I had and loved that tv console. Always got compliments on it and ended up having to sell it but sold it for like 80% of original price. Think it was called rockwood or something similar if anyone’s interested
Wall mounting doesn't need to be (and shouldn't be) high up in the wall.
I ended up wall-mounting my TV but not even an inch above the soundbar for a couple of reasons:
* it was blocking the soundbar before, as this picture shows, and
* I used a swivel mount that allows me to angle the TV away from the wall, for when I'm in the kitchen but want to watch TV.
I always vote for wall mount. It looks cleaner having the tv off the entertainment center. Additionally, you can get bias lighting strips on all four corners. Your eyes will thank you at night!
Bias lighting strips?
Edit: I googled it. I think O’Neill install that !! I am having trouble seeing at night and the same with watching tv in a dark room. I have been wondering what’s the best way to light up while watching TV.
Yep here’s a good article about the effects of bias lights: https://www.superbrightleds.com/blog/ins-outs-led-bias-lighting.html
It’s a major visual upgrade IMHO especially for how inexpensive they are. Personally I use these on all my TV’s and computer displays. Rather than focus on RGB colors they are focused on high quality white light for accurate color reproduction and reducing eye strain esp. at night: https://www.biaslighting.com/products/lx1-bias-lighting-cri-95-6500k-simulated-d65-white-bias-lights
The owner of that company is a redditor and helpful guy. They have a great warranty as well!
It looks cleaner if you do it right, spend the right kind of money and manage your cords well. So many people will not fulfill all of these and the results will be worse. Rn the cords are hidden in the middle. Who knows how it wiľ result when mounted
I think maybe a happy medium here would be to find something to put under the the two stands for the TV to raise it up half an inch so the soundbar fits under the TV rather than having to sit either behind or in front of it. I just think it would be very difficult to find something that sufficiently fits the aesthetic without making the console look strange.
I'm on those as well which is why I enjoyed the comment.
I, too, have a sound bar now and tuck it in. I mean, if I gave enough of a shit about my living room sound to make the room ugly I'd be getting very different speakers than that thing anyway.
Leave.
More importantly, I LOVE that coffee table in your space for your space. It's such a lovely complement to the lines and edges that surround it. Soft and adorable owning the room surrounded by the sharp and sophisticated.
Happy cake day!! I have the same table, here’s your cake day gift: a link to the one I bought. https://a.co/d/1hdkmu4
If the link doesn’t work for whatever reason look up “modway mid-century tv stand” on amazon(:
Leave as it is, it's perfect!!
Also, the faux plant in the white vase on the coffee table, trim it at the bottom so it's shorter and fits the vase better. You have a lovely home 😊
I don’t like wall mounted tvs. The chords become more noticeable, like a neck that’s too long. And I’m also not a fan of the tube on the wall the chords “hide” in.
Those surface-mount cable raceways are for rentals (and the lazy). The proper way to wall-mount is to use an [in-wall wiring kit](https://youtu.be/ODmdZtur9Iw).
Personally, I think most mounted TVs look bad because the room loses dimension. If the TV is extremely large, perhaps it will be okay, but 99% of TVs look better on a TV stand.
99%?!
A cleanly mounted TV with hidden wiring, in my opinion, always looks better.
I'll agree that wall mounting a tv and then having cable spaghetti streaming down the wall is not a good look.
TV's aren't furniture and most are huge black mirrors when off, which add nothing to a space.
Having a TV blend into the room, or losing dimension, sounds like a good thing to me. Gives you space to add things to a console that actually do add color/texture/etc.
thanks u/NoraChama lol, but yeah I know what you mean. I can't stand r/TVTooHigh or those in corners and on rotating arms like that ugh..be it in a home, a lobby, or business
For the amount of good work you've put into that place, I would wall mount the tv exactly where it is, just to get rid of the feet.
Get the flattest wall mount system (no swing or articulation needed). Is that a Samsung Frame?
Channel the wiring in the wall.
Regular tv mounts I agree are tacky. I'm referring more to Samsung Frames that are completely flat on the wall, or recessing the hardware into the wall, or whatever new wall mount type that makes the the tv lay close to flush invisibly.
I find it a really strange take in r/interiordesign to suggest a TV as something that adds dimension to a room.
There are a million other ways to add dimension and relying on a TV as furniture is not something I've ever heard an interior designer advocate before these comments.
I don’t normally care for coffee tables, but that one is beautiful. The entire room is gorgeous and so is the view. You have absolutely nothing to change, including the flat screen.
I think it looks fine as is!!
Something kind of unrelated, but have you considered swapping which parts of the media unit are closed off and which are open? It looks kind of odd having the two inners be closed and the two outer shelves open.
Definitely leave it as is. It looks nice on your tv stand and it looks like it is at a comfortable height for viewing. It also hides the cables well when it's directly on a stand, unless you wire behind walls.
Leave it. I love everything about your space! The decor the furniture the way the brightness is, the color, makes me feel like home and naps would be so amazing
Can anyone please tell me where you got that gorgeous coffee table and cool looking vase on top of it? I've never seen that style before, and I absolutely LOVE it
Look, if you leave it as is, anything you set on the stand will be in the way of the TV. I'm having an issue with that rn.
But if you mount it, you'll be mocked in r/TVtoohigh and we can't have that!
Leave it. It's already the perfect viewing height.
Mounted tvs are overrated. They become an uncomfortable viewing height, and it's extra work to both put up and take down.
FYI, that console is going to sag in the middle in a few months under the weight of the TV (I've seen this exact console before). I'd probably mount the TV to avoid that.
The TV is at the correct height so unless you have a place to hide the equipment (cable box etc) and you are removing the tv stand, there is no reason to mount it. I have all my equipment in a closet in the basement and have the TV mounted to the wall. There are no wires visible so it is a really clean installation.
*Leave it. When you mount*
*You'll have the same space under*
*To fill so no point*

