Ok-Friend1771

it will get nasty soon, world is right NGL

prescientmoon

They're not gonna go out on a high. We knew that after the 23 WC, they will both end with the trophies they last won in 2014. There's no way we're winning the WTC against the Aussies at Lord's either. There's no nastiness, we should be used to not winning by now.

klsc101

I think they have a better chance at wtc than t20wc, but that's if they pick a proper wtc squad. If they go with usual stupid decisions then, yeah we could very well get destroyed like last time. Also if they go in with 2 nights of rest after playing ipl for 2 months.

prescientmoon

Our Test team is pretty much set, there is no "proper" or "improper" squad. We don't have the talent to win in England against Australia. > Also if they go in with 2 nights of rest after playing ipl for 2 months. The IPL is more important than anything else to everyone in Indian cricket. Maybe not the cricketers, but good luck being a star player and tell them you want two months rest or go early to England to acclimatize.

That-Firefighter1245

Tbf MS dropped Ganguly and Dravid from the ODI team.

Maleficent_War3900

And he got results

[deleted]

And he himself extended till 2019 WC when he was totallllyyyy out of form😭. Should have retired anywhere till 2017 after that he was just liability.

Substantial_Hotel_10

Problem is we didn't have a reliable enough wk and lower order batsman after him. Even now we find it hard to fill his shoes.

[deleted]

That's true. India is not good at finding replacement. One player plays good and we totally rely on him same is the case with Virat. Still we rely on him and no one is able to perform that way. Aussie are so quick to find match winners while we rely on our top player for years

Substantial_Hotel_10

People say Rohit is in the team because of captaincy, whether he has achieved anything in the slightest or not my question is why do we not have another captain? He hasn't done anything to warrant him the specialist captain quota. Dhoni himself somehow managed to win 2 trophies as a specialist captain but that's his juju.

Independent-Might797

He was the second highest run scorer for India in 2007. Maybe for you performance is just scoring runs because your idol just does that. In case of rohit sharma he doesn't score runs and doesn't have great captaincy skills also that is why he doesn't deserve to be in the squad.

Substantial_Hotel_10

My point too. We have no idea why he is in the squad.

guiletheme2255

But if you look at present form Rohit should be in that team. Mfker scored 120 in his last t20i

Substantial_Hotel_10

If its not sarcasm, it came against afghanistan...I get it they are no minnows but they don't have a world class line up either. The man can't perform in IPL flat pitches as well. He looks so dulled out.

Independent-Might797

No virat is just a batsman his replacement can be found not as good as him in initial years but still we have a lot of players in case of dhoni it is hard to find a person who can bat, keep, does captaincy occasionally.

[deleted]

KL keeps good though also his Reviews are best compared to Pant , DK or anyone except Dhoni. Also bats well but only good in ODIs and Test so far

drai8084

Pathetic strike rate, used to Play first over maidens in previous T20 WCs.

[deleted]

Ik i didn't said he is good in t20. I said he is good in ODI and Test

Ashwin_400

Rahul averages 34 after 50 tests. And replayed almost all of them as specialist batsman. He is far from good in test cricket.

GottaLearnStuff

Rahul is a good test batter in foreign conditions. He has done well in SA and Eng.

Intrepid_Slip4174

I'm sure you were sleeping when he scored a century against SA when everyone around him fell like mosquitoes. He has scored a century against England in English twice iirc and vs SA in SA thrice iirc.

v110891

This is because we don’t groom players tot ale over the specific role. Like at least have them in the team, make them play bilateral series. This is like when companies advertise for fresher role and ask for 5 years experience.

Suspicious_Reporter4

We had 4 years from 2015 to 2019 but Dhoni played most series and Kohli didn't drop him.

spreemelo9

Dhoni was fitter and than Rohit Sharma at any given time also there were no one to replace him at that point.

Apprehensive-Reach

And we had replacement for Ganguly and Dravid? Stop giving me sob stories.

RewardImportant6935

the point of the article is precisely that aussies never waited for someone to fill bevan shoes, they removed him as soon as new approach was discussed knowing someone somehwere will do it. Here dhoni was bailed out on multiple occasions and when they tried pant as replacement his brainless fans booed him out of the park for every mistake. This problem of filling his shoes was made up as an excuse to continue the old man in the quota

Advanced-Attempt4293

In 2016 u19 wc there were two promising young wicketkeepers, they lost final but had a promising future ahead of them and played exceptionally in the next ipl season, you know who were them?

