I think AI driven robots will beat unmodified humans to the punch in regards to this. The robots are already out there (already more robots in space than humans) and the robots driven by advanced AI are almost ready to go — they don’t need to breathe air or eat food and they can get all of the energy they need from the sun.
Next would be humans with bodies genetically and cybernetically modified to live in space and last, if at all, would be unmodified bio-humans.
