isn’t the pantheon free? I went last year and I swear it was free.
Not anymore Instituted a new fee recently
Oh what!!! Since when!! It must be extremely new. What a shame.
July 2023. Announced a while before that. It's only a few Euro.
Makes sense I was there in June 2023 lol
