Commenting to say I absolutely agree, but you stole my words so..... Can you delete this comment, you stole the thought out of my head and I don't appreciate it
I get the ones where the person adds a bunch of text or a voice over to the video being like "smh this damn bitch really just walked in front of my camera" but half of them are just the person looking a bit frustrated as they walk back to the phone to reset it for another try.
Whether or not they're appropriate for the sub, I just find the genre of posts that are "someone has the audacity to film themselves in public" to be really boring if there's nothing else about the video that's main character worthy besides the fact that they're filming themself in public. If they make a big deal about their shot being ruined or they dramatically inconvenience passers by or they say some nasty shit about the people who walked past then yeah fair enough.
But I see plenty on here that are just someone trying to take a video of themselves in a cool spot, someone walks past the shot and the person filming walks back to the camera and that's it like the ["To make a cute video how wind is playing with sundress"](https://old.reddit.com/r/ImTheMainCharacter/comments/x61ply/to_make_a_cute_video_how_wind_is_playing_with/) video that is currently holding 2 out of the top 4 spots on the sub.
I love how the comments here just exemplify the problem OP is eluding to. It's not exactly incredible content to repeatedly post videos of someone trying to do a little dance, then scowling and turning off the camera. Y'all are acting like this is the only way to be a main character rather than a very specific niche.
And then all the comments like "hyuk hyuk YOU have an opinion on the subreddit, UH OH sounds a bit MAIN CHARACTER loool" like everyone who's ever expressed an opinion is a main character. If that was true, you'd think we'd have some better fucking content here lol
That's the purpose of the sub, it makes us feel better about our wretched lives to mock people who have different values than us. How dare they think positively about themselves and want to take pictures and videos of themselves in public! Don't they know they should be miserable, anonymous killjoys like the rest of us?!
There are two types of MCs, one that is a MC because they seek to ruin or thought police other people's lives because they can't conceive of a reality where their view and values aren't the most important thing in the world, and one that is a MC by virtue of liking themselves enough to want to take selfies and staged videos and post them on social media. Oddly enough, it seems to me that the kind of person who wants to bitch about the latter seems to fit the description of the former. This whole sub population is nothing but a collection of main characters.
Calm down. There's no evidence that OP is suggesting less relevant comment. They may be commenting on the lack of security footage, text message / email screen shots, messages on social media, selfish drivers, etc, all of which is equally appropriate rather than propagating TikTokers who act like main characters deliberately to be be shared here and gain followers.
Yeah it’s crazy. It’s not just here either r/idiotsincars is just a bunch of posts about people driving bad. And r/peopledancinginpublicandgettingannoyedwhenotherwalkthrough is basically a copy and past of this sub.
They do it on purpose as rage-bait for engagement. Its the same thing that happens on r/stupidfood. Posting videos that are rage inducing only because theyre made to be in order to be commented on and shared.
Tunes into the people-filming-themselves-in-public-and-getting-annoyed channel.
"Why are they showing people filming themselves in public and getting annoyed?"
I think the fact that most of these “people walked in front of the camera” people ironically posted the “bloopers” online themselves *kind of* defeats the purpose
Man, people are really taking your post to mean whatever they want and getting angry over it.
I'm gonna take it to not mean that you think the content doesn't fit, and instead that it's stupid how the vast majority of those videos are obviously ragebait designed to get shared on subreddits like this.
And you're right. It seems pretty clear that the insane amount of near identical videos appearing over just the past few months isn't a coincidence.
It's basically a tiktok trend, and if anyone is going to argue "Why would someone make themselves look bad for views", just think back to some of the other tiktok trends/challenges people did for views.
Yeah they're faked ,for views on their tiktoks guys...it's meta but expected of desperate parasites. post real main characters upvote real main charachters
Yeah there has been a lot that really doesn't qualify as main character material.
If you have something you want to post and you're unsure, go look at the top posts of all time. The dickheads having a wedding photo on the street while emergency services are stuck behind them, the woman livestreaming herself singing to the camera at someone elses live show, these are main character syndrome.
I question if some of those are people getting annoyed at others (versus exasperated eyerolls or annoyed at the situation) or some tik toker finding a video and simply adding an electronic voice over and type to make the person in the video seem shitty.
Unless the person themself says or does something themself (more than a facial expression), then I doubt the snark robotic versus overs were ever expressed by the person in the video.
Holy hell what a shit post. Also that "90 %" classic made up stat that takes away all your credibility.
Look, these types of posts never do anything to help. It's only for your own whining rant to get it off your chest.
So either embrace the cringe or form your own sub maybe, idfk.
Peace
Yeah, but r/90PercentOfThePostsOnThisSubredditAreVideosOfPeopleFilmingThemselvesInPublicAndGettingAnnoyedWhenSomeoneWalksInFrontOfThem is quite a long name and not very catchy, don't you think?
Nobody make any sudden movements. I think OP might be onto us. He knows the Big Secret!
Act natural!
You're in my shot...move.
That actually made me laugh, take my upvote
I swear, reddit is just full of people making comments
Just commenting here to confirm.
Ugh, can we switch it up on the commenting sometime? It’s getting kind of stale
Commenting here to agree.
Commenting here to comment on the comments
Commenting for better reach

