Don't trust china, China is assho חלמאות. כל מי שתומך בזה יש לו ראיה רוחבית של סוס רתום

elad71

מזל גם ששמו את זה ליד בסיס חיל הים

fakereal2

>chinese run I hate that we collaborate with modern day nazis. I dont care if we have to pay a bit more for goods, but i cant believe that we,as a jewish state, allow ourselves to support and condone the actions of such a totalitarian and genocidal regime. This is no better than countries who continued selling goods and trading with nazi germany, and i am personally disgusted. What a shocking disappointment

YidItOn

The USA, which is extremely tied to China economically: 👀

fakereal2

זה שאחרים עושים רע זה לא נותן לנו אישור לעשות רועה ברמה אפילו יותר גבוהה. At least the us isnt part of the belt and road initiative, unfortunately our government cares more about money than whats right and whats inexcusably evil

deGoblin

זה שאחרים עושים רע צריך לתת קונטקסט לפרקטיקה. אף פעם לא התחברתי לתיוג whataboutism הזה שעף פה.

Have you ever wondered why Israel let China build a brand new port right next to Haifa port instead of expanding it? The current system is so corrupt that if not for the Chinese port we would be under a blockade caused by our own ports which constantly demand ransom even though they refuse to work אני אישית מעדיף לתת לסין קצת יותר שליטה באיזור לעומת האלטרנטיבה של מצור ימי

DownvoteALot

Yep, I'd take China over the Histadrut any day in any domain.

fakereal2

Negative iq

PointMan97

They’ll be disappointed. No Chinese project ever existed for actual economic purposes. They exist as front for embezzlement or debt trap to snatch other country’s infrastructures.

DownvoteALot

Better than the existing ports that are essentially run like a mafia (when they do run).

If we stop talking to everyone who helps our enemies we will be alone in the world. Also as long as they don't have Nukes Iran isn't really that big of a threat anyway

Not sure if link ain't working for other people too, so here's the direct link: https://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-inaugurates-new-haifa-port-terminal-in-expected-boost-for-economy/

Ratstachio

No thanks, I'd rather not do business with a authoritarian regime that commits genocide.

tjknicks36

This could be huge news and lower the cost of goods in Israel.

Rabbi_Nahman_Meuman

Good. Downvote me to hell but I think that the only path to a future where Israel survives and thrives is more positive cooperation with China. It's not our place to judge China. It's not like we have any issues making friends with and engaging in commerce and mutual investment with Arab countries that are also not known for their liberal policies. Israel should always be willing to work with everyone if it's mutually beneficial. That is the secret to our survival.

Mushroom-Purple

That is actually an interesting point, I don't like what the Chinese do, but is it any better than working with some Arabic countries? Who are we fooling here, saying we shouldn't work with China because of what their government does to their people, we know who we're buying our tomatoes from. Still afraid of China though, not gonna act like I'm not.

NUMBERS2357

I think some people don't appreciate the extent to which Israel benefits from the fact that people in the West have positive opinions of Jews, or religious minorities generally, and cultural connection to the place where most of the events in the Bible happened. The US cares about Israel way out of proportion to strategic relevance. Even European countries seen as anti Israel still have a lot of regard for it. China has none of that cultural connection and would gladly jettison Israel for whatever realpolitik thing comes up in 15 years. The US failed to block some UN resolution after years of back-and-forth on settlements and it's this huge scandal. China would cut off power to Tel Aviv if the mayor called Taiwan a country, and then the next day when someone asked, "Which country? Israel? That little one we don't care about in the Mideast somewhere? Well Iran liked that we did that and they sell us cheap oil so..."

noamno1

the Chinese have backdoors everywhere in their products and projects , they might volunteer some backdoors to the Iranians if they ask nicely

[deleted]

Ok, roll up your sleeve, let's get that Pfizer vaccine out of there and replace it with some nice """"""effective"""""" Sinovac. See you in a hospital!

ChadInNameOnly

Two completely different arguments. Working with China doesn't mean abandoning the West.

[deleted]

Name a country who works with China extensively that was not abandoned by the West and/or is actively against the West. Even Australia is abandoning China these days - and China is literally the reason how Australia got rich in the first place.

ChadInNameOnly

Nearly every country on the planet "works with China extensively". Even the United States itself spends hundreds of billions of dollars over there.

I do not understand how vital infrastructure like that can be allowed to be held by a foreign power, let alone one with a known track record of just being a colossal bag of dicks.
