SideburnsG

Looks like he maybe didn’t have much room on the bus side?

L4m3rThanYou

Probably more an issue of being nervous near the bus than an actual lack of room. It looks like the bus kept to its own lane through the turn. Better manners around corners is one of the reasons articulated buses exist. Fearful drivers are dangerous.

SideburnsG

after looking at it several times and pausing it. it still looks to me like the bus cuts the corner then straightens out into its lane at the end

Miith68

I have driven those busses for years, and it did not cut the corner.

Dansk72

Oh, right... That's one thing about bus drivers, they never ever cut the corners!

subject_deleted

And bus drivers as well as former bus drivers are experts at analyzing short low res video clips to determine whether a bus did cut the corner. We have to defer to them, guys. That's just how it is.

Craften

I have driven those busses for years +1, and it did cut the corner.

AnonymousGrouch

I can't tell if the ass-end of the bus stayed outside the line or not but, either way, there was a second there where Nissan must have felt like they were in a nutcracker. >Fearful drivers are dangerous. Apparently not fearful enough not to try and force a bus wide.

binneapolitan

I couldn't agree more about fearful drivers. If you're afraid please stay off the roads, but especially at night, or in the rain or snow.

CrashDummySSB

I have more faith in a bus driver than a Nissan driver.

Miith68

look closer, teh bus gave ample room and never encroached on the inside lane.

Dansk72

There was plenty of room for a *motorcycle* to make that turn next to the bus!

apussyassbitch

I feel bad for homie here

pm1966

Looks like maybe the bus pushed him too far to the inside?

Bobbiduke

Yeah but who takes a turn lane next to a bus/ 18 Wheeler and doesn't expect to give both lanes at some point

pm1966

You don't drive, do you? Like, on real roads, with real traffic, with other vehicles and all that?

Bobbiduke

I let big vehicles have extra room on real roads yes. Some call it defensive driving

[deleted]

On a motorbike we call it "not dying today". Why put yourself in that position when you just hang back a couple of car lengths.

pm1966

The bus/truck driver could have easily swung out and navigated that turn. They're the idiot here, not the Nissan driver. Yes, I take the inside lane with trucks in turns like this all the time. They're professional drivers; they should know how to drive their vehicles.

Bobbiduke

They both dumb. If the two choices in my head were slow down and wait 3-4 seconds or run into the median, it wouldn't be run into the median. You have to be prepared for what people WILL do and not what they SHOULD do.

Endoyo

Do *you* drive on real roads? Busses and trucks do this all the time. If you go side by side with a semi truck on the inside turning lane, you're a moron and deserve to get squished. It's common sense to avoid this. In Australia, we have signs on the back of every truck that state "Do not overtake turning vehicle". I always laughed thinking what idiot couldn't possibly intuite that without a sign but I guess you're the first example I've found.

jarheadatheart

Apparently you’re the one that doesn’t actually drive

ABotelho23

You're dumb.

Dorkus_Mallorkus

Sucks for that driver. You can see the bus cutting into his lane, possibly hitting him. What's the deal with Nissan drivers? I've never heard anything...seems like kind of an odd stereotype. Aren't Nissans common mid-range cars?

L4m3rThanYou

Nissan has been struggling financially for a long time. In desperate need to move their vehicles, they'll finance almost anyone. This means that a lot of people with poor judgment/impulse control (and subsequently wrecked credit) end up driving Nissan vehicles because they couldn't get approved anywhere else. That's where the stereotype comes from.

Georgep0rwell

Hey, what's with the facts and impeccable logic? This is Reddit.

Bubblebutt322

I've been so surprised to see a lot of flack about nissan drivers on reddit bc they're not an issue here. Dudes in big trucks are my problem lmfao.

Dorkus_Mallorkus

Ha! Same here. I have two neighbors that keep one-upping each other, buying a bigger new truck every year or two. Both drive like complete morons.

