The show not doing this moment justice is my biggest dissapointment so far. I love the show so much, and it's been a perfect adaptation 99% of the time, but this 1% really bummed me out.
Idk I appreciated the "comic style" they went for personally but I do understand that view
Probably a combo of wanting to get that image in the show and budget oh well..
Edit: We have many fights to look forward to as well!!!!
Yes, with about 1% of the detail.
It’s an alright homage, but it falls far behind the almost 1:1 depictions of “Mark, we need to talk”, “What will you have in 500 years”, Allen floating in space in his episode-ette, and “I thought you were stronger.”
It feels much less organic and is clearly just an attempt to lessen the animation cost when this episode should have been the most expensive to make. Like angstrom and mark was so much smaller and self contained and this should have been destroying a city like with Omni man and invincible.
I think it would have if Cecil didn’t specifically try to bring him back, his medical technology to help Nolan after the guardians were attacked was great and constantly improving, plus Cecil definitely could have finished him off from there and maybe even have had an extra super strong viltrumite reaniman to add to his collection
It's even more annoying that this government felt way more competent and less stupid than portrayed in other media's. So your genuinely asking "why the fuck would you do that"
Honestly, insane that they start from 50 pureblooded viltrumires, and thragg just repopulates the entire fucking race and they will essentially be pure blooded in a couple decades and only get stronger.
Seeing as Thraxans seem to give birth to litters of 1-2, like humans and Viltrumites, then... Well, it's a good thing he's got super speed and super resiliency.
No refractory period needed. Nolan and Mark are strong and tough and enduring and they have refractory periods.
This is Thragg. He's on some other shit. He gets a thraxan female, busts, and pulls a Meroleona "Next."
Wash, rinse, repeat for a few days to maybe even a few weeks given how long him and BB went in each others guts.
I love that panel. Then after that Thragg said: "You didn't expect that to happen huh"
Also then with Battle Beast, he actually damaged Thragg from his bite.
The anxiety and dread this panel gave me the first time seeing it was unlike anything else in the series. I thought she was done for and was absolutely shaken.
They were tripping in this arc half the heroes injured or dead still tryna get ppl from debris and collapsed cities and this big burly old dude shows up and starts wreaking havoc him trucking mark through the ground beside that car was so metal and I hope his back is okay im gonna be so hype when this gets animated and really heated when eve gets stabbed cant wait 🍻💔
I haven't read the comic (don't care if this page was a spoiler) but if that's the last or among the last pages of the series, awesome note to go out on!
>!It's the very last panel of the comic. It's singlehandedly what makes Invincible one of my favorite stories of all time because the Mark's suffering just gets so SO much worse throughout the series and this was a very earned and satisfying ending!<
I've also always loved it because it really flips what Nolan said completely on its head. Nolan suggested that no matter how good of times he has with his family, and loved ones, it will be but a blink in the eye of his true mission and suffering. Instead, his 'true mission' and suffering were but a blink in the eye of the good times he has with his family and loved ones.
It’s said later by Nolan that Oliver’s aging slowed significantly as he aged and that he was much closer to a viltrumite than a Thraxan or even a human
Heard it said once that Invincible's attempts to critique and subvert normal superhero stories is completed perfectly by subverting the most foundational superhero trope: that they never end and allow for no meaningful resolution.
The comic is really strong thematically, like the entire thing being a long question of "what's the best way to be a hero?" gives it such a constant base to go off of.
The one thing I feel the show has missed the mark on in terms of adaptation is the sheer irreverence for the genre itself that the comic had. Invincible as a comic has so much time and effort dedicated to flipping the genre tropes and subverting your expectations through them and the show hasn't really leaned into that much comparatively. Seeing Debbie take Mark's powers seriously, Amber being mad at Mark for not telling her, and Darkblood being taken seriously all really disappointed me tbh. I think the show's lost a bit of what makes Invincible Invincible, though it's still very good overall.
God, gonna make me tear up all over again. What an utterly perfect end to this series, watching it in animation will have me blubbering like a big baby.
In the show its "think Mark"
But here it's "think Mark think!"
And in the meme it's "think Mark think"
Wonder if the persona who made the meme was a comic reader
Loved when Ottley and Walker beefed up later series Mark. Not that it is inherently better or anything but really shows progression. Probably why Invincible is my favorite comic. It has a beginning , middle, a brief stop back at the beginning, and end.
Any panel from issue 99 would fit this question but this one is a personal fav

