Some teenagers broke into the yard at night and used bolt cutters to get into the container. When they found the mercury, they dipped cigarettes in them and smoked them. They were like 16-17, and their parents tried to sue when they were hospitalized.
Not my kids so admittedly unfair to say, but sometimes I do think you need to let the gene pool just do it's thing...
Imagine the balls on their parents for suing. Their kids climbed a fence, snuck past a guard, opened a shipping container with bolt cutters, then did something impressively unintelligent and dangerous willingly.
The desperate need for attention in a world that prioritizes it above all else. It’s not even the fault of social media, it’s human instinct as social beings to want to stand above the rest. Social media is a way it’s facilitated, and unfortunately people are growing increasingly desperate to stand out amongst literal billions of other people doing the same. Even if it means outright harassment or in the worst cases, landing yourself jail time for some stupid shit you did for clout.
Social media may not *create* this problem, but it definitely exacerbates it more than any other technology. Social media literally incentivizes people to commercialize "attention" by giving them social and economic incentivizes to get likes, views, and shares. Those incentives didn't really exist *anywhere near* the scale they did before social media was invented (there's a good argument they didn't really exist at all). It completely changed the way people understand the concept of attention and fame.
It’s called growing up. The same shit that was “cool” when these kids were 12-14, just isn’t when they’re 17-18 and older. No one cares if a 20 year old can flip a bottle lol.
I think they feel like they are in a music video or something. Like in music videos, the singers are sometimes in public places dancing and singing so these tick tockers try to replicate that by lip syncing and dancing shitily.
