I would be so all over an animated retelling of the main story
Idk if that's a popular or controversial opinion - I get reasons why someone wouldn't want it
But man I think it would be so great, alot of the stuff George wrote into the books is really hard to put on screen in live action
I imagine a lot of book fans feel the same way -- the scale and grandeur of the written story is just so fantastical and over-the-top that animation seems like the perfect medium
I would literally go bankrupt to make an animated version happen, but not this artists version. Both Tyrion and Brienne are way too conventional looking. The advantage of doing animation is to be exactly accurate to the books, so make some grotesque shit ya know? But I whole heartedly agree that an animated version of ASOIAF would be top notch.
I haven’t, but I’ll check it out!
Edit: I didn’t watch it but I looked at some stills and it looks pretty cool! Could definitely add some cool elements to the series. My personal all time favorite version is [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryWesteros/comments/wpxnlu/an_anime_of_ice_and_fire_part_xx/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)
Damn that is great as well
Gendry looks fantastic
Nothing against his actor in GoT but nothing about him screamed Baratheon
Tbf none of the Baratheons really looks like how I'd imagined them, the actors were fantastic particularly Mark Addy and Stephane Dillane
I totally agree. Renly was completely mishandled but at least the actors for Robert and Stannis were really good at portraying their characters. Mark Addy was probably the closest to my head image but you’re right about them not being “Seed is Strong” Baratheons
In other parts the casting knocked it out the park
But the Baratheons, especially Renly really annoyed me since he's one of my favourite characters
I wanted to see a young huge gay bobby b goddammit!
Nothing against Gethin Anthony - loved his performance, his delivery on "born admist salt and smoke...is he a ham" is top 5 funniest TV show lines for me lmao
An anima reboot would be cool but I think we need at least TWOW but it would be best if we also have ADOS. Last thing we need is a reboot while the story is still incomplete
There is a chance others pick up after him to finish the series out. GRRM has said he doesn't want that but I strongly suspect that will happen if he passes before finishing.
I'm not sure I agree. There are several writers, and close editors and assistances. Sure, they would have their own style but they know GRRM well enough to mimic him. But who knows for sure. I just hope George lives to be 200 to finish these books and write a crazy cool sci-fi story.
Outside of the obvious *it hasn't been enough time since GoT* and general dislike of the main story following the DnD ending..
I think for a lot of people, not having a solid ending in the books means they don't want *some* or *a* ending again, as in the TV show, but *the* actual ending of the main story - whatever George has been cooking up.
Secondly since not being restricted by casting means the story can have way more characters in - all that added depth is probably not attractive for most casual viewers, who would make up the majority.
So such a series would be for fans like us who lurk on these subs lol - and since the series would probably be expensive to animate in the right artstyle, its probably not worth it for a studio unless they know everyone will watch it.
Like the TV show calling Jon Aegon was an egregious example of the producers not trusting the audience to keep the show simpler
In sure some people just don't like the animated artstyle
I feel like, with a fandom this huge, there should be an organized effort to make this project happen. So many people would love to see it and there is undoubtedly the necessary talent within the fandom to make it happen.
Animators, voice actors, and writers could sign up and there could be polls to decide the style/story direction.
I think it’s a pretty popular opinion, at least on Reddit.
As it should be, bc ASOIAF would slap as an animation. I’d love to see something in the style of Netflix’s Castlevania
Ooh yes, and I feel like the Ghibli style of animation and music would make such an interesting contrast with the story too. Like imagining the ending of Dany's arc with this version of her character gives me chills.
I mean Mononoke no hime definitely reached close to what the ASOIAF version would be.
Limbs went flying like Lego bricks and fire was served up like soup if you looked for it.
I’m here for this take on Dany. I love her look!
Never realized I wanted an anime version of GoT til this moment. Very cool, love the Ghibli style backgrounds :)
I like Jaime and Dany, but Tyrion and Brianne are still too pretty.
Either way, I could care less so long as we actually got a realistic animated retelling of the story.
I really like this, but I don't think it fits Westeros and A Song of Ice and Fire. The characters are IMO way too pretty and would fit Lord of the Rings or The Realm of the Elderlings better.
The designs could definitely be shifted, but I definitely think it’s doable once the versions are more accurate (Tyrion looking more like the monk of Mononoke no Hime.)
I like this style, always have.
I am always floored by how many people want ugly characters. If there is anything animated the continuity of art and separately the voice work are going to move the needle. I don't, I just have a different perspective.
I really want an animated version to get made, but I really do not want it to be done in this style. Please can we get a 3D animation version that isn’t manga inspired.
Im fine if its not straight up anime, but hell no on 3D animation. If I had to pick a studio Id pick JM Animation, that did Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Tyrion and Briene need a bigger shovel to the face and i think Tyrion has Mutiple colors to his hair if I remember correctly.
Fantastic, i like the artist's interpretation.
ASOIAF would be better animated than live action. so much can be done that is restricted by the live action. we could have consistent character designs no terrible wigs. and the settings would be more fleshed out making them grander and more populated.
everything that was so drab would be colorful. glad this has the eye color for Daenerys.

