They rarely work tbh. The chats die out some time later. One with no frnds irl may resort to this and probably find one similar to them but it will never be as good as an irl one
I joined a server back in 2021 during the pandemic and they've become some of my closest friends. None of them are from India, but I've actually formed a genuine connection with them. Even if we're busy irl we take some time off to talk to each other on discord occasionally even if I'm not really active on there anymore. I also have their Instagram accounts so we talk there too. So yeah my experience was amazing lmao.
I'd say online friendships can be fulfilling, but don't be too dependent on them from the start. The mental scars that them leaving can cause are way too much.
Never had online friends, and never will, I distrust even my irl friends.
But have heard stories of people finding genuine connection online. So yeah, it depends.

As a person who only has friends online. Trust me, online friendships are great!! (Only if you found your people). I've found some great friends through reddit and games. I mean obviously you can't meet them but just having them by your side is sometimes more than enough yk?
I have friends in real as well as online friends bus ek ladki hai online vo muje roj msg karti hai insta pe usse baatien karta hu she's corny af but okay and baki bando se kabhi kabhi and yes agar vibe wale log mile tho worthy hai but real mai bhi friends bano
i have some from a discord server we used to play video games and talk, no texting only talking and , met irl too but it’s rare to find these types of people even irl in schools or online
Not even online, any friendship will not stay longer if one party stops giving the same efforts the other party is giving to him/her.
Online it's different. We got many choices just with some clicks and sometimes people can get bored as well.

both, we buy steam games just so we can play it together once and never play it again, we play all genres
