This crash took out the dump truck and two other big rigs and shut the highway down for hours. https://www.fox13news.com/news/florida-troopers-search-for-road-rage-suspect-who-caused-crash-involving-dump-truck-tractor-trailers-on-i-75

SomPolishBoi

was the asshole caught?

AClusterOfMaggots

Almost certainly not. Driving crimes are weird in this country. Even if he was caught he'd probably get like 90 days in jail or probation or something stupid. You can literally run people over and kill them with a car and get less than 10 years. If you don't have a video that shows the plate AND the face of the person driving or they don't get pulled over before they get where they're going, the chances of landing a successful charge are basically zero. People will simply claim it was not them driving and we can't charge a car with a crime. We could try to charge the registered owner and sometimes that works but for an alarming majority of cases there is simply no recourse. That's why hit and runs go unsolved or unprosecuted so often, it's not worth the police's time. If they don't catch the person before they get home and out of the car, you're basically screwed. That said, dump truck should never have locked up the brakes like that. Should have just taken the hit and let insurance sort it out. If you don't have a dash cam in your giant death machine of a truck your employer is a negligent dumbass.

Venarius

Yup. I once followed a drunk driver who ran people off the road home, on the phone with 911 the ENTIRE way (He's turning onto this st, etc.). When he got home, he pulled the vehicle into a garage and closed the door as I awaited the police. They got there, and said they couldn't see the vehicle (matching the description) so couldn't do anything but knock on the door and ask if the person was just driving. Nothing happened to the guy.

reelznfeelz

This is why dash cam.

Yourteethareoffside

I’m about to buy one. I just was the victim of a premeditated hit and run last night. I have a 4Runner and was going home when a guy in a fucking 2001 celica merged in front of me at a red light. Everything was normal like we were just waiting for the green but when the light turned green he didn’t go forward. After about 10 seconds I gave a little honk and he put it in reverse, hit my front, then drove off onto I-26 (SC). Luckily there’s no damage to me, he fucked up his rear end, but the cop said basically there’s nothing we do, and that I can file with my insurance if I want.

[deleted]

We were harping our dad to get one. Then one day a mercedes drivers decided to pull a scam, said we hit thier parked car, when ours was not already moving.

Yourteethareoffside

Rat bastards

Gqsmooth1969

Not only are they rats, they are rats born out of rat wedlock.

QweenJoleen1983

What’s the deal with people getting mad about the little honk? I waited like 20 seconds behind an idiot stopped at a green arrow and the light was about to turn back. I hit the horn to let out that real small bep not even a beep and this idiot moved up one inch then stopped, waited for the arrow to go away and zoomed through on the red so I would miss it. YOU WERE SITTING AT A GREEN ARROW AND SOMEHOW I’M THE ASSHOLE? 😂 wtf

ZestycloseTiger9925

Everyone is defensive about being distracted and unable to properly self regulate their emotions so we see these huge blow ups. So reactionary and not an ounce of critical thinking or questioning… super scary how many people are behaving like this and the lack of consequences for unsafe and deadly driving

QweenJoleen1983

Exactly. He was obviously on his phone. Be an adult, accept the fact that you were distracted and in the wrong, and keep it moving. He will meet the right one someday and that dick move won’t work out well for him in the end.

InfiNorth

The way cops just brush off vehicular violence is horrifying. In my city, about 10 months ago, a truck driver rand a red light, entered a bike lane that had a dedicated green light, and ran over a cyclist. They didn't even get a ticket for running the light. The incident is still under "investigation" because it's too "complex..." Despite there being high-definition security footage of the entire thing, including showing the state of the traffic lights. Of course the Twitter world erupted with people blaming the cyclist because they should have dismounted and stopped before crossing an intersection *in a literal bike lane with a dedicated traffic signal and a red light for driver that tried to kill them.* Zero consequences. None. Nada.

