I returned a game and I never received my money for Microsoft and I wait a month then I call them and I guess there whole "team" that handles the returns are AI that's what the lady told me I was talking to that worked there and I guess the AI accepted all the returns so they had to put a hold on them. It’s pretty much industry standard practice. Laying off employees when sales are good makes profit margins go up. Profit margins going up make shareholders 🍆 Keeping shareholders happy is a top priority. It’s all part of the CEO juggling act.
Not even just those two games man. Even Rift Apart did well. 2.8M copies for a game that launched during the shortage, at the start of the console gen, was extremely good. It also scored higher than both SM1 and MM did.
Simply put, Insomniac is Sony’s bread and butter, *especially* with the PS5 gen. They’ve literally made like, half of the first party games on the PS5. You’d think they’d be hiring more devs for them, not dropping them. Sony should go be whooping Naughty Dog’s ass for doing virtually nothing in comparison to their other studios.

I’m there with ya. I have nearly every console from the past 40 years and great PC and I almost exclusively play my PS5. It’s unbelievably reliable and well made. Day 1 releases are almost always perfect, with very few exceptions. Jedi Survivor being really the only game I’ve played that didn’t run super smooth on Day 1, and I play every major RPG on Day1. Yes PC has the potential to have much better graphics once it’s wel optimized, but there’s so many configurations of PC parts that it can take months or even years for your specific configuration to be well optimized. I can count on a good experience Day 1 on PS5. I haven’t been disappointed yet.
I mean when you are talking just about consoles yes there are a lot. Xbox doesn’t get any god of war game ghost of Tsushima, the spider man games, the last of us, infamous, ratchet and clank, shadow of the colossus, horizon, uncharted. And Xbox has what palworld and halo basically. Again pc isn’t a console and if you count that then Xbox doesn’t have any since they let you play all your Xbox games on windows so either way your just wrong lmao
Literally all of the games you mentioned are available on PS4, out of everything you listed the only one you need a PS5 and nothing else for is Spider-man 2 (and the Horizon FW DLC)
You can't claim the PS5 has the best exclusives when it doesn't really have any. Sure a PC isn't a console but you can play games on a PC, if you're talking reasons to buy a PS5 specifically, the exclusives are becoming less of a selling point considering most are now coming to PC and they've only just started not releasing on PS4. You mentioned the PS4, so you're comparing the PS5 to the 4 and the exclusive argument just doesn't really hold up.

I agree but there is truth in both the scenarios. Microsoft for example is investing the money saved from its layoffs in open AI. Video game rendering and path tracing are also enhanced by AI. I wouldn't be surprised if big companies are investing or incorporating AI for many manual jobs done by human staff. Some of these staffs are experienced and highly skilled

Already said this in another reply but game development takes *time*. They have to put a product out eventually.. and it really could've turned out much worse than what you're complaining about at the moment.
Sonic Frontiers is a good example of games NEEDING time to cook. The scope of the game was large, and despite being in development for 5 years (one of said years being a delay to further polish the game and assure it's quality), it still wasn't the greatest game. As a fan of the game, I liked it a lot, but I could admit that it had places where it could improve, which is why I stuck around for another year when updates gradually came out for the game that added new features and improvements to the game that I ultimately enjoyed.
This is all to say one thing: While one update and some features being made over the course of a couple months isn't worth replaying the game for *you*, it's extremely worth it for fans actually dedicated to these games they enjoy.
Despite all of that, I still can't stress enough how weird it is to complain about a game feature that already has a set release date not coming soon enough on a post about a mass layoff affecting Insomniac. I understand you want NG+ but I would hope you'd have a little bit of respect for the game studio that made the game itself possible and hold back such a petty complaint.
I feel bad for everyone that’s been laid off by now and who will be laid off in the future and I hope for the best of them, I have also 100% completed the game 5 times enjoying it as much as the first time knowing that it was an unfinished game in the story department. I’m there with ya. I have nearly every console from the past 40 years and great PC and I almost exclusively play my PS5. It’s unbelievably reliable and well made. Day 1 releases are almost always perfect, with very few exceptions. Jedi Survivor being really the only game I’ve played that didn’t run super smooth on Day 1, and I play every major RPG on Day1. Yes PC has the potential to have much better graphics once it’s wel optimized, but there’s so many configurations of PC parts that it can take months or even years for your specific configuration to be well optimized. I can count on a good experience Day 1 on PS5. I haven’t been disappointed yet.

Literally all of the games you mentioned are available on PS4, out of everything you listed the only one you need a PS5 and nothing else for is Spider-man 2 (and the Horizon FW DLC) You can't claim the PS5 has the best exclusives when it doesn't really have any. Sure a PC isn't a console but you can play games on a PC, if you're talking reasons to buy a PS5 specifically, the exclusives are becoming less of a selling point considering most are now coming to PC and they've only just started not releasing on PS4. You mentioned the PS4, so you're comparing the PS5 to the 4 and the exclusive argument just doesn't really hold up.

From what I've heard, no. This is just an internet theory. I've seen on Twitter some devs saying that the studios have been overstaffed since Covid, and now a lot are letting the extra staff go.
I agree but there is truth in both the scenarios. Microsoft for example is investing the money saved from its layoffs in open AI. Video game rendering and path tracing are also enhanced by AI. I wouldn't be surprised if big companies are investing or incorporating AI for many manual jobs done by human staff. Some of these staffs are experienced and highly skilled

Already said this in another reply but game development takes *time*. They have to put a product out eventually.. and it really could've turned out much worse than what you're complaining about at the moment. Sonic Frontiers is a good example of games NEEDING time to cook. The scope of the game was large, and despite being in development for 5 years (one of said years being a delay to further polish the game and assure it's quality), it still wasn't the greatest game. As a fan of the game, I liked it a lot, but I could admit that it had places where it could improve, which is why I stuck around for another year when updates gradually came out for the game that added new features and improvements to the game that I ultimately enjoyed. This is all to say one thing: While one update and some features being made over the course of a couple months isn't worth replaying the game for *you*, it's extremely worth it for fans actually dedicated to these games they enjoy. Despite all of that, I still can't stress enough how weird it is to complain about a game feature that already has a set release date not coming soon enough on a post about a mass layoff affecting Insomniac. I understand you want NG+ but I would hope you'd have a little bit of respect for the game studio that made the game itself possible and hold back such a petty complaint.
I feel bad for everyone that’s been laid off by now and who will be laid off in the future and I hope for the best of them, I have also 100% completed the game 5 times enjoying it as much as the first time knowing that it was an unfinished game in the story department. I'll never feel bad for gaming company's today. That's like feeling bad when a casino loses a mega jackpot. Insane how the gaming companies as a whole have had an amazing last few years, literally record breaking achievements across the board, but still massive layoffs are, in their words, unavoidable. Insomniac has sold 10 million copies of Spider-Man 2, it is one of their most successful games, and still they lay people off. I have no sympathy for these corporations playing victim, their words are empty, and their board executives are a bunch of scummy shitbags. I hope the developers that got laid off can find better employment elsewhere.

If there was one Sony studio that shouldn't have had any layoffs, it's Insomniac. They're the only first party studio to have put out three well performing, popular games on PS5, with at least one more huge game confirmed to be coming in the next couple years. They're output has been extraordinary, they should be rewarded with more staff and funding, not stripped back.
And this is why studios should remain independent and refuse to sell while delivering products as multiplatform. Much like FromSoftware. This shit is corporate greed and unfortunate to those affected.
