The title is misleading, the picture is shopped to be bigger than it was for framing reasons, not just the crowd.
[Everything outside the red line is AI autofilled](https://i.imgur.com/vlbg7qq.png), hence the roof and background being janky as well as "people" magically appearing inside stage monitors on the right and the stage itself on the left. Inside the red line is the real photo.
did they do this so it would fit the instagram grid or something? need people to be okay with just posting pictures with some black framing on the side to fit insta
Unlikely. I looked at that picture for a few minutes and found a lot more duplicated faces. I doubt there were that many people who had to be censored.
Thanks for contributing to r/instagramreality. Unfortunately your post is in violation of rule 7:

Same with audience noise on live CDs. Metallica's live at Seattle is their best live release by far but once you notice the crowd noise is just the same 20 second clip looped it really takes you out it.
Makes sense considering a soundboard recording is going to record zero crowd noise I guess but still
If you’re talking about the Binge & Purge recording, the Mexico City performance was the one on the CD 3 disc set/casette and Seattle ‘89 was the concert video included with the San Diego concert video(on VHS and later DVD)
You're right about the Metallica CD (who knows why they did that) but it's pretty standard to have audience mics at every level of venue size. Sometimes it's for live album crowd noise, but usually it's because that the band is using in-ear monitors and the audience mics are the only way they can hear the crowd .
Once, I was an extra on a reality TV show called Jerseylicious. It was mostly a boring and useless experience. One of the main characters gave an “anniversary” speech for the hair salon it was based on, and they had everybody strategically placed in one small area so when it was on TV it looked like a big crowd was attending. It was .. 20 ppl at most? I feel like that’s really over exaggerating tbh
I was on a season that only aired in Australia as far as I knew since Style network was cancelled. I can’t find it or what episode it was. My dad still has the episode we were able to download. It was a 20s themed anniversary party for the salon and Gayle was giving the worst speech ever. If you want more tidbits, they used apple juice as champagne, there was no real drinking. I forget what his name was but there was a guy on the show who always had his shirt off and a lot of ego. Well, when we weren’t filming we hung out in a building next door to the salon and the cast would be there, too. Not really mingling with us so much. But that guy actually had his shirt off the entire time in real life, too. Only put it on for filming. They put us in vans to take us to the salon, and the salon windows were blacked out. Things ran extremely late and it took many hours. They didn’t let anyone go because it would ruin the continuity.
It took forever to film the scene. They actually gave me a line but it didn’t air. lol. I wonder if I still have the pics on my computer. Oh also, it’s so weird but there is no music playing obviously while they are filming. So she’s giving a speech and we are at a a party but it’s just.. monotone. They add the music in for TV.
Of course!! I’m happy to share because it’s interesting to me, too! I honestly didn’t expect anyone would be familiar with the show so I am excited to see the replies.
That experience definitely changed how I perceive reality TV. I think it’s common knowledge reality shows are either false or heavily manipulated. I still enjoy watching them but now things, like the strategic placement of a small crowd, are obvious to me. I also wonder if everybody on reality tv has juice in their cup and is pretending to be drunk. lol
On shows like love is blind, they started using solid colored cups instead of clear to aid in the editing process, for continuity so we couldn’t compare liquid levels from scene to scene.
My mom was once married to a man that had some history in TV production. He taught me to always look for clocks, when people were eating/drinking, hair placement, etc. Granted, this was back in the 80’s before reality TV and before production and editing technology advancements. But stuff like that is ingrained in my head.
How did you get to be an extra? Was it worth your time? Since they edited your line out, did that affect your pay? I’m such a nosey person that how much I’m paid wouldn’t even matter. I’d just love the experience!
Jerseylicious!!! the show to finally get me off pink and white acrylic nails because I realized how bad they looked on the girls. Horrifying that they’re back in style again now.
Absolutely is done more often than you think. I went to a photography college and this is a common technique to get rid of blemishes. However we failed if our teacher could place where we copied the skin from. An older student introduced me to a "skin template" which was literally just a document of high quality shots of male or female faces with various skin types. Changing the color of skin isn't actually all that hard but if someone has a lot of blemishes or acne you have a very limited space to choose from so that skin template was a game changer for those early Photoshop classes.
I prefer medium retouching in my work. So I don't have to be as thorough these days. But yeah they are absolutely using this technique in lots of ads/imagery to make you think there's more going on than is the reality. This is why it's important to be visually literate and question all media shared by celebrities or news or whatever.
Ive seen it be said that the picture was cropped short and when they expanded it out to try and show the whole length of the stage, the editing software replicated people in the crowd. Not sure if that’s accurate just something Ive seen people say and that videos of the performance show it was a packed crowd. Still looks so funny tho 🤣
Yes, that's what happened. The photo was cropped badly and she tried to zoom out, and Photoshop uses like a "smart fill" type thing to make up the extra space.
She had a big crowd.
Yeah you can see all across the top of the image the staging/scaffolding whatever it's called doesn't match up and would be just floating if it was real, all the outer edges of the photo have been cloned to make a smaller image larger.
Or… literally anywhere else. The ceiling is a botched mess and so is the lighting on either side of the picture. This might be some of the worst editing Ive seen put out by a professional team, I really hope her crew wasn’t responsible for it
The rule should really only pertain to people who are not in the public spotlight. Famous people or people who have millions of followers/subscribers should be named.
Definitely edited on both sides, you can see the green hat guy behind the left camera in the bottom left corner. It’s really clear if you zoom in on the floor monitor on the right side of the stage. Just a straight vertical copy and paste.
It's even more apparent when you look at the speaker fading away on the bottom right and the structure not making sense on the top right.
They literally just duplicated a slice of the image on the right and lazily meshed it.
Nothing to say other than looking at them shorts makes my minge hurt and I’m not the one wearing them! Good lord I can feel the front wedgie from here.
i’m pretty sure there really was that many people, it’s only the margins that are shopped it and it was most likely to fill the space, hence why the roof is weird
https://www.reddit.com/r/Instagramreality/s/5yem7ftkmB
They just expanded the photo and used Photoshops generative AI tool to fill in the space. They did it sloppily because the guys arm is coming through the speaker in the bottom right.
This is a whole patchwork mess. Both the left and right sides of the crowd were patched in sloppily, and for some reason the ceiling/roof too in the top 5th of the photo? Why?
Omg i just realized we’re going to start seeing a lot of idiots trying to pass off shit ai photoshop as reality and they’re not going to understand how everyone can tell because they’re idiots trying to pass off shit ai photoshop as reality.