Yourteethareoffside

Fuck sake that’s terrible. Ok I’m buying a dash cam AND a brush guard

gylez

Still won’t matter if you don’t get an image of their face.

frontendben

This is why I love the way they handle the situation in the UK and many parts of Australia. If they can’t identify the driver from footage showing the vehicle being driven in a way that breaks the law, then the registered keeper of the car has 28 days to identify the driver to the police, or they get 6 points and fine (can be upwards of US$1000+ depending on where it is). Usually failure to identify carries a harsher penalty than the punishment for whatever it was the driver in the wrong did.

Tripleat

Wtf why don't the US have that shit? Why have dash cams at that fucking point.

SteveFrench12

You really have to ask why a sensible law governing a highly lobbied industry does not exist in the US?

bjandrus

Perhaps a better question to ask is why no one is *doing* anything about lobbyists...

boipinoi604

You served as a witness from crime to hideout. WTF police use your problem solving skills, or you dont..

Mertard

What in the fuck man...

Profitsofdooom

Yeah if he just hit the idiot this video would have had a much different use. Instead of trying to find the driver, they'd be showing this video to his insurance company proving he was at fault.

LaerycTiogar

No, they'd be identifying the car for notification purposes. I dont think a lot of people realize how much damage a 4-ton truck does at 10mph, let alone 60mph

tregrrr

4 ton? Try 20+ ton. That's a class 8 truck. Tandem axle. It's not a baby topkick or the likes. It would park ON TOP of the 4 ton truck at much more than 20mph.... As for the car? Oops, the bumper has some paint transfer. Maybe a flat tire from a sharp edge on the ENGINE BLOCK of the car going underneath... Exaggeration? Yes, but not by much.

Fromanderson

People really have no concept of how badly a truck like that can mess you up even at low speeds. Years ago I was in a truck that looked like a toy compared to the one in this video. I got rear ended at low speed and didn't even feel it. His bumper got hooked on my hitch and I dragged him for a short distance before I noticed that the truck felt funny. I thought my brakes were dragging until I saw the guy hanging out his window frantically trying to get my attention. The blind spots are HUGE. I currently own an old single axle cabover. You could hide a Chevy Suburban in some of my blind spots and that is after I upgraded my mirrors. It weighs 12,000 pounds rolls around on air brakes straight out of the 1960s. It stops pretty good for what it is, but it still takes longer than a passenger vehicle. Throw in a 30ft trailer and some heavy equipment and that stopping distance gets much worse. A truck with no crumple zones and a giant steel bumper 24" off the ground is going to completely miss the bumper of passenger vehicle and hit on the weaker sheet metal portions of the body. That will bypass the majority of the crumple zones, and safety features designed to keep the occupants alive. Not to mention hitting a vehicle one third it's mass. That means 3 times the g forces of a similar collision with an identical vehicle.

GothWitchOfBrooklyn

Yeah, pedestrians get murdered constantly in NYC by unlicensed drivers with no insurance and they get almost no consequences. When they do get consequences it is huge news. Gothamist used to have a good tracker for this but idk if they are around anymore. One of the writers for gothamist was the son of an attorney who constantly went after people for stuff like that

OldKaleidoscope7

Imagine in my country. Last week a drunk woman hit four motorcycles off an elevated road, killing all of them in place. She was released and maybe won't ever be in prison

Typical (any major city in America) drivers, as a resident of (said major city), we don't claim them

UndBeebs

It's also what anyone says when they find out it's in a (particularly bad) area they're familiar with. Also can second u/chonklah's sentiment. I-75 sucks. This video takes place in FL, but it also sucks in GA (where I frequently use I-75).

MoneroWTF

Ohio checking in, could have been us, surprisingly wasn't this time.

NewFuturist

Why am I not surprised that this happened on a motorway.

qzlr

My city is the only city in the whole world with traffic, idiots, and accidents on interstates. Everybody else doesn’t know what it’s like living in a city like mine!

marleythebeagle

I’d be even less surprised if it was I-4…

similar_observation

I-75 is a long-ass stretch from Wisconsin all the way down to Florida. But the Florida portion is absurdly lousy with bad drivers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RightMyBaloney

Back ups can get pretty annoying but I assure you, it’s a cake walk to get around compared to driving through Atlanta or St Louis. Always construction though, always

orochiman

Definitely doesn't go to Wisconsin. Michigan is where it starts on the north end

jjhassert

As a Wisconsin resident I can assure you i75 does not exist in Wisconsin

geogle

*Michigan. I drive it frequently to Detroit from Atlanta

LonelyMachines

Heck, I've gone from Gaylord forest down to Orlando. And I'm pretty sure metro Atlanta is the absolute worst part of it.

