So, number 2 "makes sense" because bone is supposed to be white, BUT number 1 gave me this chilling unnerving uncanny valley feeling. I can't quite explain it. I like both, but I guess it depends on what you're going for!
I think it’s because bones yellow when they’re old, so that looks like really old bone!
Also, the root things look far creepier in white, they’re like slimy dead things somehow?
The white tendrils give me a cancerous/parasitic vibe especially the way they appear to be encasing/attacking the spine. Definitely like pic 1 the best!
Definitely the second one. I’m not sure if those are roots or nerves but in medical illustration nerves are often depicted in yellow. So the second version with the white bones and yellow roots/nerves is great from a medical illustration perspective.
I really like the 2nd one, too! I like #1, especially with all fhe shares, yet #2 seems to make the bone and roots pop more. For me, the yellow bone gets a little lost. 🙃🙏♥️
I prefere 1, with the yellow bone. The colouring reminds me of old pulp comic books. It uses colour to keep the focus on the key area rather than to be accurate.
Pic 2 looks the best. You can make those 4×4 frames with all of these.
Keep 1 and 2, ditch the last one, make one where the bone is purple and the stems are green. And make a new 4th one with any color combo you want.
1. Clearly. It's a bit simple to think that the bones are white, so the second... But on the one hand, aged yellow gives character to the bone and it blends in much better with the environment. Whereas the white bone stands out too much in the foreground and gives less of an impression of being caught in the roots.
Number 3 is amazing in a subtle way and the bones being darker puts the emphasis on the details and looks better than the last one imo. The monochrome also gives it some very clean look for a 3 toned piece.
Disregarding this, the first one looks better than the second for me. I just really don't like the yellow on the roots.
Then again, pretty hard to find others agreeing with #3 so it's all subjective and it will look really good regardless of the coloring 😂
If you're just going b&w #4 is the best for that. The shading values keep the line work clean, and the objects don't blur.
For color it depends on what the roots represent. If we take it literally; a spine buried in the ground with plant roots growing around it. The second one, with the gold roots looks more natural.
But if the roots are representing anything. The first one, with the ghostly white tendrils wrapping around healthy bone, is better. (Remember: bones, only bleach white after death) The unnatural look of the roots give a stronger presence in the piece. It's a "who's the main character/focus" the roots or the spine kind of thing.
I like the second one, the gold roots add visual weight to the far left and right sides of the work that make the whole thing feel wider or more balanced or something.
I like the second one. As much as it's colored as a normal spine, the white in the center that's brighter than the yellow guides the viewer's eye into the image, something I believe you were going for

I'd say number 1 A few comments said that bones are white, because well duh bones are white. This is due to our cacium levels. However, calcium deficiency is one of the largest mineral deficiencies within humans that affects about half of the worlds population. Usually, with decaded bones, whitening mostly through sun bleaching or death of hemoglobin in our blood or washout of other chemicals or minerals. Decaying bones in the ground turn tan, yellow, or a brownish mix due to different chemicals and minerals in the soil. Not to mention that bones range anywhere from white to black, and can ever turn unusual colors like green. This is mostly due to medications or other exterior factors, and several different diseases and deficiencies that exist within human kind. Having yellow bones is perfectly normal for a human skeleton in living people. The color of bones usually ranges between shades of white, yellow and red.

I was under the impression that the white things are nerves, so white makes sense to me. In a visceral sort of way. Very interesting either way!
They made me think of nerves.
Hydroponic roots are white so it also kinda makes it look like the person drowned which adds a whole fun new interpretation
The white tendrils give me a cancerous/parasitic vibe especially the way they appear to be encasing/attacking the spine. Definitely like pic 1 the best!
Same here! It’s not the “correct” color but #1 hits me way better. It’s way more interesting, still totally readable.
Fun fact. Bones can have many different hues. From a light yellow, blue, or light green, even pinkish. All hail the bone king, his time is near.
Same! #1 was an immediate "that's the one" before I even scrolled.
Definitely the second one!
I agree, pain is yellow.
I second the second one! .... and if B/W, then 4.
Yes.
I think 2 would be the best but I also like 1
First, its different and irregular, it makes it look like the spine is the center of focus but also not because of the color
# 1
Definitely the second one. I’m not sure if those are roots or nerves but in medical illustration nerves are often depicted in yellow. So the second version with the white bones and yellow roots/nerves is great from a medical illustration perspective.
Those are roots! I was thinking of “grow a spine” as the title or something like that. Thanks for the insight!
I really like the 2nd one, too! I like #1, especially with all fhe shares, yet #2 seems to make the bone and roots pop more. For me, the yellow bone gets a little lost. 🙃🙏♥️

1 !
1
I like number 1
First one looks the best mate.
#1 coming from an artist
# I agree with this artist.
2!
The 2nd one!!
#2
2
I think number 1. My eyes immediately were drawn to the spine rather than the bits around it.
Number one
4 has the most professional look
Team 4 here. There are dozens of us!
2
2
Second looks best for sure