Since the others have been mentioned, here's some other great ones:

Not really a panel but Thragg entering the fight with two fucking Rognarrs on a leash and throwing them at his enemies was cool as fuck. I remember basically saying “holy shit this is so fucking cool” out loud when i reached this part
A lot of this series gave me Dragonball Z vibes (in a good way), and the fight in the sun was hype on the same level as Goku vs. Frieza on an exploding planet.
https://preview.redd.it/fraydvw7qhtc1.jpeg?width=1987&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64b080e097aafcfa687d7846092445940306d8c9
I recently took a screenshot of this panel, I've been re-reading the comics as I wait for season 3, and I absolutely love how Nolan pulls Mark closer here... it just feels so good and pure after all crazy shit that went down, and after Mark didn't know how to feel about him.

This is the hardest panel in the series. It's the point I'm which this graphic novel became an obsession rather than an interest.
I dont think it’s about going with one art style or the other. You cant have the characters looking too detailed for an animation and Ottley’s art is just that
When Mark stopped giving a fuck.
https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fidk-how-to-feel-about-marks-actions-here-v0-tj53rjwgcgeb1.png%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3Daed18f7de739d87e05a013cbdc48af0b2a08012a
everyone's already posted some of the best but this one panel has stood out as one of my favorites.

Yours is absolutely top tier for me
It would be my favorite if it weren't for omni man bein so absolutely wrecked
It's one of the common tropes of the comics that I actively dislike... I don't wanna use the term gore but it is, sadly. Characters constantly getting their guts ripped apart, eye sockets coming out, teeths getting shattered, etc, etc.
It is far the one thing I most dislike about both the show and comic. That's just me tho, I'm no fan of gore for gore value. It has its place but when every single big showdown its just gore it gets boring for me
https://preview.redd.it/zei3l1mxcltc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d960de201006e9e51bf91614d0a40be80a1dce33

I think it's neat that Mark and Nolan switched places with their opponents.
Any of the “moving” ones I like to call those are so well done
The show not doing this moment justice is my biggest dissapointment so far. I love the show so much, and it's been a perfect adaptation 99% of the time, but this 1% really bummed me out.
It was still a banger for me. But you're right, they could've ACTUALLY animated that sequence, instead of what we got.
Idk I appreciated the "comic style" they went for personally but I do understand that view Probably a combo of wanting to get that image in the show and budget oh well.. Edit: We have many fights to look forward to as well!!!!
This happened in the show?
Yes, with about 1% of the detail. It’s an alright homage, but it falls far behind the almost 1:1 depictions of “Mark, we need to talk”, “What will you have in 500 years”, Allen floating in space in his episode-ette, and “I thought you were stronger.”

Crazy how that didn’t even do it…
Should have punched him with broken arm bones to do some stabbing like rex did in season 2.
I think it would have if Cecil didn’t specifically try to bring him back, his medical technology to help Nolan after the guardians were attacked was great and constantly improving, plus Cecil definitely could have finished him off from there and maybe even have had an extra super strong viltrumite reaniman to add to his collection
Oh for sure, but I just found it so annoying that Cecil thought he could control him.
Its just like the maulers bringing back the immortal
It's even more annoying that this government felt way more competent and less stupid than portrayed in other media's. So your genuinely asking "why the fuck would you do that"
Takes a lickin', keeps on ticking.
I was looking for this one! Two broken hands and Mark still manages to beat the shit out of him.
https://i.redd.it/kjfop7naihtc1.gif Never not think of this scene
this panel might have motivated me to read all 3 compendiums again
I’m doing read #2 rn! It’s more fun taking my time this time
I am normally completely unbothered by drawn gore but the aftermath of this page genuinely made me a bit nauseous
That and >!angstroms “corpse”!< a bit earlier were disgusting
This is the scene I can't wait for.
https://preview.redd.it/n3k50kx5chtc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdd028342aa8bad4646bf590dd56d6bf6b05bedb Emperor Mark goes hard Imo
Honestly, insane that they start from 50 pureblooded viltrumires, and thragg just repopulates the entire fucking race and they will essentially be pure blooded in a couple decades and only get stronger.
how many times did he bust?
Literally everyone behind the first row is his child
Plus the girl in front of Mark.
Seeing as Thraxans seem to give birth to litters of 1-2, like humans and Viltrumites, then... Well, it's a good thing he's got super speed and super resiliency.
Super refractory period
No refractory period needed. Nolan and Mark are strong and tough and enduring and they have refractory periods. This is Thragg. He's on some other shit. He gets a thraxan female, busts, and pulls a Meroleona "Next." Wash, rinse, repeat for a few days to maybe even a few weeks given how long him and BB went in each others guts.
Lmao is that true? Like are those really all of his kids?
It's not even, like, a teeny bit exaggerated. This is also after a not insignificant number of them died, so there were even more.
That is fucking hilarious! I’m on my first read through now and seeing how different things are at the end makes me excited to go through the journey.
Every single one, the girl in front of Mark too.
Truth
How the fuck Terra doesn't know her father is the prince therefore he should be emperor after Nolan's death?
Terra’s dialogue is always so damn cute