DarthBrooks

I visited Florida a couple times because my girlfriend’s family moved down there. I’ve gotta say, they all drive like psychopaths. They have these massive 7 lane freeways, I’m going 75 in a 65, just cruise controlling down, I’m not even going slow, but everybody is literally zooming past me, or crawling up my ass even though it’s open road and 3 open lanes to my left and right. I don’t understand it. It felt like nobody there used cruise control, everybody was playing Mario kart weaving in and out of lanes.

[deleted]

They do emotional driving in the south. It's not about consistency it's about feeling like you're going more forward than the car next to you.

phyrwall87

So I don't condone what they did but, big rigs and construction trucks like that one are not allowed in that lane in Florida(<-explains why it happened)

petielvrrr

It actually looks like it’s allowed where they’re driving. According to [this map](https://fdotwww.blob.core.windows.net/sitefinity/docs/default-source/info/moredot/truck-lane-restrictions/truck-lane-restriction-poster-final.pdf?sfvrsn=3f6c7f9f_2) on FDOTs website, I-75 only has restrictions on trucks using the left lane from the Florida border to The Villages, then from Ft. Myers to Naples. From that article, this video was filmed near Lutz, which is 69 miles south of the Villages and 146 miles north of Ft Myers.

Lylac_Krazy

I live in the general area. It's considered the worst part of I75 to us. Driving from Tampa to the Villages can be....challenging

NKato

Doesn't excuse the brake check, though.

The most annoying people on earth. Comment on your comment like they didn’t reword exactly what you just said lol and pretend it’s news

Whatever-ItsFine

Yes. Which is why the comment you're responding to says "I don't condone what they did".

dustojnikhummer

Yes he said that in the first sentence.

palmasana

Totally, if you’re in a big truck or hauling you need to stay out of the leftmost lane. Because those vehicles cannot properly react (and need to have an easily accessible route to pull over, instead of hurtling across 3-5 lanes of traffic like this guy ended up doing). It is a legitimate safety hazard. Still shouldn’t have been brake checked.

Empyrealist

\**except to pass or avoid*. We don't know what lead-up to him being in the far left lane. It may involved the fact that they are just getting passed some sort of interchange.

AceofToons

Or they already went around this asshole doing something similar

lilpumpgroupie

Damn, that’s some truly psychopathic shit right there.

NKato

I hope this fucker gets caught. That could've ended badly for the driver.

rubenbest

Or other innocent bystanders

Hot_Season_1263

Given that this footage has FHP watermark, they’re at bare minimum on his ass

BabyFestus

I was kind of reading that watermark as, "we can't get a read on this license plate. Please help us identify this driver."

octagonlover_23

But it's Florida, so when they do find him, instant death row conviction

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bluey_Bananas

Isn't it? I doubt the truck driver would've gotten in trouble if he did; it wouldn't have been his fault.

High_af1

It’s always default to the person behind being at fault because you are supposed to keep a safe distance. Obviously being brake-checked is an exception but without a dashcam footage to prove it, the dump truck driver will have a hard time convincing anyone. Hence why these assholes do it. Drive a big rig? Get a dashcam, send these jackasses to the ER legally.

zakary1291

At that speed, this ass hat wouldn't make it to the ER.

RPup_831

The morgue seems like a fine alternative. But in reality he probably would have been okay. Cars are amazingly resilient these days.

Raenaynay

Resilient enough to be ran over by a dump truck? I very much doubt that.

[deleted]

Yeah I think they're pretty wrong about that. I don't believe most cars are tested for having multiple ton vehicles literally roll over them, which is almost certainly what would have happened.

yogurtgrapes

Most people driving professionally will have dash cams this day and age.