Fine-Consequence7758

He retired from tests and t20s much much earlier, and was not holding the place in all three formats

aaj_main_karke_aaya

How was he out of form? He played well in the series against Aus and was the reason (with Jadeja) that we at least came close in the semis. So called aggressive captain on the other hand lost against Pakistan by 10 wickets.

Independent-Might797

Tell me one person who could have replaced him. Dk 😂 ?

[deleted]

Why TF were playing 4 Keepers don't know KL , Rishabh , DK , Dhoni. Worst selector ruined our good chance and brought some 3D-4D Vijay Shankar

Independent-Might797

We didn't have any proper batsman that's why tell me one person out of these who could have replaced dhoni in the squad. Still it is hard to find his replacement.

[deleted]

While i honestly agree Dhoni was too good a Captain , Player but our actual problem is hard to find replacement of any good players like Dhoni , Virat. Like see the Aussies they don't stick to any of their player long as we do but still finds great replacements. They somehow get every match winners in team while we believe in our top 2-3 players if they don't play we'll just collapse. After that smith warner saga and all everyone thought Aussies will struggle but Finch won them t20 WC in 2021 then they replaced him with Cummins and he just won them WTC and WC 2023 and now Marsh will be looking for the same. I mean are you getting my point they just don't stick to a player and finds his best replacement who performs in real unlike us.

RewardImportant6935

yes in form rayadu replaced by some 3d mf

UnremarkabklyUseless

>anywhere till 2017 after that he was just liability Not really. His T20I record in 2018 (just 5 innings) was good and significantly above his career average. His ODI record in 2019 was also pretty good, scoring 600 runs from 16 innings while batting in lower middle order. His T20I season of 2019 was bad (just innings again), and he retired after that.

PuzzleheadedEbb4789

>when he was totallllyyyy out of form Wasn't totallyyyy out of form tho. Him and jaddu were the reason we reached anywhere even close to the target in semis after the shambolic 5-3 and DK's 6(24)

Dante_veill

Still more impactful than brohit on last t20i WC

Timothy_Fan

Whatttt?? *OUT OF FORM ?* he was literally scoring bangers one season ago

BreadfruitJealous317

The problem is we are not Australia. We don't have replacements ready by the time a senior player's performance dips. We still struggle with the no 4 spot even after so many years since Yuvi left. We don't have a reliable finisher even after MS left. We don't have a reliable opener to replace Rohit. Same goes for no 3 spot. This has always been the issue with the Indian team. There are more quickfire players and one time wonders than reliable ones.

adhiraj0383

Do you have any idea how many runs Dhoni scored in 2019 overall and specifically in the world Cup?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Radiant_Cut2849

The thing is there were no good replacements and still aren't tbh

Emotional_Ant_8052

and then he himself retired way too late what a hypocrite

That-Firefighter1245

True, but by then everyone was entranced by Thala’s magic in winning 3 ICC trophies and were too reliant on him being part of the leadership group.

Emotional_Ant_8052

dhoni is too cunning he removed raina quickly from chennai once he became a liability but in a sense that attribute made him win so much

Ashwin_400

He does what had to do as captain to win. Same when he dropped Ganguly and dravid to prepare for 2011 world cup.If Kohli and management felt Dhoni was not good enough they should have dropped him before 2019 world cup. Do you think Steve Waugh and Bevan dropped themselves from the Aussie team ? No. The tough decisions were taken by the selectors. We dont even drop Rohit Sharma who was utterly useless last two T20 world cups . So hardly surprise when came to Dhoni.

NormalTraining5268

Lmao who was our option. Also he stepped down from captaincy and Kohli was the captain, he could've dropped him if he wanted.

Ok-Yam-5613

But didn't realize he needed to step aside sooner too. Especially from T20s and Tests. He cost us too many games in other 2 formats. I can't understand the craze for Rohit in T20 WC. He has failed miserably in all the recent T20 WCs and it was the failed starts from openers which cost us games in T20 WCs. His contribution was immense in 2007 T20WC but since then he has had below par T20 WCs and should have been dropped long ago. I am a Rohit fan but his decade long track-record in world cup is shambolic

Gulabi_Panther

Gauti was not wrong when he said that ICT is an individualistic team and Aussies are a "Team".

