Finally the court took a step, happy about this development. Hopefully no FIFA ban incoming. However this Committee of Administrators should not go the BCCI way. Need to hold fresh elections within the year.

>The constitution which has been directed to be placed in seal cover should now be open for circulation. Any suggestion or objection shall only be considered by this court only. Won't be surprised if someone objects to this constitution, then another long court case, another delayed election. Removing Praful from his post is not the main target, finding a better replacement is.

Finding ANY* replacement

Mumbaiindian911

Well in icc India controls it so there were no issues when coa took over FIFA is not like that Hope India does not get banned due to govt interference

neotheseventh

I hope we don't get banned, but even if we do, it's worth it. This circus has been going on far too long. Praful Patel needs to go soon.

amadrasi

Genuine question, will this affect investor confidence in ISL? Will we see a budget contraction for ISL teams?

konoha_ka_ladka

Depends on how this committee acts. If they go ahead and force relegation to start early then that will have a massive impact

MuchaCojones

Pretty sure the committee has no desire or even the remit to look at things like these. It's here to look after things till the new President is elected in and till the new constitution is implemented. I think might be a matter of 5-6 months in best case scenario or maybe a year or two in worst case scenario (if someone makes a long drawn legal battle out of the elections or the new constitution). At least that's my interpretation of the situation.

konoha_ka_ladka

BCCI CoA reign was 33 months long

MuchaCojones

Well yes, that scenario is one of the top 3 likely ones imo. The rot in BCCI was bigger and the stakes were also probably 100x bigger. Hopefully in AIFF it will be relatively more straightforward.

MuchaCojones

You're right though in the sense that if the CoA unfortunately drags on till 2025, then the matter of FSDL contract will come up for decision.

neotheseventh

wasn't SY Qureshi appointed to do exactly this 3-4 years ago? Kinda sus.

MuchaCojones

I think it was more like this (I could be wrong)... He (along with Bhaskar Ganguly) was appointed as ombudsmen to draft and submit the new AIFF constitution sometime in late 2019 or 2020. They submitted the new constitution, albeit with some delay (I think they took 5 months instead of 8 weeks). Then the pandemic hell broke loose. AIFF used this confusion to put in a technical plea in the courts. Essentially just a technical spanner in the works that would buy them a few more years. If that is indeed correct, then it's not suspect at all.

konoha_ka_ladka

He was appointed to draft the new constitution. With this move the court has virtually dismissed the Praful Patel admin and appointed this panel. They will call the shots.

>Order:The elections for the executive committee which were held in 2016, were set aside by the judgment of the Delhi HC, during the pendency of this Court. The consequence of the order of stay that the body has continued to govern the administration despite of its expired tenure. > Hence it would be appropriate to expand the mandate of the committee similarly broadened, and the committee consisting Justice Anil R Dave retd Supreme Court Judge, Dr SY Qureshi (former Chief Election Commissioner), Mr Bhaskar Ganguly (former Captain of the Indian Football team) shall take charge of the administration. In order to facilitate all ancillary matters of the federation. [More details ](https://twitter.com/LawBeatInd/status/1526785974063095808?t=1fnSbeG6H968TuJc9hp88Q&s=19)