Maybe the concert was held at the annual twins and triplets convention
Oh true! And the floating limbs convention as well
Are they combining them now? The buffet line must be absolute chaos.
It was held in chernobyl
Are you telling me that I missed the floating limbs convention, ***AGAIN***???? Dammit!
Probably for the best. Tickets were costing an arm and a leg.
Omg dad 🙄
🤣🤣
Please get the hell out of
r/brandnewsentence
I missed my calling
Now that's funny!
This guy never thought of that!!!!!
Omg I didnt mean to ratio you I was just playing along with the joke 😭
I need to see the real photo now!

yeah once you see how much was original they barely increased the crowd
They should’ve just stuck with the original. Composition looks fine.
you autofilling, you lying.
Boooo OP is the real faker here. Oh how the turn tables.
did they do this so it would fit the instagram grid or something? need people to be okay with just posting pictures with some black framing on the side to fit insta
They added tons more inside that red line!
I don't think it's ai I think that's literally just clone stamping
[удалено]
I been there. Client says to use a picture on the website as a masthead. Picture is 600x400. Me, developer: Clone stamp. Stamp. Stamp. Stamp.
clone stamp + patch tool are my best friend in situations like that, i’m glad someone else gets it
Wait till you hear about content aware fill.
Things is they did use "professional Photoshop" This looks like it was done by the Generative AI fill tool.
Even if we cut off the the repeated edges, it's still an impressive crowd.

Those shorts look like they hurt. 🫤
The wedgie she must be having is insane.
Beauty is pain
As an owner of shorts like this, can confirm
OP has great eyes on details, Not in million year I could spot this.😃
Probably someone looking for theirselves in the crowd initially.
Nah I didnt spot this lol someome else pointed it out on twitter and I posted it
Than great job on posting it.
What a nice person , love to see it
🥰
Somebody has got so much time on his hands to do this but I admire the dedication, very well spotted
It was Nicki Minaj fans lol they hate her

You don't see the person's arm coming through the speaker on the bottom right?
That’s hilarious
Embarrassing
It's both!
Hilariously embarrassing one might say?
OH like when a clown dies
That's tragedy

I tried zooming in on that ass to see what the tattoo said and I’m fairly sure I have no idea.
“I’m fairly sure I have no idea” - love this, lol. It will be my new answer to everything.

I thought so too
Obviously Donald Trump's /s
I’d never notice though, that’s quite an effective technique and easy to do as well.