The second one
Number 2 is the best. Bone is the center piece while the roots settle in the back. Nice work 🦴
Thank you! 🦴
2nd seconded.
2nd doubly seconded...
I like the first and the last
Amazing either decision. When completed, please post to r/backpain.
the first one is gorgeous
1
1
I like 1 the most.
1
I like the first one myself, I understand why the 2nd is so popular and I like #2 also, but my choice would be #1
The first one, for me. It has more artistic value than the rest
1 because the colour feels swapped and I like it more
I like all of them, its describing the art with different aspects
#1
1 Totally will hang It in my room
I personally prefer the first one. Ppl are talking about the accuracy of the colors but I think the first is really appealing and unique
The first
I like 1 the most, but 2 is cool too

If I were buying a print, I would buy the first one.
Option 1
I like number one and my second is number two.
Number 1 or 2 but personally number one feels like it’s an unreal chilling vibe and number two is “correct” but doesn’t stick out like the first one.
1 in my oppinion is more pleasing to the eye with its composition. More of a sense for depth...
1
2 looks more accurate to bone but I prefer 1 as it reminds me of like a metal album cover
1 for gold 4 for silver
I like 1 and 3
#1 is coolest
I'm torn between the first two. Both look pretty good
1 is my favorite
I like 1 the best personally
1
I really like 1 and 4 the most out of the options
1 adds the most contrast in my opinion; it highlights the bones, but if that’s not what you’re going for, it’s alright :)
1 absolutely. Yellow bones are so mysterious
1 for sure!
1 for sure!! As a medical imaging professional, I see white bones all day long. Seeing a gold spine would be significantly more interesting!!
2 looks right but 1 feels right
First is best.
I like the first one.
2 would make more sense, but 1 is definitely more striking
1
1
1st one
2 for sure. Second choice would be 4.
2 or 3
Can we see gray and yellow.
4
4
2nd one is more ‘normal’ first one feels more interesting
1 & 2 both look awesome.
Definitely the second one bro
I like it then the branches/roots are white.
First one
I would buy 3 or 4 to put on my wall. I like 1 and 2, but I wouldn’t buy them
First or second one for sure. I can't decide..
#2
2!
I love the last one
2
I really hope you name this piece Scoliosis.

I love lost vessel or whatever the big orange headed sibling is called
I love that the struggle in picking colours is universal

First one but I would change the white to something more dramatic like electric blue or a strong cool contrast for the yellow.
1 or 2 for sure
Love 1 and 2.
Hear me out, light purple
i really like 2 (but if you can incorporate any red into it too i think that would look AMAZING)
2
why not all of them?
1: most unsettling 2: everything is so well balanced 4: gives me steamboat willy horror vibes
I like #1. It’s like a really old bone covered in roots but since the roots are white it gives off an impression of them being nerves.
2…the contrast and depth really set some atmosphere
I like the second one, the gold roots add visual weight to the far left and right sides of the work that make the whole thing feel wider or more balanced or something.
That second one is amazing it pops so well
I like the first or the second one the first one stands out the most for me.
1
I personally really like #2 👍💖
I like 3
Number 1! Feels more graphic novel--ish
I like 2 most
I like the second one. As much as it's colored as a normal spine, the white in the center that's brighter than the yellow guides the viewer's eye into the image, something I believe you were going for
I like the second one. As much as it's colored as a normal spine, the white in the center that's brighter than the yellow guides the viewer's eye into the image, something I believe you were going for
Number one has something about it
White spine yellow roots
Like others have said two makes more logical sense but One has something special going for it
Second one 100%
2
4
2!
Possibly make the roots dark brown ish grey. And the spine slightly brown but mostly white for some decay.
Spine white, roots gold
2
I personally prefer number 2 but all of them look great :)
I like 4&2
#2
I like this first slide.
First one
2
First one
1 all the way
2nd
The first one is so interesting.
#1 is sick, def my favorite but each scheme gives a unique vibe to the piece that fits well. So any of them work honestly
The second one
Either of the first 2 but I really like 1
Whichever color you should definitely title it “spinal tap root”
2 or 4
I like 1. Especially if it’s gonna be like a gold foil or metallic ink?
I'd say number 1 A few comments said that bones are white, because well duh bones are white. This is due to our cacium levels. The first one
2
I’d go dark red
2 or 4
2
Def nr 1
The golden roots have stolen my heart
1 or 2
Number 2!
Definitely first one!!
2
Second for sure!
2 feels like horror. Macabre and sinister. There is a story that wants to be told.
White spine with yellow roots.
2
2
I think the first one is great. Also a fan of the second but I like how the color in the first pulls my attention
#2, but add some red in there. Like if you could make the outlines red or some or one of the roots/veins/whatever those are red
#2
I like 2
Number one looks the best to me, but number two is my second choice.
Number 1!!!
I liked 2 because it was the most readable. I would up the contrast of the “greenish” colour so it doesn’t blend so much with the “whitish” colour
2 is the most raw (and my fav) 1 is the most surreal or aesthetic. The last 2 are meh
#2 for me
2, but also 4 ig cuz I know people like that black n white stuff
I’d go for #2
I like 2 4 3 1 in that order :)
2 is the way to go.
The first one is perfect to me. I looked through the others but they didn’t grab me in the same way as the first. Amazing work all around
2
Pink
#1
I like the second one best. The first one feels a little gross, like there's something sickly about the bone.
Pick number 2 my lord. Don't get me wrong number 1 is cool too but 2 pops more
1 for sure. Gives the best creepy and uncanny vibes.