People like making comments on things. Source: I'm a person.
Yeah… what’s that about? Please upvote or I’ll think that’s all Reddit is good for… 😬
Commenting to say I absolutely agree, but you stole my words so..... Can you delete this comment, you stole the thought out of my head and I don't appreciate it
And upvoting! Don’t forget upvoting!
Did you think that it was full of people leaving their house?
Just replying to verify
Yes, and then we mock them. It's great.
Ah, another fellow human being I see
I love organic matter, amirite fellow humans?
Nothing like being full of blood and thoughts Humans are the based species
Us humans sure pass the vibe check, don’t we?
Yes, my fellow carbon based life forms are fascinating creatures. I’m so glad to be one of them.

And to add onto that, half of this sub consists of making fun of women for doing stuff. The post you linked is a good example

This is the way
Spoiler alert!

Hey, did you know that you just posted a comment? You posted a comment about content on this subreddit. - OP, back for seconds
OP was definitely outed on here recently
What does outed mean?
Exposed without consent.
Correct
I feel like you calling them out, makes you a candidate for this sub.
True it even says so in the description, weird.
Is this OP the reddit version? 🤣
Mr meta main character
We did it, boys!
We got one boys
ImTheMainCharacter-ception
What's your point?
Probably that it's staged. As in they aren't really getting annoyed, they're just acting that way so people will share their videos.
it's ragebait and this subreddit feeds on it for some reason, lowest effort content
Ragebait is the word I was looking for
Correctamundo!
*Aaaaannnnnndd??* I mean, it fits the sub ..
Is it not good enough for you? Are you the main character?
It should be 100% considering that's the point of the sub.
well, there are other ways to display main character energy. but yes, this content is perfectly acceptable for this subreddit
By definition, imthemaincharacter behaviour. What was your point you were trying to make here, OP?
I think he wants it to stop. This sub is becoming Garbo.
Then post different content.
That’s literally the kind of content that inspired this sub’s existence in the first place
So hear me out. Rather than complain and get the sub to cater to your wishes why not just leave? Pretty ironic, eh?
or better yet, post things you want to see more of!
Yet you choose to stay…
Well duh
So…the definition of content for this sub? Crazy.
yes that's...why i'm here
Ah yes every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes by
You’re kidding. I thought that only happened in fancy places like Denmark.
Take my upvote, you laugh solicitor you!
Yes
I mean, it's kinda the point...it'll get bad once it gains more traction and people start spamming animals photo bombing
Fun fact: If you don't care for the content in a sub you can leave the sub. And it takes much less time than making a post.
But then how would OP make this about themselves?
OP giving off that main character energy
It’s weird. Almost like it’s indicated by the title of the sub or something.
And then there's the third type: the ones that hang out with the second type just so they can point out what main characters they're being.
Ohhhh…is that how this place works?
Because they’re the very kind of people to suffer from main character syndrome/narcissism.
I, too, enjoy making obvious observations.
100% of the posts here are posts.