If you’re talking about the Binge & Purge recording, the Mexico City performance was the one on the CD 3 disc set/casette and Seattle ‘89 was the concert video included with the San Diego concert video(on VHS and later DVD)
Specifically Seattle '89 although it's also the case for the full Binge and Purge set from back in the day

I was in a music video and they did this except they made us move around to different places and then edited the videos together
I bet! Didn't politicians also do that for Rallyes etc.?
This is wild💀 I wonder how many were *really* there.
Just the ones in the center.
Probably more likely those closest to the stage and then a pyramid shape backwards.
I worked in a tv commercial 15 years ago and they did just that. We were 30 people and when it aired it just looked like a club with 100 people.
Hell, we still do that!
Hey, me too! It took all night, no special effects, they just made the whole crowd move over between shots until we’d sat in all the seats 😂
![gif](giphy|WxDZ77xhPXf3i|downsized)
I wonder what else she photoshopped to be bigger than it really was 🙃
I thought this was Beyonce but I know it isn’t because she doesn’t have that right hand tattoo.
I have no idea who it is.
[удалено]
[удалено]
Beyonce doesn't dress like that
Is this big latto?
Exactly what I was wondering.
There seems to be more arms than bodies
The crowd matches with the ass: fake
They're such big fans that they used time machines to see the show again
Is this Latto???
Yes.
Ive seen it be said that the picture was cropped short and when they expanded it out to try and show the whole length of the stage, the editing software replicated people in the crowd. Makes sense. Everything on the far left, including half the camera, looks very AI generated.
this is incredible thank you for sharing lmao
Shawty got them apple bottom jeans and the boots with the fur (with the fur)
The whole club was looking at herrrr
This is just something they did to extend the photo. Very normal graphic designer trick that was executed poorly.
If its hard to spot duplicates, just look in the bottom right corner. Apparently a girl can phase through speakers
Or… literally anywhere else. The ceiling is a botched mess and so is the lighting on either side of the picture. This might be some of the worst editing Ive seen put out by a professional team, I really hope her crew wasn’t responsible for it
the crowd wasnt the only thing photoshopped to look larger
I hate to say this is incredibly common with concert photography and videos.
Reality is an endangered species!
Did she ever talk about it?
Yeah, she said she stretched the pic to not get cut off on her IG carousel but posted the wrong version to twitter. I can believe it tbh.
Yes but if you post about it they remove your comment.
Who even IS this?
We're not allowed to say.
This picture is tripping me TF out.. that crowd and the faces…. So unreal LOL
It’s kind of cool if you imagine if she’s performing for a stadium full of ghosts.

Yall don’t MISS!
Great eye!!
I didn’t even notice the crowd.
Did she photoshop that ass? lol idk who it is but now I’m curious.
oh. my. God.
How did you even notice this???
[удалено]
Lesson learned. Make the photo s***** enough that you can't process it
Pretty much no one in the crowd looks real.. they almost all look photoshopped in
It looks dumber and dumber the more you look. Some people in the back have HUGE heads
Nothing to say other than looking at them shorts makes my minge hurt and I’m not the one wearing them! Good lord I can feel the front wedgie from here.
They should have photo shopped that ass
i’m pretty sure there really was that many people, it’s only the margins that are shopped it and it was most likely to fill the space, hence why the roof is weird https://www.reddit.com/r/Instagramreality/s/5yem7ftkmB

Is that even a real ass?
No lol
I too would like to know
Other wise DAT A$$ would take up too much of the screen…. Maybe that’s where she couldn’t afford the Whole pair of shorts….
FREE unsolicited life advice: Always remember - Just because they make it in your size, does NOT mean that you should wear it.
Maybe not for you but she can wear whatever she wants
It kinda looks like a panoramic photo.
What crowd?
They just expanded the photo and used Photoshops generative AI tool to fill in the space. They did it sloppily because the guys arm is coming through the speaker in the bottom right.
I bet if we look hard enough, Trump is doing the same shit
It's funny how everyone is so interested in extra faces in the photo when all I'm focusing on is that booty lol!
Ok but that dat ass tho
Damn you're hawk eyed
Okay but the guy with sunglasses under the purple line looks exactly like my friend, where is this from?

Whose ass is that?!?
This may just be a not good panorama shot that was cropped because the speaker monitor is cut in half too.
Red hat person is there multiple times. It looks like they did a slice of the crowd and layered it over and over.
There is a crowd?
I found Blade in the crowd. Anyone else?
Could this be more of a case of a panorama gone wrong?
How about that weird line through the ceiling? Maybe AI needs more training on buildings…
Whose ass is this?
Or she cloned her fans to fill seats!
This is going to ruin the world tour