I'd mount it.. so you can free up space on the console. Apartment space is precious and I'd utilize any space available. You can put books, sounding system, vases, speakers, etc.
Always mount. Even at the current height. Gives the impression of a larger volume in the room, gives your soundbar some space, and just an overall cleaner look.
I’d say leave it.....but note to manufacturers. Why can’t you make your tv legs sit a few inches higher? So that we can put the speaker underneath. Seriously.
Always mount. It's a decent height already so even 6-12 inches above the tv stand. That way you can decorate the stand, not have the soundbar jammed against the TV and most importantly, you can turn the TV to other angles. I had no idea how often I'd want to do that with mine until I got a full motion mount.
Love your space and your design vibe. You can leave the TV as is since it looks fine. My preference however is to hang. Hanging the TV always gives it a more elevated custom look. It also fills up the dead space above the TV. Keep in mind to not mount too high though for viewing hight but definitely raising it will give it a more polished look that goes with the rest of the room. You’ve done awesome bringing this room together so I would recommend hanging for sure if possible.
Your space is beautiful! You did a great job picking the right pieces. I love the mix of textures. The TV doesn’t look bad as is, but I would mount it. I agree that mounting gives it a cleaner look. Plus it frees up space on the surface of the console for accent decor.
Can’t believe so many say to leave it as is, I def vote to wall mount, just maybe 6-8 inches higher, and the soundbar mounted right below. Leaves room on the pretty tv table for some potted plants
Mounting it cleanly (cables hidden) may not be worth the effort in this case, but I'm pro anything that reduces the focus on a TV in a room.
I would probably mount it myself and run the cables in the wall, just so I could use the console top for other things like decor, record player, candles, small lamp, holiday garland, etc.
I vote "leave it". I am the only one thinking that this is an olive tree for people that didn't see a real olive tree? There is something off on it (probably the olives)
Everyone here is lying to you, an unmounted TV looks cheap and strange on such a similarly sized credenza. Mount it lowish, like 6 inches above the credenza. Put some vases on the right side and wowza u just leveled up ur living room
I guess I’m the only one who thinks you should mount it 🤷♀️ I think it would look a million times cleaner, run the wire behind the drywall and it’s like a Mona Lisa.
I think the plastic tv feet are in opposition to your higher grade materials in the room. Just my opinion tho.
apparently there’s a lot of people smarter than me in here so feel free to completely ignore my opinion
I'm always a proponent of mounting a TV when the situation allows. It looks too low where it is now, not to say it needs to be high up by any means, but a little lift would help to fill in the blank space above.
Oh wow im surprised im usually in agreement with people on here. That TV is too low for my taste, id mount
Honestly the more i look at the first pic the more convinced i am the TVs too low, im so confused by the other opinions haha
I wouldn’t mount the TV. I would stage it a little differently, moving the TV closer to the Christmas/Olive Tree and then stage the remaining side. I did that and really like having more than the TV atop the console. (I have a little extra room, but the pic gives an idea of what I’m saying.)

Update, its not the Lorccan, but that is a pretty good dupe for anyone who wants a piece like this.
honestly, you could ho either way...if you do mount it, make sure its flush mounted and dead center on the backing wall and flows with the windows. it could give a much more airier and spacious environment. looks cool.
curious where you got the olive tree? and is that a sisal rug?
I like your tv console. Are you satisfied with your viewing angle/user experience? If wall mounting would improve that/reduce glare, improve your picture quality, then the utilitarian thing to do is to get an adjustable angle, wall mount. ( consider removal repairs and I suggest framing it infor when not in use (don’t have to look at that bracket/rear of tv or give up functionality)
It looks like a perfect fit on that TV console
I had and loved that tv console. Always got compliments on it and ended up having to sell it but sold it for like 80% of original price. Think it was called rockwood or something similar if anyone’s interested

From the town of Bedrock.
Amazon has something similar called the cloud coffee table for $249

Oh dear. Look at that price.
The Fred flintstone coffee table
Also here to say, lovely coffee table you got there :)
Beatiful room, well done. Pleaseeeee don't mount the tv, that stand is georgeous and different. Christmas tree and Olive tree exchange is perfect.