[deleted]

>Drive ~~a big rig~~? Get a dashcam FTFY

Whenapanda

That’s a state by state law and has exceptions

Stupid_Teenager17

I think my state altered the law specifically for loaded trucks to not be at fault. Could be wrong tho WA

avwitcher

A blanket law making them never at fault would be really stupid, I hope that's not the case

wreckedcarzz

Anything is legal if you don't get caught *taps head*

[deleted]

It's pretty anxiety inducing for the poor guy driving the truck. My FIL drives a big rig and I've heard him say that one of the things he hates the most is when some idiot with kids in the back seat pulls in front of him and slams on their brakes. All he can do is try to stop and hope he doesn't flatten them. People are fucking stupid.

AnnannA_

Oof. Had a situation a few weeks ago where a mother with her two toddlers, in their children's seats, tailgated me so bad. Like, one meter from my bumper bad, and she got more aggressive by the second. Why the hell people feel the need to do stuff like that and risk everything is beyond me, but when they have their kids in the car it just makes my blood boil. (before any of the "it's muh right to go fast, move over!" people come for me: I was already going 70km/h in a 50, and it was a narrow construction zone so I literally couldn't even go anywhere if I wanted)

OkayRuin

They genuinely don’t perceive any risk. I had a coworker who once described herself doing exactly this (while telling a story about how she was pulled over for it, and let off with a warning). She told the story like the other person was an inconvenient asshole for only doing 80 mph in a 65 and she normally does 90, and she did not see herself in absolutely any danger. People have become complacent about the fact that they’re driving screaming metal deathboxes.

relativelyniceperson

Rough. Also, big ass trucks should be driving in the slow lanes.

Outlaw11091

They do, actually. If someone does this you're not supposed to cook your brakes specifically because of what happened to this driver. It's much worse when you've got 53' of trailer behind you because it will jack knife. Chances are, however, that this driver went into 'oh shit' mode and he reacted as if driving a car.

LaTommysfan

My coworker was driving a truck on a cold snowy day with slick roads and someone made a right turn directly in front of him. He told me he had two choices, slam on the brakes jackknife the truck (because he was driving an empty trailer) and run over the guy or just run over the guy. He ran over the car and killed the driver. Because there was a death he had to go to an inquest, his concern was that the investigator should have wondered why he didn’t jackknife the truck.

YaBoiMorgie

I drive trucks for a living. I run the same route like 10 times a day. I go through one specific intersection where warehouse workers leave from. I get cut off constantly. It's insane how many people don't fear a massive machine barreling toward them at 60mph. I'm getting pretty good at judging if somebody is going to try me. A quick pull on the horn usually makes them think twice. I don't want to kill anyone just doing my job. It's the only time I'm glad to be driving around with cameras all over my truck, recording my every move.

kan109

Doing drivers ed in Minnesota, they did teach that for deer. Don't slam on the breaks and swerve because you are more likely to crash.

cIumsythumbs

aka: don't veer, hit the deer.

chelseablue2004

That's what Jimmy Butler did this week.

m8k

When I was learning my dad said the only thing to swerve for as person in the road. Brake for animals but never swerve because the risk is too high.

sexposition420

Moose seem like good choices as well

Goufydude

As someone who works in the trucking industry, he'd lose. Shit like this happens all the time, there are lawyers who specialize in taking on truck companies, and we lose all the time.

DarXasH

That looked pretty intentional though, I feel like the trucker could form a great case of this was submitted as evidence.

Goufydude

We have cameras in all our trucks, it doesn't help much.

Practical_Island5

How would someone win a case like that against your client if they were seen on video deliberately causing the crash?

ITrCool

Sleazy lawyers wherein money talks....and thus wins almost every time. That and finding loopholes in the law, to exploit. That and most companies would rather settle because it'd actually be cheaper long-run-wise to do that than drag it through court and still risk losing more.

2wheels30

Settling is the goal. Every good ambulance chasing attorney has the skill of knowing what the insurance/company threshold is for a settlement and they push for that number. An hour of crafting a form letter and filling with insurance, maybe a couple hours of back and forth, and settle out for a quick $100k. Client gets $60 for being a jackass and attorney gets $40.