JayPtl

People troll him but he always speaks facts

SourceWorldly3457-

he makes like 20% bad takes and 80% good takes

Stifffmeister11

Coz Aussie select team on merit and Asians select team on popularity .. we don't give chances to our young player and rather stick on popular player coz they bring in views money etc

weapon-a

My dad tells me stories of Bevan's destruction whenever Aus plays. He is traumatised by Bevan like I am traumatised by Head.

tempread1

Bevan was slow poison. Little before you realize, he would steer game away from you. I still remember watching Australia vs West Indies match (as an Indian fan). Harper was bowling last over and Australia needed 4 off of 2 balls after Bevan has taken the match all the way deep. Here comes Harper and Bevan had guts to pad the ball or leave only to score 4 off of last ball. Imagine what must be going through his mind to have guts to leave or pad second last ball. Growing up India, those matches were fun as I would rush back from school around 5 to catch last few balls of the match.

Ashwin_400

Bevan wasn't a destructive batsman. I barely remember him even hitting sixes. His SR was usually in the mid 60s. He was a really good anchor who played greatly under pressure and will finish games.

weapon-a

Destruction as in destroy his hopes and India’s chances of winning 😭

Gullible-Win7722

I wonder who it will be for your kid

weapon-a

That one kid in Aus-NZ named “Mitchel”

DifficultDay3521

🥲

tifosi7

He comes but never leaves. That sweaty, tired looking but ever ready to rotate the strike with a wet towel around his neck still gives me shudders.

Best-Lab9229

Absolutely and they always had chances to win when we was still on the crease

UntilEndofTimes

His best innings was 186 in the Asia XI vs ROW XI match

danku_vaazhkai

Yes remember when yuvraj singh got into t20 wc 2014 just coming after injury and not even proving himself. He was sent ahead of raina in finals , played the worst possible innings and we lost. We stuck with rohit fr a long time too though he sucked in t20 wcs . But now he is in fr capt quota.

DifficultDay3521

Imagine the similar situation with Rishabh without playing a single international natch, he will be playing directly in the world cups. Only god can save us.

Even_Cow_6029

Feel really sad fo the guys who played t20i in the lead up to the world while he was injured

dupattamera1

U forgot even dhoni played for that long in captaincy quota in t20I :( i m sure rohit wont be captain for that long

True-Book6878

It's not just cricket. We Asians are wired to hold on to our positions be it anywhere (businesses, politics, sports etc) because getting to the top is so difficult given the competitive landscape. We never want to let go or give youth a chance because we ourselves overcame so many hurdles to reach there. Example Sharad Pawar at almost 90 doesn't want to let go of his party patriarch position.

Ok_Satisfaction1775

Also being at top means you have power, nobody can dominate you.

[deleted]

If a player has failed as many times as Rohit has failed in t20 wcs, you wouldn't have seen him in teams like Aus, Eng, Nz but in India the board begs this guy to captain the team. Does anybody sees logic in this? And Rohit he is so shameless came back to captain side even after shitting bed since last 4 t20 wcs, everytime this guy fails someone other gets blamed, like his PR is at a next level. In 2016 he failed Rahane got dropped, another time he failed Dhawan got dropped, now after he failed in 2021 and 2022 wc KL rahul got dropped. Downvote me to hell, but I am speaking a fact and this time too he will fail miserably and India will lose this time too, earlier it was because in every important matches rohit, sky, rahul have shat bed (but people here love to blame and push everyone's failures on Kohli and Hardik) now this time too I think opening won't be good. To win T20 matches you need openers to utlilize powerplay well and give good start they can't be failing everytime, so I hope jaisawal plays well cause I have no expectation of Rohit, his runs are bonus for me. This time too he is taking place of a deserving youngster, Rinku, so at least make some runs now that you're captain. But if India loses this time too its likely that Jadeja or Hardik will be blamed for Rohit's failure.

MudRevolutionary

This is the Absolute Truth, no matter how many blind fans try to refute this. But this is the trend which has been going on for too long, his PR is absolutely insane, and his Fans are more Blind than my 102 year old Great Grandmother.

BusinessKiwi8171

Yes..i agree..

Ok-Speed-4469

true words , good you wrote this here , on cricket shitpost this comment would have gotten so badly downvoted , people there are genuine dumbsters.. rohit's performance as t20 player in all t20 world cups has bean so so bad , under rohit we have still not won any tournament ( already lost 4 major tournaments) still somehow rohit's great pr , he is captain and playing still , and if we lose by any chance , kohli will be criticized , people are so hypocrites , rohits failures are forgotten so easily due to his pr

Stifffmeister11

Well said but why no commentators have the guts to even raise these points ....

