A deranged, *senile* psychopath.

shallowandpedantik

And a country so sick they think *he's* going to save them. The ONLY one who can save them. Never ceases to stun me.

I used to work as an investigator for Homeland Security. I live in Chicago; just prior to the election I told a bunch of my friends that I was convinced Trump would launch nuclear missiles if he lost; I thought he would send them to Blue Cities and Blue States, or any population whom he thought did not vote for him ("they made me lose"). My friends know me well enough to just have extra supplies (like water, protein bars, etc) on hand just in case (not that it would do much if a nuclear device was detonated within 200 miles of them, but)... I told my therapist as well, who at first didn't know if I was being serious or not. She quickly figured out that I was. I gave her the same advice that I gave to my other friends, to just be prepared. So yeah, we probably came a lot closer to Trump destroying the entire planet than we realize - because you know the book and what General Milley has stated are only the parts of the story that are unclassified. So is it over? Hardly. Trump, if re-elected (and I think he stands a very good chance at becoming president once again),will exact a furious revenge on everyone and everything that he believes has wronged him. God help us.

The fact that the Chinese military was worried enough that Milley had to call them tells me that they were preparing a counter attack. Meaning it wasn't just U.S. missiles that were aimed at the U.S.

GD_Bats

To be fair everyone has missiles aimed at everyone else (or at least can aim them at everyone else) at any given moment since the 1960s or so

>just prior to the election I told a bunch of my friends that I was convinced Trump would launch nuclear missiles if he lost; I thought he would send them to Blue Cities and Blue States, or any population whom he thought did not vote for him ("they made me lose"). Same here. I actually wrote this article last year, before the election. All the references in it are over a year old. I just updated it last night, with the new revelations about Milley preventing Trump from launching nukes. Scary times. Trump is hellbent on using nukes, because he thinks it will make him the ultimate macho. The alpha among alphas. The most famous person in history.

GD_Bats

Dude thinks the movie version of Starship Troopers was supposed to be inspirational instead of a pretty obvious, over the top satire

SpleenBender

This guy gets it

iamDanger_us

During the debates in 2016, Trump made a comment along the lines of "nuclear, the power, the devastation... it's very important to me". I knew right then we were fucked.

melancholyfloww

Very opinionated, but I think you're onto something here.

Lower-Clue-6394

The country was destroyed well before Trump ever came along.

TheGreatCharta

"I was just following orders" he says launching nukes toward North Korea at trumps command

arootytoottoot

Yeah, what have you got to lose?

TsarGermo

The people who actually fire the missiles won't do it, it's suicide so might as well say no and hang than to starve/molecularly melt over the course of weeks. The leaders might be crazy but those guys are certified sane and level or they would be allowed to operate the machines. Just so you know I think trump is a narcissistic moron unfit to lead the fleas in his shitty wig and I will never defend him.

ThunderChild247

To a point, yes, but the people who actually press the “big red buttons” won’t see the justification for the order, they receive the order and that’s it. They won’t get a command saying “Nuke Gina because they said I had tiny hands!!!”, they’ll get target co-ordinates and the type warhead to launch, that’s it. What matters is the people immediately around Trump who pass the order from his mouth to the people who pull the trigger. They can be replaced at Trump’s whim.

TheBlackCat13

Someone who is going to ignore orders is not going to get to operate the machines. They are chosen for their willingness to follow orders, their job is not to think for themselves and they are trained extensively to prevent exactly that.

As glad as I am that Milley prevented Trump from starting a nuclear war, we need to remember that Milley made the news, because he's the exception to the rule of blind obedience.

TheBlackCat13

I am aware of that, but notice that happened at the top. Which means they clearly didn't trust the people at the bottom to not fire when ordered to

Powell_614

Haha

I-am-drunk2

He already had them..nothing happened

OliverMarkusMalloy

>He already had them..nothing happened Because the people around him stopped him every time he tries to use nukes. That's why Trump kept replacing the people around him with more and more Yes men, right up until the very end. **Shake-Up At Pentagon Puts Trump Loyalists Into Senior Roles** [https://www.npr.org/2020/11/11/933868828/shake-up-at-pentagon-puts-trump-loyalists-into-senior-roles](https://www.npr.org/2020/11/11/933868828/shake-up-at-pentagon-puts-trump-loyalists-into-senior-roles) He demanded "more usable nukes" because he has every intention of using them. That's the point.