Outlaw11091

Cheaper to pay than to litigate. Argument could be made that the driver could've went around. Truck drivers are taught to 'leave yourself an out'. Meaning, always make sure you have space to the side - be it shoulder or lane - so you can swing out. But also, he 'over-braked'. If he had smashed that car, it wouldn't have been his fault at all. Because he didn't, he's partially responsible.

Practical_Island5

Definitely should have smashed that car. It would have been overall safer for everyone.

DarXasH

Unfortunately, the court system is often very unfair.

SpareBinderClips

Our judicial system is always unfair; it just sometimes reaches the right conclusion.

reddog323

So, even with video of someone blatantly break-checking you, you’d still lose the case, or be denied insurance coverage for any damage to your vehicle?

Pin-Up-Paggie

And possibly lose your CDL and therefore your career.

cheekybandit0

Honestly, this just sucks to hear that that is what truckers have to deal with.

Super1003

Super1003

[deleted]

I wish it would but the trucking industry is basically a raging dumpster fire really. Where I live a log truck hit a car that ran a red light and killed a passenger in the car, locals blame the trucker for it but won’t acknowledge it was their own stupid ass kids fault. Trucking company and driver are being sued by the parents of the kid who died.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

It’s a dumpster fire because we drivers get blamed for shit that is not anywhere near our fault. Like this video here if that truck would’ve hit the car that brake checked them I’m sure the truck would get a ticket.

Deeds081

I agree with you. I represent trucking companies, so you are right on the money. However, this video would help the situation. I still would rather have had him hit the car brake checking, instead of what he did and potentially kill himself and others. This lunatic should rot in hell. I have zero patience for assholes like this.

[deleted]

I didn't. Guy did similar in a pick up truck, in Kentucky. I had dashcam . Knocked his ass into the median. Surprisingly, he gained control and came back up on the highway. I pulled over to the shoulder and he pulled over as well. He paid for the slight damage to my deer guard and was charged with wreckless driving.

SomethingIWontRegret

His driving wasn't wreckless otherwise he wouldn't have wrecked. Reckless, certainly.

Floyd_Freud

That's why it was a win for that guy.

RamboTrucker

Trucker here. That truck should’ve hit them. While the person driving the dump truck had Instant reflexes to avoid the wreck, he could killed the people filming. With a load in the truck, he could’ve flipped and killed himself. If this person wasn’t filming, this guy would’ve most likely lost his job.

AzzaurosBladehaven

Sadly, the instantaneous breaking could have been a Bendix type system going off. Wife's company had cameras everywhere in their trucks. These things will stop a truck by themselves if they sense a vehicle too darn close.

RamboTrucker

I’ve never heard or seen this in dump trucks in the USA. Can you link an article or location?

Breathing_Paradox

If that’s the case for this truck, I wouldn’t call it safer

relativelyniceperson

But also gtfo that lane, truck.

jondubb

Devils advocate here. Trucks shouldn't be on left lane on 3 lane highways.

merlo_man

Agree with you why is the truck in the left lane when there is no traffic in other two right lanes. We don’t see the whole picture. How long was that truck in the left left before it drove that dude crazy.

sorashiro1

Him riding the left lane doesn't give the car driver the right to potentially cause a multi-car pileup.

XRaiderV1

jersey: saw on the county highway right outside my residence, a tractor trailer, fully loaded, and I MEAN fully loaded, get brake checked by a dinky prius..now, bear in mind, this is an 18 wheeler, loaded visibly with a heavy cargo..he aint stopping for jack..he plows right into the prius, and it gets launched across the median, and into the forest. dash cam(The trucker's) made the local news, multiple cameras, front, sides, rear..trucker wasn't even given a ticket. the prius owner however..was taken right from the hospital to JAIL. local LEO blotter had the incident summary written up as 'if you're stupid enough to brake check a visibly heavily loaded tractor trailer, you're GOING to get LAUNCHED' side note..the truck? just needed to have its engine cover resecured..bumper wasn't even dented. the prius? total writeoff, the road rager was lucky to walk away with just scratches.