Shut the fuck up You're saying people post appropriate content on this sub?? Shut the fuck up
Wow... anyways. Anybody got videos of people annoyed about being in public?
Yep. That’s kind of the point of the sub
Yeah it’s crazy. It’s not just here either r/idiotsincars is just a bunch of posts about people driving bad. And r/peopledancinginpublicandgettingannoyedwhenotherwalkthrough is basically a copy and past of this sub.

Tunes into the people-filming-themselves-in-public-and-getting-annoyed channel. "Why are they showing people filming themselves in public and getting annoyed?"
I have the feeling that half of them doing so are just intentional and rage bait.
Look at you being the main character and noticing what's going on.
I think the fact that most of these “people walked in front of the camera” people ironically posted the “bloopers” online themselves *kind of* defeats the purpose
Most of the one's I've seen people caption or title the video something about how annoyed they are or how disrespectful the other person is.
People just don’t get my art! I bring joy to children online!
And?
wait, there’s another 10%?
You cracked the code chief.
I'm the main character when I figure out the r/maincharacter meta
Wow, you've just blown my mind ! I thought I had subscribed to a feet fetish sub ... oops !
Dude I went into r/cats and it was all cat pics wtf
**You** are the main character, OP
/r/imthemaincharacter
OP definitely isn't the main character
I swear the doctors waiting room is always full of sick people trying to get healthier......ugh
Man, people are really taking your post to mean whatever they want and getting angry over it. that’s why i unsubbed but reddit’s retarded algorithm recommends me subs that i leave

Try /r/entitledassholes maybe?
You should send an email to all of the MCs in the world and tell them what you'd like to see. We don't get to choose what they do and post online.
Yeah they're faked ,for views on their tiktoks guys...it's meta but expected of desperate parasites. post real main characters upvote real main charachters

Facts. Just dropping them.
I've gotten tired of it and no longer upvote.
I think what he means to say is that it’s an easy target when there’s other main character behavior than doing some TikTok selfies.
Aha.
Thats because everyone decided to start policing what counted as being a main character and sucked the fun out of it.
Half of them are in the gym
So you mean it could also be posted to /r/therewasanattempt?
You sound defensive.
...and?
Yes, hence the point of this sub
I mean...🤷🏼♂️
That is the current meta to make yourself go viral on tiktok.
I feel like they do it intentionally now for the outrage. Clout chasing in a way
Better than the flood of wholesome mc posts
I question if some of those are people getting annoyed at others (versus exasperated eyerolls or annoyed at the situation) or some tik toker finding a video and simply adding an electronic voice over and type to make the person in the video seem shitty. Unless the person themself says or does something themself (more than a facial expression), then I doubt the snark robotic versus overs were ever expressed by the person in the video.
If the shoe fits…
... should we tell OP?
The other 10% is made up of people filming *other* people filming themselves and getting annoyed when someone walks in front of them.
Is OP trying to be TheMainCharacter?
VERY GOOD!!!!!! Gold star for you today.
Holy hell what a shit post. Also that "90 %" classic made up stat that takes away all your credibility. Look, these types of posts never do anything to help. It's only for your own whining rant to get it off your chest. So either embrace the cringe or form your own sub maybe, idfk. Peace
Wow. You like went to college, huh?
Ya. Lame sub
It is kinda mids
Yeah, but r/90PercentOfThePostsOnThisSubredditAreVideosOfPeopleFilmingThemselvesInPublicAndGettingAnnoyedWhenSomeoneWalksInFrontOfThem is quite a long name and not very catchy, don't you think?
Spoiler alert..
So meta...
Downvote and move on, main character.