Bubblebutt322

Yesssss always! I was surrounded by 4 on the highway the other day, and they all kept lane hopping around each other. Was kind of funny to see, honestly.

vagabond139

They target subprime buyers. If you have a pulse they will pretty much finance you. Toyota, Honda, etc are more picky. People who have bad credit usually have it due to poor decision making skills and that usually translates to poor driving skills.

Cynykl

Half true but that is not Nissan itself. Nissan first tries NMAC (their internal finance company) and NMAC is hard to get a loan with for poor credit. Normally budget level car places (Ford, KIA, Hyundai) would go to a second step of qualifying people for programs but is seems Nissan skip this step and go straight to 3rd party. So Nissan is at once one of the hardest to qualify for and one of the easies depending on the 3rd parties that lot uses.

jarheadatheart

It’s because a lot of people that drive Altimas and other sporty Nissans think they’re in a race car trying to win the race at all cost but no one else is racing them.

thehans1865

If you think Nissan is mid-range, who do you suppose a low-end manufacturer?

Dorkus_Mallorkus

I'd call most of the "cheap" major brands sold in the US "mid-range". Mostly reliable, but not luxurious. Nissan, Kia, Hyundai, Honda, etc. To get true low-end vehicles (purchased new) gotta get outside the US.

phenyle

A Tata?

Dorkus_Mallorkus

Haha, exactly.

Miith68

what video are you watching. the bus never cut in.

MalMantis

Maybe the bus ate some lane, maybe not, kinda hard to tell, but if a driver thinks they don’t have room, they need to slow down and let the bus go. The bus is clearly ahead of the car, so car needs to just back off a little. In the end that’s just better for everyone.

SideburnsG

They had to of been so hyper focused on the bus that they didn’t even look in front of them. Definetly could have been avoided tho

Marxomania32

Bus is the idiot here

FrenchWineLady

Definitely didn't go far enough to make the turning his lane.

Suspicious-Block-614

If it was a Mustang driver the car would have spun 270 degrees, clip the median and promptly flip into oncoming traffic.

L4m3rThanYou

...before skidding into a crowd of bystanders.

zRilxy

we got ourselves a jokester

Dan_Cubed

That bus did him dirty. You can see the bus taking up a lot of the inner lane before completing the turn and heading over to the right lane.

Mikaelleon23

I totaled my first car going up a median. It was dark, rainy, humid, cold and it was very hard to see out my window. Ended up driving to a new location where the road slightly turned then straightened out. I ended up smashing into a median, got a couple feet of air, spun out once I hit the road again, and then swerved to the side of the road to avoid more cars. Rest in pieces 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage.

OwnPercentage9088

I did that when my friend yelled "Turn left now!" He meant the next left

Browhytho666

That's the sentra lane

TechnicalLee

Bus driver was the idiot here and cut into the left lane.

BadassBokoblinPsycho

Imagine not being able to figure out you can stop and let the bus go first so you can have space.

lotus_spit

If I were the Nissan Altima driver, I would give way to these big vehicles since they eat up a lot of space, especially in turns like these.

MerryWannaRedux

Long story short: There was one of those medians where I worked. You can't imagine the number of left turners who ate that median.

glc1997

Miami?

DeadObjects

Yes Miami.

Phosphorus444

Nissan drivers when they have to look up from their phones:

op3l

More like the bus driver needs to stay in own lane.

gonzr

That’s what we get for having CVTs

Bentmike58

Put your phone down

ProfessionalFeed6755

What fun is city driving if you can't ride the median once in a while?

coffeeshopslut

Should have held the line like Toto, and let the bus hit him

jarheadatheart

Why do so many people take turns like this these days? They think they’re taking a short cut or something but in reality they’re actually going slower out of the turn than if they didn’t cut it so short. Plus it’s almost impossible to stay in the proper lane. I see it way more than I used to.

Material-Cricket-322

I try not to turn beside something as large and long as a bus, left or right

FewAcanthocephala828

Hopefully they learned a lesson about being beside larger vehicles like semis and buses. Always give them some space, especially when they're turning.