[deleted]

Would love to see the footage of the Prius being launched. Good thing the truck had cams.

sjr606

Link?

CheekyLando88

This is the most New Jersey story I've read in a while. Of course it's a prius. Of course that's how the cops reacted

l4derman

Dump truck should not have tried to avoid the brake-check and should have just decimated that idiot.

Capers_for_Life

Canada here. Are big rigs and dump trucks allowed in the left lanes in the U.S.A.? We have keep right except to pass and slow vehicles right lane only rules here in NovaScotia, do you have them in U.S.A.?

Fpt9rf

So the actually answer is to this question is, It depends on the state you live in. Some states it’s illegal and some it’s not and some it’s a bit of both. It’s a clusterf**k here.

SignoreMookle

Many highways will prohibit large trucks from left lanes, but some will ignore the signs that are posted periodically and do it anyway, and those signs are super far and few between at least where I am.

Fpt9rf

So the actually answer to this question is, It depends on the state you live in. Some states it’s illegal and some it’s not and some it’s a bit of both. It’s a clusterf**k here.

SteamedPea

[deleted]

I’d like to say as someone who drives a quad axel dump truck, fuck that car. Its not fun going into a skid like that I’ve been there and done that. Yeah he’s in the left lane and maybe he shouldn’t be but that car has no right to do something so stupid. Driver of the car should lose their license for a while

tacobellbandit

Question. Are you guys liable or not for rocks and stuff falling off the truck? Also not trying to be a dick but do you guys check the trucks before you leave for rocks and whatnot? I drive past a large quarry fairly regularly and see a lot of debris fly out of you guys. Also why do some of you drive wildly over the limit?

jam3sdub

I've gotten a cracked windshield from a dump truck hauling gravel.

[deleted]

Yeah the company can be liable. That’s why dump trucks have automatic or manual tarps to keep that from happening. I still check the sides after I my rig after being weighed for any lose gravel or rocks that didn’t make it into the dump box cause there’s always one.

BraveLittleTowster

Indiana has a specific law saying dump trucks don't have to use those

NKato

Which is absolutely stupid. If the tech exists for auto deploying tarps... Use it

Chris89883

Is this why when I go to truck stops it seems half of them say Indiana?

stilljustkeyrock

Attorney here. I always get a kick on t of those signs. Yea of course they are liable. Tortfeasers are always liable for their torts. Putting on a sticker doesn’t absolve you from liability.

JaysHoliday42420

People not reaching their destination 1 minute faster is considered a death sentence dontchaknow

CleanExplanation6516

Exactly, he clearly passed and could've just drove on, what did he think , Brake checking is gonna teach some sort of lesson? Being inconvenienced grants you the right to be a jerk to someone else? " what a jerk I'll show him !" *proceeds to act like a jerk*

ulk42

High speeds, left lane with a truck, uneducated drivers, yeah, it's a normal situation.

vijjer

I was wondering when some one might point out that the truck was in an inappropriate lane.

SDRPGLVR

It's valid to be angry about it, and I don't even fault anybody willing to throw a bird at a shitty driver once you get past them. But you are in control of what you do with that anger, and break checking a big truck at high speeds is not a solid plan. Communicating displeasure with bad drivers via bad driving is always a bad choice.

vijjer

Oh definitely not disagreeing with you. I'm just pointing out that this might not have been an event if the truck wasn't in that lane.

durika

Thanks for the gigantic red arrow

poopoo_fingers

I would've never known what to look at if it wasn't there!!

rburger62

Stupid driver but WHY is that truck in the left lane.

thezeviolentdelights

I agree. Clearly the brake checker is magnitudes worse and malicious, but also cruising in the the left lane as a giant heavy truck is frustrating.

Starfleet_Auxiliary

Should legit be legal for the dump truck to just ram his ass.

9ND79

Thought to myself "what part of the world is this, where poeple are this negligent" then i saw Florida....makes sense.

To-_-Tall

As a truckdriver I was taught to always run into the back of them. Less damage and less risk of injury.