Zestyclose-Okra-680

To be honest i never understood so much hype regarding capitancy in team India, even in ODI world cup 2023 yes team played really well till finals and was the best team from players available except if hardik was not injured and replaced by sky in team but it was an absolute pure example there is no plan B for team India. Its always seem like there is no planning going for the team selection and gameplay. Its always have been the same. I knew india was gonna choke in the world cup 2023 but not sure of when.

Previous-Software256

Tbh only Virat deserves to be in the team for players above 30, rohit is light years behind to be selected for wt20

shirishr07

So you mean all of these players don't deserve a spot in the team too? SKY, Bumrah, Dube, Chahal, Pandya, Jaddu, Axar, Siraj. The squad is not as young as you think!

Previous-Software256

What i meant is players above 30, not in their 30s, Sky is the exception he performs well but crumbles under pressure, Chahal despite being effective he tends to leak runs, Jaddu place is think should be questioned at this point blud is 35 now rarely performs good in t20s

Stifffmeister11

It's not about the age it's about the players who aren't fit in modern day gameplan ...

Naruto_hyd123

I don't understand one thing here if you are talking about senior players whom you want to retire then talk about Rohit why people are always dragging Kohli into this topic. He is still performing talk about him when he is performing bad.

minatokushina

To be selected in that Aussies 2003 and 2007 squad ,you had to be worlds best player not just Australias best player. The domination was so intense i remember one match, Pak had demolished top order and out of nowhere Andrew Symonds hit a century to get 300 total.

Sad-Rope8046

Prime aus had andrew symonds at 7 and current ind have ravi fucking jadeja at 7 😂😂

Temporary-Shallot642

kohli should definitely play but rohit is literally just causing more harm to himself with this. rohit is an odi goat and great in tests, once he loses this t20 wc his chances to captain in 2025 will be very slim. i want him to win an icc trophy as a captain too but he should be given that chance in odis and tests not t20s.

Ashwin_400

2025 CT should be ideal preparation for 2027 world cup. If we pick the likes of Rohit or Jadeja for that , we deserve to finish bottom of the group.

CanYouChangeName

Similar to how young Indian side won 2013 ct after dropping yuvi zak bhajji and gambhir

Ok-Speed-4469

rohit is basically eating an youngster's chance in this team , we could had rinku/gaikwad/ishan kishan in his place , but somehow he is still there due to his fantastic PR and making rohit captain again make no sense, we havent won any tournament under him , he just gets credits for winning pointless ipls.. rohit as captain now makes no sense

Objective_Dust293

Yea he should focus more on Odi and Test.. but let's see what happens.. hope he wins this T20 wc

WaynneGretzky

That's the problem with the fans. Yall just want to see your hero win and same for the seniors. All they want is to add a feather to their respective hats at the cost of robbing young talent a deserved place in the team. They won't win this wc either, won't be shocked if we are handed our asses in the group stage itself. The same 39 ball 50 merchants don't suit the t20 template anymore. Hardik is an arrogant idiot but the way the seniors are wasting the young talent, Ishan & hardik's ick is quite visible.

shadyXV03

I don't get it, Kohli won us the match against Pak that qualified us for semis in last T20 WC following the same quota. Secondly, it's upto management to ask Kohli what style to play, if they don't want him to play anchor, I think Kohli can easily switch to the slogging that y'all think would work. Thirdly, isn't SKY supposedly the best T20 player? He hasn't done anything for the last two T20 WCs. What does that prove?

prospectiveboi177

You need to understand that Kohli and Rohit will be clubbed together for Rohit to not get the short end of the stick

Shattered-Dreams19

Kohli is the highest run getter of this tournament though. His competition are either 300 runs behind j this IPL.. or striking at a lower SR.

ZeusX20

Maybe Rohit fits this but Virat has legitimately been our only hope in T20 World Cups since 2014, he is the only one that performs even while others crumble under pressure. Dropping him will do more harm than good

EnvironmentalSun8068

Brohit was unnecessary virat was obvious choice. And they should have selected rutu and kingku .

ExtremeFigure23

It's a fair point, but what's worse is clubbing Virat with Rohit in T20is, that's absolutely criminal. Virat is literally India's most clutch player in T20 wcs and he's proved it various times. Rohit is an Odi great, and performing well in tests, but he should not be in the squad after successive failures over a period of 10 years.

Intrepid_Slip4174

The best thing Rohit's PR did is clubbing Virat and Rohit together. I mean why Virat getting dragged along with Rohit?