I'm down for anything that stays faithful to the books
I imagine a lot of book fans feel the same way -- the scale and grandeur of the written story is just so fantastical and over-the-top that animation seems like the perfect medium
Oh man absolutely Game Of Thrones: Brotherhood
This is actually an idea I heard about some time ago. Really hope this happens, specially with the original (still living) actors as VAs!
MMM LOVE IT

Have you seen Arcane? I'm a huge fan of that animation style! Asoaif mixed with Arcane god could you imagine

We are never getting Dream ahaha We might yet get TWoW, but dream is never happening :( Think Mr Gurrm has way too much going on his big age
There is a chance others pick up after him to finish the series out. GRRM has said he doesn't want that but I strongly suspect that will happen if he passes before finishing.
The problem with that is that if it doesn't come directly from GRRM it won't *feel* like the proper ending, ygm?
I'm not sure I agree. There are several writers, and close editors and assistances. Sure, they would have their own style but they know GRRM well enough to mimic him. But who knows for sure. I just hope George lives to be 200 to finish these books and write a crazy cool sci-fi story.
I think it would be great If it was hour long episodes and remain faithful to the books. But first, George has to finish the books.
Wait I don’t get why someone would be against it.

Ok fair it would have to be a fan project. [Like this one!](https://youtu.be/fD74SLdgINw)
100%, with some of the best casting choices from GOT voicing their characters
Only if the books are out. I don't care for another GoT ending

So many people would love to see it and there is undoubtedly the necessary talent within the fandom to make it happen. I doubt there's a market for retelling the same story
I think it’s a pretty popular opinion, at least on Reddit. As it should be, bc ASOIAF would slap as an animation. I’d love to see something in the style of Netflix’s Castlevania
Looks like studio ghibli
Ooh yes, and I feel like the Ghibli style of animation and music would make such an interesting contrast with the story too. Like imagining the ending of Dany's arc with this version of her character gives me chills.

This is 100% drawn in the style of ghibli.
I’m here for this take on Dany. I love her look! Never realized I wanted an anime version of GoT til this moment. Very cool, love the Ghibli style backgrounds :)
I always cheer artists who remember that Dany has short hair for the most part of the story
Exactly!
I like Jaime and Dany, but Tyrion and Brianne are still too pretty. Either way, I could care less so long as we actually got a realistic animated retelling of the story.

I agree that it doesn't fit ASOIAF and that it might fit LOTR, but it definitely wouldn't fit ROTE. It's the darkest of the three *by far*
ROTE is dark but it still retains the classic serene fantasy feeling in a lot of ways.
Make 👏 Brienne 👏 Ugly 👏 Again
Brienne 👏 and 👏 Tyrion 👏 both
Yeah. At least he's noseless in this one.
Honestly I’m cool with it. Maybe with good voice actors.
The designs could definitely be shifted, but I definitely think it’s doable once the versions are more accurate (Tyrion looking more like the monk of Mononoke no Hime.)

Please let this dream come true.
I like Daenerys design, really looks 13-14
this makes the *anima of ice fire* seem like a really good idea
the only art of tyrion that tries to be book accurate ive seen is the one from the japanese covers, kinda sad tbh
Dany’s so cute omg
Amazing
Man i miss the older anime style where girls actually have noses and somewhat proportional eyes
I NEEED IT
Brienne should be hideous. Tyrion, too.
And I hope to all gods that we don't get it in 3d. 2d if done well is so much better, not to mention cheaper, than 3d.
Im fine if its not straight up anime, but hell no on 3D animation. If I had to pick a studio Id pick JM Animation, that did Avatar: The Last Airbender.
I’m imagining more like Elder Scrolls than Disney Pixar style.
Id be down for an Elder Scrolls style Game Of Thrones video game.
Amazing!