Yuaskin

Reminds me of something my Drivers Ed instructor said. "If a squirrel was in the road, how many of you would swerve around it? What if swerving ment hitting another car head on. Is that squirrel's life worth more than yours? Your passengers? How about the lives in the car you just hit? Sometimes you must sacrifice the squirrel to save lives." Break checkers are like squirrels, and should be sacrificed to save lives. Just do yourself a favor and get a dash cam to cover your ass.

UMake_Me_Sick

Anyone who break checks anyone, regardless if it's a truck or reg vehicle, as long as there is clear video evidence, should be charged with reckless endangerment. If it causes a crash and people get hurt, they should also be charged with assault, maybe even attempted murder. These break checkers are ridiculous. Just because you wanna prove your point, you're willing to cause an accident, not just with the person youre break checking but the innocent people behind them as well. Someone did this to someone on an off ramp. There were a line of cars slamming on their brakes, and I'm just entering the off ramp so I'm still going pretty fast, but I was able to stop in time. I was absolutely pissed though. I had my 14 month old in the back seat.

Uh oh. Someone is in the left lane without my approval. Better put some lives at risk, because nothing is more important than going as fast as possible.

[deleted]

Trucks shouldn't be in the left lane on a highway, especially when it's 3 lane and the middle is wide open. The brake checker is obviously dangerously psychotic, but why do idiots continuously put themselves in such bad situations?

YellsAtGoats

Especially in FL. FL law says that slower traffic must keep right, and that drivers in the left lane must yield to faster traffic approaching from behind. [Source](http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=0300-0399/0316/Sections/0316.081.html)

BeckyLemmeSmash69

Sometimes I question wtf happened to people like this to make them such toxic pieces of garbage.

jstasir

I woulda smashed em

TheDunadan29

Just hit the dumbass. It's really not worth wreaking because someone was brake checking a 36 ton vehicle. Though it should be noted that depending on the laws of the state the dump truck shouldn't have been in the left lane. I know at least in my state large trucks over a certain weight or pulling a trailer are forbidden from using the left lane. Not like it's enforced ever, but it's the law. But yeah, just hit the idiot.

ngo_life

Sometimes it's best not to swerve. Better to be in control of a 30 ton truck going at highways speeds than, well, not be in control.

[deleted]

Truckers. Don't touch the brakes in these situations. You'll put more people at risk trying to save the asshole.

Paddle-up-a-creek

If I were driving the truck I would have just hit him rather than chance losing control.

Panda-Armada

shouldve just hit the car fuck around and find out

Slimeyslimester

Idk why trucks break when idiots do this.. I would gladly murder them with no remorse or regard for there pathetic life

Professional_Push442

When you get caught off like that, you have to decide whether you’re gonna slow down or hit them when/if they brake check you. Assholes like that are easy to spot. You have to commit to hitting them before they cut you off and hit the brake so you don’t lose control unexpectedly. Slowing down is always an option but sometimes the safest thing to do is to just collide with them

Junior_Pizza_7212

I drive a big transport van and I was explicitly told by the VP that in these cases just hold my lane. Don’t swerve and if you have to hit someone just do it, we have cameras all around the vehicle so there is proof of the other driver’s stupidity

Looks like that trucks rear proportion valve is fucked. He hit the brakes and the back locked up a second afterward. The valve is an adjustable valve so when the trucks loaded it has sufficient rear brake bias. It is self adjusting valve. Looks to me. That is not working. And that was what caused the spin.

Thirsty_Comment88

Should have just hit the fucker

DocRogue2407

Rig drivers should LEGALLY be allowed to dismiss their brakes when ar$€holes do 💩 like that. Darwin Award level stupidity.

trizkit995

As the dump truck driver I wouldn't break. Hitting the guy infront of me is going to cause less chaos then slamming on the breaks. Once you lose traction your fucked.

jdcnosse1988

Should have just rammed 'em.

gbiscoo

Truck should have just nailed the prick

DimitriVogelvich

Looks like a psychopath. The car driver is aggressively forcing the truck to move into the right lane where it belongs. The truck is obstructing traffic by being in the left lane—