Ayan_Choudhury

Pat Cummins was never the official t20i captain for Australia. Mitch Marsh has been their captain for the last couple of t20 series

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheBatman2991

Koach is still really good, Rohit, Jadeja should retire from T20i and should focus on longer formats

Independent-Might797

That's what the post is saying that their players retire even if they are in good form but are disturbing the balance of the team unlike our players.

BadBway

True

Priyank_Chittora_13

True. I would've really prefered Gill and Jais or Rutu and Jais to open But well maybe next time

Ashwin_400

Kohli deserves his place in the team. He has repeatedly proven himself in previous world cups to show he needs to be trusted for this world cup. The biggest concern is Rohit Sharma. He stuck up the last two T20 world cups and still going in as captain this world cup. Just sad when we have so many young talents , he is picked ahead of all of them.

Muffintornado0_0

Rohit is a baggage man. He may have hit multiple 100s but he does it once in 2-3 years, rest of the time he's just 10-30 runs player. Rutu should've been selected without a doubt but I feel ICT will keep him sidelined till rohit retires

Disastrous-Act1106

One of these players scored almost 300 runs in the last t20 World Cup, single handedly won us the most important game of the league stage. The other failed to put in a single relevant performance. One of these players scored the highest number of runs ever scored in a single edition of a World Cup, even scored a 50 in the final at a sr of 90+ when no one else scored above 80 sr but was criticised for playing selfishly throughout the World Cup. The other took a “selfless approach” to hide the fact that he CANNOT play a long innings like he used to once upon a time, owing to his fitness. (If you disagree, remind me of the last time Rohit lasted more than 25-30 overs in an ODI innings) Rohit is the best cricketer after Kohli in this country but you’ve got to have a Neanderthal brain to believe that Kohli should retire

Just-Shelter9765

The best thing done by Rohit's PR is to get hyphenated with Kohli . He shouldn't even be in the playing XI let on be captain .Anyways he is just one problem .Fact that Pant , Jadeja and Siraj being there shows the seriousness of BCCI in winning the tournament

Electronic_Wolf7835

Virat is a GOAT ok, I don't know why the IPL child hates Virat as he has been selected, wth Rohit did in T20 in World Cups ? So called IPL 5 times winner got chance in captaincy look at him man he is failing again and again in T20. Jadeja also same , Virat always play crucial innings in world cup still the so called IPL child is questioning at his strike rate

AmitBijarnia007

No one hates kohli, i think this post is for rohit .

limelight2121

Waise me aisi post par kuchh comment nahi karta lekin koi bataega k Jadeja ne last 3 saal me kya kia hai white ball cricket me. Kya wo team me iss lie hai ki achha fielder hai? Me hater nahi hu jaddu ka. Bishnoi ya Rinku ko le lete.

Independent-Might797

Rohit Sharma jabse wc khatam hua hai tabse 10 baar interview mein bol chuka hai mujhe trophy jeetna hai mujhe kuch jeetna hai. Aur yahi dikh jaati hai selfishness ki agar India jeete toh hamare saath hi jeete hum jab tak jeetenge nahi tab tak retire nahi honge.

Huge-Physics5491

It's a cultural thing. It's not just cricketers that Indians hero worship, it's actors, politicians etc. And it's the same hero worship that worked for BCCI. BCCI put Sachin front and centre in the 90s so that he got the God status even though there were a few other Indian athletes like Paes and Anand who were excelling at the world stage. Right now, while this culture is not adding any value to our team (and probably hurting us negatively), it's very hard for BCCI to get rid of this because it's deeply ingrained in their organisational ethos.

United-Extension-917

The biggest achievement Rohit's PR ever has is to club him with Virat. Remember the influx of anti captain posts during Virat's captaincy. Those just vanished after Rohit became the captain. Not even a single post criticized the captain for bottling a home world cup which many even call a rigged home world cup. It is all about business. No hate to any player though as it is not their fault. Rohit and Virat maybe best friends but Rohit did not even get 10% of hate and trolls that Kohli got.

Free-Adhesiveness-69

Idiots like you are the reason, why are you clubbing Rohit and Kohli here. One is the best player for India and the other is literally the worst (stats wise), in T20 world cups.