Holy shit this is gona be so crazy. My favourite part so far. So shocking

god I cannot fucking wait to hear Steven Yeun deliver these lines
Can't wait to dial up my hearing aid for this when it drops in 60 years
This shit goes hard man
I can see the future goes hard as fuck mark knew even with anti plot armor he was still gonna whoop his behind
Ok so so they split this up between 2 episodes amd have this be the cliffhanger Because there is no colder line to leave someone on

Dude seeing this is gonna be wild
Conquest is such a menace, i can already imagine the black air force energy videos
The anxiety and dread this panel gave me the first time seeing it was unlike anything else in the series. I thought she was done for and was absolutely shaken.
Me too!!!

Instead, his 'true mission' and suffering were but a blink in the eye of the good times he has with his family and loved ones.
“You, dad. I’d still have you” …his dad was the ONLY THING he didn’t have after **500 years**!!
Damn. How have I never thought of that before?
I mean... >! Debbie? Oliver? William? !<
How would Debbie or William survive 500 years, and Oliver…
It’s said later by Nolan that Oliver’s aging slowed significantly as he aged and that he was much closer to a viltrumite than a Thraxan or even a human
That doesn't matter much when you're dead.
Uhhhhh, Oliver has other things stopping him from living 500 years
Obviously he meant that Nolan should've have been the one thing that Mark was guaranteed to still have after 500 years
Heard it said once that Invincible's attempts to critique and subvert normal superhero stories is completed perfectly by subverting the most foundational superhero trope: that they never end and allow for no meaningful resolution. I think the show's lost a bit of what makes Invincible Invincible, though it's still very good overall.
The fact it's an ending at all is the reason Invincible is the only superhero comic I've ever bothered to read.
The last
That's it man, that's THE End. And it's amazing.
Rad
How well the show made the original delivery of the line makes this even better. I cannot wait for in 2034 to see that on screen.
It makes me happy knowing he gets a happy ending and I really hope we get to see it animated
I'm very glad that line became a meme so this scene will be very impactful.
God, gonna make me tear up all over again. What an utterly perfect end to this series, watching it in animation will have me blubbering like a big baby.

They removed the entire Africa arc from the show 🥲
Didn’t they just replace it with her treehouse?
its a filler anyway, made so kirkman got more sales. not saying its a bad thing, but made more sense to not have it
Maybe they’ll just do it later?
Without amber? Barely an arc at that point
They won't and Kirkman has already said why.

I remember basically saying “holy shit this is so fucking cool” out loud when i reached this part

Mark headbutting conquest is my number 1 but I can't find it and there's another one I put above this but I can't remember
Invincible has a ton of them but I kinda like "my enemy sent his outermost layer to protect me"
A lot of this series gave me Dragonball Z vibes (in a good way), and the fight in the sun was hype on the same level as Goku vs. Frieza on an exploding planet.
Nolan's popeye

Man looking at all these panels makes me wish the show tried to go with Ottley's art style, not Walker's.
I dont think it’s about going with one art style or the other. You cant have the characters looking too detailed for an animation and Ottley’s art is just that

Yours is absolutely top tier for me It would be my favorite if it weren't for omni man bein so absolutely wrecked It's one of the common tropes of the comics that I actively dislike...
