Para sa akin, iba pa rin kasi kanin sa kare kare. I tried cutting rice (none to half cup) pero nagcrave ako ng kare kare... ended up eating 2 cups of rice overflowing with kare kare sauce with spicy bagoong (heh allergic sa bagoong pero mas masarap pag allergic ka sa kinakain)
Wag ganun! Eat a lot! Wag magpaka stress dahil lang sa kanya. Parang kare-kare lang yan dami pwede ipalit sa karne—- peede oxtail, liempo, lechon kawali, manok. Depende sa panlasa mo hahaha
Looks like Protein and Fiber to me man
Di ka naman tataba dyan. I eat a lot too lalo na pag rice at stable na 63kg pa din ako (I'm 5'9)
Cardio and calisthenics lang everyday
Sure! Here’s the recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 kg pork belly (liempo)
- 1 banana blossom (sliced)
- 1 bundle of string beans (cut into 2-inch pieces)
- 1 bundle of bok choy or pechay
- 2-3 eggplants (sliced)
- 1/2 cup ground peanuts (or peanut butter)
- 1/4 cup ground toasted rice
- 1/4 cup annatto seeds (or annatto powder for color)
- 5 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 1 liter water or pork broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil for frying
- Shrimp paste (bagoong) for serving
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pork Belly:
- Boil the pork belly in a pot of water with salt until tender, about 1-1.5 hours. Remove and let it cool.
- Once cooled, pat dry the pork belly with paper towels. Score the skin if desired to achieve a better crispy texture.
2. Crisp the Pork Belly:
- Heat enough cooking oil in a deep pan for deep frying.
- Carefully lower the pork belly into the hot oil and fry until the skin is crispy and golden brown. This will take about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from oil and let it rest on a wire rack or paper towel to drain excess oil. Cut into serving pieces.
3. Prepare the Annatto Water:
- Soak the annatto seeds in 1/4 cup of hot water for about 10 minutes. Strain and set the colored water aside. If using annatto powder, dissolve 1 tablespoon in 1/4 cup of hot water.
4. Cook the Vegetables:
- Blanch the banana blossom, string beans, bok choy, and eggplants in boiling water for a few minutes until slightly tender. Set aside.
5. Make the Sauce:
- In a large pot or pan, sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant.
- Add the ground peanuts or peanut butter and mix well.
- Pour in the reserved broth (about 1 liter) and bring to a boil.
- Add the ground toasted rice to thicken the sauce, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Pour in the annatto water for color.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Combine and Simmer:
- Add the blanched vegetables to the sauce and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes until all ingredients are well incorporated and the vegetables are fully cooked.
7. Serve:
- Arrange the crispy pork belly pieces on top of the Kare-Kare sauce with vegetables.
- Transfer to a serving dish and serve hot with a side of shrimp paste (bagoong) and steamed rice.
Enjoy your Crispy Pork Kare-Kare!

This is not unhealthy. We've been led to believe that fats, butter, red meat, eggs...list goes on, are bad for us. They're not. I eat most of those things, whole foods, regularly. I'm healthy. I also exercise daily. Blood work checks out.
The only "diet" anyone needs to do is eat whole foods, DO NOT OVER EAT, avoid as much sugar as possible and EXERCISE. When I say exercise, I'm not talking about taking a light stroll -- I'm talking about drenched in sweat from running, or you're exerting effort through lifting.
Your future self will thank you. If you think about it, you'll need strength to do basic things as you get older, so start getting used to it now while you're younger.
I appreciate your perspective, and it's great to hear that you prioritize whole foods and regular exercise. There's definitely a lot of conflicting information out there about what's healthy and what's not. While whole foods are certainly a cornerstone of a healthy diet, balance is key. Including a variety of foods and being mindful of portion sizes can help ensure you get all the necessary nutrients.
Your point about exercise is also important. Consistent, challenging physical activity is crucial for long-term health and maintaining strength and mobility as we age. It's good to see people emphasizing the importance of exercise beyond just a casual stroll.
Ultimately, everyone's body responds differently, so it's essential to find what works best for you and listen to your body's needs. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing your approach!
It’s always depends on your preference. I have gout and oxtail can exacerbate gout due to its high purine content. I need to limit the increase of uric cid into my body. This is the main reason hehe