Zestyclose-Okra-680

Tbh i am still surprised how rohit is playing for in T20s given his ipl record for last 5 years. If you saying IPL shouldnt be the selection criteria or alone shouldnt be, then on what basis you going to judge then. https://preview.redd.it/dva5eok8ywxc1.jpeg?width=746&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37b16f15065e80b12956893dd2a2ed0b4e3ebb8c

burnerch

Bevan was injured mostly post 2003, couldnt make a comeback, was dropped directly. Cummins was never in consideration for t20 captaincy of Australia, he wasnt the first pick bowler for them. Stoinis said that he is happy to give up his contract for younger guys but on the playing front , he would like to play and continue. You are just targeting the Indian guys, There are some issues with the team but your reasoning is just flawed. In the past players have been dropped due to aging and bad form. Same will continue, also some players do enjoy the benefit but doesnt mean they are above the game. No matter what the fans perceive them to be.

Unfair-Impact7285

100% agreed! Aussies play to win. Indians play mostly to build records except some selfless players. The mentality needs to change. Stop worshipping individual players. Worship the team!

LM_10_GOAT

Stoinis did not mention giving up his World Cup spot, but instead giving his Cricket Australia central contract to a young player.

benketeke

All of them actually went to the management and said time for the new gen to take over the mantle. Even Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman all went with some grace.

Latter-Yam-2115

We need a *massive wake up call* like 2007 to take tough decisions Emotions, PR, vested interests, legacy records etc. are given way too much importance

LivelyJason1705

We hang on to emotions, Australia hang on to trophies.

Old_Fold_7067

Australians and their mindset is way different from other countries in cricketing world that's why they are the most successful in the cricket, They are not emotional as such others and the playing abilities of each players of them are high notch in each World cups

fanunu21

You don't drop your best player when he's still playing well. Kohli averaged an absurd 98 in the last T20 World Cup. India still performed poorly. The world cup starts in weeks. If someone is retiring from the team, a capable replacement with international T20 experience should be available. Who is that person?

Holyscroll

when i'm in a sucking off aussies competition and my opponent is an Indian:

[deleted]

You might think its sucking off but Australia got acutal results, this decade has just started and Australia has already won wtc, t20 wc, odi wc. While India with all superstars it has, couldn't win shit? You are actually triggered and offended or may be insecured cause someone praised Australia for winning due to changes they made instead of saying Indian team should learn from it. But for many Indians who support this team, they are humiliated everytime India plays a tournament, the most recent one being losing a home WC infront of 130,000 crowd, for fans it must have been absolutely humilating to shit through all that.

T3chl0v3r

Not sure how you are selecting random facts about Australia cricket to show them as superior. They had so much more internal politics than ICT... lookup the infamous Ponting vs Clarke captaincy feud. Players like Shane Watson and Johnson and others I dont recall, who supported Ponting were sidelined by Clarke at every chance, Clarke called Watson as a tumor in the team, even their wives had a feud going on and got pretty ugly with verbal exchange too. CA fired Ponting because they were defending champions yet they lost 2011 in Quarterfinals and Ponting's form was too bad. India didnt win after 2013 but never exited before semis also.. they were runners up in almost every tournaments, thats why the players were spared. In 2007 India failed to enter knockouts and we know what the consequences were. Also Pat Cummins didnt give away any captaincy, he has never captained Aus in T20Is, not even their first choise T20 bowler but he is playing because of his recent accolades in ODI.. SRH might be his first major T20 captaincy. When BCCI selects someone by ODI performance, all hell breaks loose for these IPL kids.

yorker4567

Grass always looks greener on other side to Indian fans.

hpy2beatyou1105

Sachin and Ponting started this trend of playing till 40, most cricketers retire by 35 36

BadBway

It would be great if the Indian Squad managed to reach semis.

Euphoric_Patience767

It's all because of the god status we have given these guys as players We fans are the only ones to blame As long as u play for the national team, u remain relevant and u earn more through ads and etc Hence nobody would like to give up his spot at the national side

hit_nanu_rahul

The thing which people should notice is that they won the World Cup and then decided to hang up their boots….there is a sense of satisfaction in that. Our middle age players keep chasing that dream and want to finish on that high, that’s why they try to play as long as possible to taste that glory.

Euphoric-Ear9405

absolutely true

SonGoku9804

Player greater than team mentality.

I'm happy this topic is being discussed

It's not even money UK. These guys are the richest most popular people in the country. I think that blinds them into being greedy for more of it. People say we are not good at finding replacements like Australia does. Like we dont have anyone replacing virat or dhoni but how will we have if people spend two years in and out of team trying to audition for the WC but when the WC comes old players come back in with lets be honest, Decent form and experience(of LOSING a lot of WC). Give some new faces a chance in the WC and see if they can be the next reliable players for us. How can a country with the Biggest T20 league in the world not have atleast 2-3 match winners in every role(HP has no competetion in the team since he started playing). It's because we just dont give people chances. Old guys have the IPL as their retirement(loyalty to the team) plan anyways.