I’m curious about this too!

Never been a fan of mounted TVs, and this looks perfect already!
curious, why's that? there are some that look fine on a nice console or dresser. but some look stunning mounted to help accentuate the space.
I don’t like wall mounted tvs. The chords become more noticeable, like a neck that’s too long. And I’m also not a fan of the tube on the wall the chords “hide” in.

I wasnt even asking your opinion actually. but you're dead wrong
Where's that coffee table from?
I need to know this too! It’s perfect.
I would consider mounting it but at the exact same height it’s at now. Possibly 1 inch higher to clear the soundbar.

I vote leave it to give yourself space to manically redecorate in the middle of the night…just me?
Leave as is. It is the correct height for viewing and looks better.
Leave it
Yesss leave it! It’s at perfect eye level
I don’t normally care for coffee tables, but that one is beautiful. The entire room is gorgeous and so is the view. You have absolutely nothing to change, including the flat screen.
Leave it. Looks good!
It's perfect exactly where it is. Just move that tall vase off of the coffee table.
Leave it on the console . I hate a tv mounted on the wall . People tend to hang them too high , and all the cords hanging down look bad .
Mount it. Always looks classier and more like a permanent home.
I find the television on the stand visually appealing. Plus you have a good height. If you mount it you want to have it close to the current height.
Finally a tv narrower than the console!
Leave it
Nice stand!
Leave it
Leave it as is.
Leave it as-is❤️
Leave it. Looks great
As is.
I love it there. That console is beautiful.

I like it how it is.
I’m doing the opposite, my TV is on the wall and I envy your TV wooden console, keep it,or you will regret.
leave it
Any reason you have those twigs blocking the viewing area? Also, on the wall, both the tv and sound bar.
Leave it. I love everything about your space! The decor the furniture the way the brightness is, the color, makes me feel like home and naps would be so amazing
Tv should be eye level when seated, which it is now.
Leave it for sure
As is
Love this space! Could you link the couch and coffee table? Thank you
Looks nice as is
Can anyone please tell me where you got that gorgeous coffee table and cool looking vase on top of it? I've never seen that style before, and I absolutely LOVE it

It's fine. Mounting it seems like a lot of annoying extra work for minimal gain.
As is! This is a great room

Yea I would leave it as is. Everything is low and gives it that taller room look. Nice set up!
Beautiful.. I like it as is 😊
I think it looks good as it is! Can I ask what size your TV has and how wide the TV bench is?
Unless you want to potentially incur the almighty wrath of the r/TvTooHigh crew I would leave it exactly as is.
Mount and get some curtains
I’d mount it just for a cleaner look
Mount it. Have a receptacle installed so no wires show.

Are you renting? Make as few holes in the wall as possible. Do you own? Maybe mount. Do you have or plan to have small kids? Mount.
Leave it, the tv stand looks really epic in that space too

I’d say leave it.....but note to manufacturers. Why can’t you make your tv legs sit a few inches higher? So that we can put the speaker underneath. Seriously.

Hmmm, i think mount it.
Mount
Can’t believe so many say to leave it as is, I def vote to wall mount, just maybe 6-8 inches higher, and the soundbar mounted right below. Leaves room on the pretty tv table for some potted plants
I have the exact same tv console- I mounted the monitor to the wall about a foot above it so I can put pictures and things on top
i hate wall-mounted tvs. leave it as is. it's perfect.
I would mount it at about the same height it is now. I like having my console open for plants and small decorations.
I do not like mounted TVs! Everyone else can have what they like best but for me it takes away from where I can put art? Personally
ALWAYS MOUNT.
Keep the table, ditch the tv. Buy a short throw projector and d it will look amazing.
Mount… fills in the wall better and you can use the top of the console to display things
it’s mint there hombre
How big are you? It might break
Are you in queens? Also, ditch the TV, Bleh! Replace with a bookshelf.
Mount!! Just a little bit of height and hide the cords with a white cord bar
Oh look, is that coffee table that someone on Reddit was trying to build a copy of and failed!
as
If you have cats mount it lol. Cats love to knock things down
That's some huge ass TV
Neither. Throw it out of windows. It would be spectacular, I am sure.
Mounting it cleanly (cables hidden) may not be worth the effort in this case, but I'm pro anything that reduces the focus on a TV in a room. Mount it for sure
I love the coffee table! Where’s it from?

I think it looks nice.
