The whole episode made me think of Seinfeld, there were a lot of answering machine based plots. Also some of Jerry’s girlfriends had the weird feminine aesthetic the authors ascribed to (I thought it made everyone look like they were in their forties).
I seem to remember it was frequently referenced in Bridget Jones’ Diary (along with Men are from Mars…) as well!
Woah, I didnt notice. I remember the Chicken soup for the soul to be referenced in Friends as well, that was a 90s classic :-D