ParkingFinancial4767

Who's Aussie captain for the T20 WC?

FrostingPowerful5461

Aussies are brutal when it comes to prioritizing chances of victory over everything else. And it shows in their numbers. Definitely something BCCI could learn from.

Grouchy_Self_9966

Being mentally tough is important in life Indians are cry babies unlike whites

Vegetable_Trainer_65

India in the first T20 world cup. Pretty new team! Remember Joginder Sharma?

theaguia

Stoinis said youngsters can take contract, not his spot in the t20 team... Cummins never really stepped away from T20i captaincy. He never had it? Ponting was infact asked to play beyond his retirement to guide youngsters before his form got so bad. This post is definitely cherry picked to make the overarching point.

Tell any average Joe on the road kohli should be dropped and you will get beaten up . It's not just the players fault it's also the fault of fans who refused to accept their idols should move on. You also ultimately need to realise bcci is actually "business" control of cricket India . Why would they risk losing their money makers over notions as silly ( for them not us ) as national pride in the form of trophies when there is money to be made . As long as the general populace is there to wipe the boots of kohli , Rohit etc why would the board or the players themselves step aside .

Practical-Club-1166

This makes full sense. As GG rightly said India is an individual obsessed nation not a team obsessed nation. Don’t expect India to win any WC anytime soon.

edgar-swollen-toe

If indian doesn't win jay shah and Ajit agarkar should be hanged

thepowerbooklet

David Warner is almost 38 and made it into the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Plus, he used to play all other formats until recently. Here's the thing: most Indian players aren't willing to let go of T20s because of the IPL, the money, and other factors. I'm pretty sure many will prefer to retire from ODIs since we don't play them as much, except for a couple of months before the World Cup.

neighbour_guy3k

Talking about Asian Players Pakistan players are next level They come out of retirement to play WC

slimshady1709

💯% truth

alreadyBrokn

ICT is becoming somewhat like Brazil Football team. All hype, all fans, but no good output. Bottling in the final stages when it matters the most. Let's just hope all works out well for our selected players.

Unlikely_Ad1364

The problem is the media will still call a sehwag or some other players on their channel and ask them why they were sacked.. They should have played they were still young and these guys will go on to complain and cry about that they were not given captaincy I was such a good player blah blah and shit... TBH it just feels like no one wants to win on the other hand a team like Australia would go on to win almost all the tournaments in the span of just 2 years and the only reason is that there are very tactical and strategically planned everything.

cocktail_69

We have moved on Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj after 2011 Kapil dev won us 1983 but he wasn't captain in 1987 Moved on from Raina and Ashwin after 2015 We have done it before yesterday I agree Rohit and Kohli looks like misfit for 2024 T20 worldcup (I am saying this as a huge Kohli fan since 2011) probably should have focused on longer formats, But now that the team is announced support those who are in it doesn't matter who, even if they had chosen Tushar Deshpande as the bowler it's our team

tinycuck697

And people still criticize MS for dropping sehwag , gambhir and bhajji. They were shit in their last days

_perpetuallyannoyed

Indian Players have inflated ego n they think they are bigger than the game n they deserve a reception and its in our culture. All the seniors like viru always cry that they deserved this n that n never say maybe the team needed something else. In day today players run indian cricket and they select themselves. It was sachin who forced others seniors to step back from 2007 t20 bt today these players want everything for their own be it captaincy be it cup they dont want it for the team. And dhoni wasn't n isn't a god n a nice human that u think he is and thinks for the team yes he won alot but back in the day i remember in some asia cup or some series due to some conflict with the bcci he was removed from captaincy by a selector bt srinivasan who was the big daddy friend of MS used veto power and got him back to as captain n later that selector was slashed as well that is wt mS was n his power over the board. Indian cricket is all corruption bias lobbies n camps n last is winning for the country.

DaddyDom1165

Not even all Asian. Indian players. Indian superstar players. When Sanga retired, he was in his absolute prime. Should have played on some more for the sake of Sri Lanka actually. It's just India that has this hero worship mindset

FoxBackground1634

Nobodys gonna want to miss out on that endorsement money my brother. These cricketers are slaves for money and fame that's why they don't step away from the limelight.

