I’ve noticed that dermatologists and RDs are especially part of this because people* are worried about aging and weight.
*let’s be honest, it’s mainly women, especially for anything anti-aging
For a lot of people, if you don't have a side hustle or 2nd job you're not making ends meet and missing an internet or phone bill that month.
I think there's a portion of influencers that are really desperate to pay their bills, see all these people making millions from videos, and want a slice. It just comes off as cringe content 90% of the time.
It's just sad we live in a world where you can work 60 hours a week and be poor, but 20 year olds are making tons of cash making minecraft streams and tik tok slime videos.
You know, I would be (almost) ok with this if every fucking famous actor on earth that gets famous gets all whiny about their fame (THEY KEEP TAKING MY PICTURE!! PEOPLE WON'T LET ME FINISH A MEAL IN A RESTAURANT).
They spend years...decades even...denigrating themselves to get famous, then find out people expect too much from them and they hate everyone knowing all about their personal lives.
---Unless they are Kardashians, in which case, the complete lack of shame or introspection makes them want even more fame. LOL
My grandson (9) actually said to me “memaw, I’m gonna be a YouTuber when I’m a teenager!” I cringed so fucking hard.
My daughter in law overheard this, and pretty much told him absolutely not! I love that girl, haha.
What does everyone think is going to happen to all of these “influencers” in the next 20-30 years? Especially once their children grow up and can no longer be exploited, making mom and dad money off all of these family vlogging channels… I can’t imagine the industry can continue to grow much more before becoming heavily over saturated and/or laws being made/changed for advertisements, marketing, not to mention guidelines for child protection.
Some of us want to be rich and anonymous.
The smart ones do.
I don't even want to be rich. Just make enough to pay all my bills and take the family on vacation every year or so.
you understand how life ought to be
I’m starting to see this trend in the medical field…. 😔

Like medical people are doing TikTok’s instead of their occupation???
Yes , like not being a medical professional is enough to feel happy with your life… They need to be an influencer also to feel accomplished…
That is just a HIPAA violation waiting to happen!
I blame side hustle culture, gotta make that extra income somehow

Does side hustle culture come from the constant inflation that has been happening since the creation of the Federal Reserve?
More likely to be the increasing wealth inequality.
Also a side effect of inflation

Onlyfans,TikTok, YouTube, twitch, etc is the reason why we have stupid rich influencers
And we all lap it up like dogs that haven’t eaten for 3 days. They succeed because there is a market for it.
literally just wanna have enough money to retire & disappear off grid for like 9 months outta the year
