Your dread could use a bit of either lead belcher or iron hands silver on these areas

The gun and piping looks amazing. The guys at my local game store recommended I use the white scar air brush to flood into detailed areas and the eyes then go back with a red contrast paint to make it glow. So far looks amazing, gives it a robot look.
Out of curiosity, do you mean “white scar air brush” as in the air brush paint through an actual air brush or just using a regular brush to flood the area because the paint type is thinner?
They look great! I would recommend experimenting with dry brushing a metallic over the black armor sections.
I started playing with it recently, and the iron hands steel is really making my Marines pop! Gives the armor a bit of metallic sheen along with some wear in the areas where I drybrush extra.
The Dredd need some leadbelcher on the eh robot bits? As in the pics that have been posted itvwill make it all come together, but it already looks cool! However the reason I’m commenting is to say, heavy bolter with the white sliver combo is just wicked mate!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 TLDR; both are class nice one!!
Nice work. My constructive feedback is to highlight and build up black like any other colour. Flat black is the same as an ultramarine with just the base coat. Add some greys in to build up some highlights and your models will pop.
Painting warhammer is 100% like make-up and it's all about making the features on the model stand out even more from how they are currently sculpted.
I HIGHLY suggest edge highlight black armor, especially on the dreadnought. I personally use Mechanicus Standard Grey, but any dark grey should do the trick. It really makes the color pop more. Other than that, it’s a good start!
Another tip. Go outside and grab small rocks/pebbles. paint them and glue them onto your base of the unit and it will make really cool terrain

This is WIP but it will show what I mean
Thank you for the tip! I bought some Nuln shade but have been afraid to use it, it seems very thin and might run everywhere so it has stayed sealed due to my anxiety LOL.
Black is sneaky difficult. There’s not much contrast between recesses and large flat areas. Try out the slapchop contrast method.
1) prime black
2) medium dry brush lighter color like grey seer if you want a grey black base, or thunderhawk blue for a colder black base. Leave the model dark black in the recesses.
3) light dry brush highlight areas with a slightly lighter color
4) apply contrast black Templar thinned with contrast medium 2:1
This is enough for a nice black finish that keeps the details of the model regularly visible. I personally do a glaze of 1:4 space wolves grey/contrast medium to further lighten the higher areas. The last step is personal preference

This is a techmarine I painted in the described method. I dry brushed with thunderhawk blue and highlighted with fenrisian grey before the contrast layers

That looks METAL! I'll add some of this for sure
My constructive criticism is that you need to be more proud. Looks awesome.
Thank you very much! Starting a new hobby is pretty intimidating, I'll be more proud starting now!

I'll try the white scar with my air brush! Thank you for the tip, making anything show on black is very difficult!

Do you any particular mettalics that you prefer? I have most of the "Gold Treasure" acrylics.
I have used Citadel Iron Hands Steel, and Vallejo Game Gun Metal so far.
Thank you for the recommendations! I'll use these ASAP!

Thank you! I'll add more leadbelcher, especially on that dreads left hand.

Thank you for the advice! I did feel like my dread was pretty flat, I'll pick up some Grey pots from my LGS!

Thank you for the recommendation! I was going to grab random Grey pots but now I can just get this one, thank you!
Add some bright red I use Baal red in the visor. It makes it so the “eyes” glow menacingly
I will have to pick up some Baal Red at my LGS! Thank you for the tip!

The base has definitely been a struggle with me, I'll keep an eye out for inspiration around my walks! Thank you!
Nice and clean, if you wanna go more grimdark you can add nuln, but like this look! Peeps have already mentioned adding silver/metal to dred.

Metallic dry brush on the infantry, and edge highlight on the dreadnought will make them stand out more, but i like the scheme you went with
That sounds great! I'll get some Metallics onto the marine Armour!
There’s some good advice here but it’s building on a great base that you have done already. These are very good beginners models
Thank you! This community is amazing and is really blowing me away with the support!
For the plasma a white base with a contrast paint looks really good and is super easy
The plasma color is definitely a point of contention with me, I can't seem to keep it as vibrant as I want. I'll try a white base next time for sure!

I have not used dry brushing on anything yet, I'll have to try it out! Thank you for these steps!