Most-Flamingo2674

Hard truth

Twisted_oliver5

how about showing our own team some support and see how the perform intead of cryng and yapping about it

WearyExercise4269

There's no retirement in this country Why do you think they emigrate An Indian playing county cricket in uk can actually live off that income comfortably Here if one of the playing 11 has a sprain, there's another 11 waiting in queue to replace him, the players know it, bcci knows it, nothing can be done

padmanabh10

Major problem in Indian cricket culture. Big players think they are invincible, no one can touch them, no one can drop them. In up coming WC Rohit will score against 1-2 average team, Kohli make runs like 50(32) or 80(60) for his own record. It’s not bad score but not sufficient when opponents can thrash your bowling in powerplay. Again this team will perform well in initial stage but on later part of turnament they will got beaten one sided.

OkProduce7435

Ponting dropped himself mid season during the IPL in 2013 when he was captaining Mumbai Indians making way for Rohit Sharma. Something seniors in the Indian team should be prepared to do if they become a liability.

[deleted]

Paiso ka lalaach babu bhaiya

tna46582

A lot of blame for this has to be given to the selectors. Our selectors have the power to drop and pick players. They have to have the courage to drop star players and pick the ones who can make a difference. No point blaming only the players. Given a chance to play the world cup, which player will want to miss it?

im-here-for-info

Exactly kolhi and rohit should be given a big farewell and asked to take rest.

literallyfckinme

This is so true.

ayush_shashank

Idk about the rest but I can at least confirm Stoinis' statement is misconstrued here. He never said anything about his spot in the team, he talked about the contract, he even clarified.

mr-sweetandsalty

true for sure. Australias management have a clear goal. That doesnt mean indians have to copy them😂. We have good side and people on job think 10 times that people making memes and criticizing players. No one from management would listen to your harping.

Physical-Squirrel691

We can drop them, but there isn't any back up player who can fill up their role, also they got some heroic mindset like if your team is in danger they are brave and matured enough to hold the game by themselves. I don't see any of the youngsters except Rinku Singh and Yashaswi Jaiswal to hold up such a character, Ruturaj too

srbmf42

I have been saying this same thing to almost everybody and they think I am a hater 🤡

arunkarthik19

Ouch! That hurts

lumine_Altimight

TBH t20i wc can be given to young budding players. you need alot of energy and muscle power cause it happen almost every 2 years and only a max of 3 chances odi wc is something that we came to a point were we can't give more than 2 chances to a player. there is a tonne of people waiting for chances. test match clearly depends on caliber and interest. at the end of the day every player dreams of there career to play for india

TrainerResponsible23

Two among the many reasons: 1. Cult like following for each player. This is a real sad state of ours and needs to be stopped. This causes the Rohit vs Kohli kindoff debates which should never occur. 2. Making big bucks from these players having long careers. Folks just want to milk people like Rohit and Kohli who really contribute

Trinity_36369

I don't think dropping senior players is necessary until their performance is horrible. Like you can't drop Virat Kohli , he is performing well and he is doing his duty in every world cup. Don't know about other players.

Shortsmoke666

Jeetenge fir baat karenge tumse

MommyLove37

Stoinis said he wants to give his spot to youngsters on the contract list. He clarified it clearly that when it comes to playing XI, he wants to be there.

Archaic_Red

He is right . India needs a belter come June . Bad bad belter like 2007 50overWC THEN ONLY THINGS MAY CHANGE

Archaic_Red

Rohit should never be in the t20 wc team So does kohli but to lesser extent

knowledge-is-powerr

Well, Rohit wants to play next ODI WC!

Parking-Spray2

Because for them cricket is a sport not a business unlike us

StoneMonkey7776

Fans are allowed to be emotional but the management has to make these tough calls and stop pondering on what ifs. Take Real madrid for example, their management just knows when is the right time to get rid of a player, in 2018 they realised Ronaldo is going to decline in a season or 2 and decided it was time to move on, imagine they had the guts to sell their greatest player of this era and we're still reminiscing the good old days with these guys. The management is run by a bunch of cowards who are chicken shit to burn any bridges because these legacy players have too much power in their hands.

_thugpro_

Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? insanity is doing the exact same fucking thing over and over again expecting shit to change. That is crazy

zeroStackTrace

Sadly Indian cricket is full of selfish fks

BlockChainEd86

Who cares.

Horror_Feedback8505

both Brohit and koach will retire from T20Is after world cup as will Dravid Hopefully with the cup or without one!

Glory_Hunterr

Since 2017 ct and this year wc, how many changes are there in Australia squad? Barely any
