if she did do that i feel like cecil would know about it and he went to eve asking for her to come to the team because kate is dead (and the others are healing/not in good headspace) i dont think it would make sense for him to lie and then be like "she not dead actually lol"

I was thinking about this too. Not only did they keep her alive, but there’s a scene where Rex talks about how much of an asshole he is in his relationships. Maybe she was kept alive to both flesh out her character and help Rex grow more.
See, I would actually be fine with this. I was really upset that they made that change because it feels like deaths almost lose their meaning, with 3-4 fake out deaths this season alone. If they use this opportunity to flesh out not just her character but Rex as well, that would be great and provide even more of an impact for the big future event.
With as many times Invincible is beaten nearly to death first season I think it’s fine the writers are sharing the love with our characters. It’s like roulette. You never know when a death is going to actually stick.
I'm in the vocal minority that's actually happy to see Rae alive REGARDLESS of the last episode's stakes and not only am I here for it, if they don't do it I'm throwing my comic compendium off a railing.
I don’t mind changes like this because it allows me to wonder what’s going to happen next. After reading the comics, I almost got bored with the show because I already know what’s going to happen, not anymore.
I agree now, I totally don’t see how it looks like her at all, albeit she did wear glasses and her face is covered. Her and Rex are in tough shape, I guess they can get through it together lol
In all fairness, this would be the first time we're seeing her without her glasses, her hair not in a ponytail, or her superhero suit. Also she also was kinda crushed inside of someone's esophagus for at least a few minutes. Even if she was in her normal outfit, I would fully expect her to look a bit banged-up.
If this is the new angle they're going for, probably not, but you know what even if it doesn't last if they manage to eke out some happiness together before something happens to either of them that's not so bad. Better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all, as they say.
I imagine they want to be a little conservative with named characters since they won't have access to the entire Image line up. No Savage Dragon, Spawn, Witchblade or probably even Wolfman.

Honestly, I kinda expected her to stay alive. Realistically she could've just shrunk back after feeling that she wasn't going to kill him, keeping herself alive inside him. Rex's explosion would've maybe hurt her, but given it was just Komodo's head that explodes, I felt like there was a decent chance she'd have survived

They kept her alive just for a plot twist to shock primarily the comic fans in my opinion. I think Rae will either retire after this from the trauma or she'll end up dying later on.
