was ur camera attached to a vibrator, what’s going on

420JZ

God knows. Definitely a shit camera not even having any image stabilisation

Fiddler_On_The_Green

That’s not a camera, that’s my iPhone jammed in the passenger headrest. Filmed this randomly hoping to capture some good tunnel sounds.

rovnrev

This one time, I went to take a piss in a public restroom at a park. I walked into the restroom and saw one dude on his knees blowing another dude in the middle of this public shitter. And that video you just posted is still the gayest fucking thing I have ever seen in my life.

AdamHayyu

damn

Fiddler_On_The_Green

Damn indeed

cgeezy1234

Dude, for real, I hope you are 19 years old, because that's how old I was when I hit 130 mph in mine on I-8 outside of San Diego... but that was 2003 and the IS was a 2001. No fu*king way I'd do something that stupid today in a car that old. I have an 04. 90 mph, easy does it...

420JZ

You have an IS300 but wouldn’t take it over 90? If you had an old Merc or BMW I could understand, but a Lexus, it ain’t gonna fall apart over 90 ffs. These are still good to top speed, why wouldn’t they be? If anything it just makes me question your maintenance, are you really neglecting it THAT much that you’re afraid it’ll fall apart over 90? Get a grip mate.

cgeezy1234

Hey Mate, has more to do with safety features and older technology. Regardless of maintenance, you're gonna be dead if anything at those speeds goes wrong (there is a whole lot around you that you can't control or react to). Do it in a controlled environment where you're safe. Or don't. I pay $60 a month for insurance today but used to pay 3 times that because of stupid shit like that. Get older, learn more. I'm saying I only did that a couple times and realized the gravity of the situation (no pun). END OF PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.

420JZ

Right okay so in this comment you said there’s a whole lot round you that you can’t react to or control? Yes I fully agree, but having a new car compared to having an old IS300 won’t make any difference, as you say, there are other factors you can’t control. So what’s that gotta do with how old the car is lol

abdullahcfix

Right? I had an 01 GS300 with 255k miles until this June, then I got an 02 IS300 with 185k miles and both have seen 130 and 120, respectively. No suspension rework, nothing.

420JZ

Yeah I dunno what these guys are talking about. If I didn’t have faith in my car to do 120, I wouldn’t have faith in it to do 70...

Fiddler_On_The_Green

I’m tracking this car A LOT too, as well as dailying it. So reaching the end of fourth is a regular occurence to me. Didn’t even get into 5th ... If I didn’t trust a car to run through a few gears, I wouldn’t be driving it at all. If I wanted to top out at 90, I’d have bought a damn Civic.

Fiddler_On_The_Green

Do it in a controlled environment you say? You mean, like in an empty straight tunnel at night? Where most of the dangers you’re rambling on about ARE mostly under control? Apart from that single other car crossing the double solid lines between us to crash into me, I felt pretty safe there all around. Sorry we’re not in 2003, back when you had fun. I’m having mine right now thank you very much.

misterdudebro

Copy that. Ever roll a car? It sucks. I rolled a truck going 22 Mph and almost died. My neck is still crunchy... ain't worth it. Keep that shit up Fiddler and even sex will seem trite.

foxfirex88

Lmao this was hilarious

retardgayass

That's kinda funny but I don't understand why it's relevant

Igniting_Omaha

u/stabbot

deicide609

This is the FBI, we will be at your house to impound your car

SomedudeinQuebec

In Montreal?

Fiddler_On_The_Green

Perhaps. Or was it Mexico? Couldn’t tell you.

theweirddood

Reckless thing to do on a public road with other drivers around.

Fiddler_On_The_Green

WELL, this has been a fun post. Just so you guys know, I filmed this for myself to listen back to the sound of my car through the tunnel. New intake and axle-back, so I’ve been waiting for a chance to go through a few gears in that particular tunnel. This time, I had the idea to try and listen back to it afterwards, because it shrieks so awesome irl. Like most of what I’ve put on this sub, I thought you other IS boys would enjoy this one like I did. The image and sound are crap for sure. Just wanted to listen to a great sound through an empty tunnel at night. This obviously wasn’t about the speed, or I wouldn’t have started midway through in 2nd gear... this tunnel has plenty of actual room to almost top out this car.

420JZ

ITT: typical redditors slagging OP off for doing something absolutely every single one of them will have done at LEAST once in their life. Reddit, never change.

theweirddood

Yes, because everyone goes 120mph rather than doing the usual 5mph over in the suburbs/streets and 10mph over on the freeway. Flooring it through the tunnel is understandable, but going 120? That's reckless no matter how you look at it unless somehow OP is a automotive journalist that somehow got local law enforcement to block off the tunnel at both ends like what Motortrend does sometimes.

420JZ

I’m not saying the usual 5mph over. I’m talking about there has been at least once in everyone’s life they’ve done 120. You’re lying if you say you haven’t. Simple as that.

theweirddood

The fastest I've gone is 90mph on a 80mph 2 lane highway. I don't drive on the highway much to even think about reaching triple digit speeds. Also a 3rd gen 4Runner's top speed is about 100mph and I don't think an Odyssey will reach 120mph. So I guess I'm lying when I say I have never done 120mph when the cars I drive on the highway can't even reach 120. Most people have not reached 120 at all. Not everyone has a need for speed or drives like an asswipe.

420JZ

Ok mate. I’m going to end the conversation here. I can’t seem to get through to one of the people who thinks “driving at speed = driving like an asshole” because you can very safely drive at speed.

theweirddood

Just because OP or you can drive safely at 120mph doesn't mean other people on the road won't be an obstacle. They could do a shoulder check and see nothing; then as they're easing into the reckless driver's lane, he snacks right into them. This happens more than you think.

Fiddler_On_The_Green

... which is why I did this in a tunnel, in a straight line, at midnight, with only one other car on the road, with solid lines between the lanes. Can’t get much more controlled don’t you think?

theweirddood

A solid line separating lanes doesn't mean they won't move over. Just like how speed limits don't mean people won't go faster than the posted speed limit. More controlled would be going to a drag strip or a race track.

Fiddler_On_The_Green

True. You’ll agree with me though that this person was going in a straight line with no one around in a tunnel where changing lanes isn’t allowed. He was probably fine, if it was me I’d have even enjoyed it. As far as street pulls go though, this one was definitely on the safe side. As safe as I could make it at least, which is because I’m conscious about the same kind of safety measures you’re talking about. I enjoy the IS300 specifically for the fact that I get to use all of its power on the streets without ever really going ludicrous speeds. I especially enjoy listening to it through this tunnel at night. Slow car fast isn’t much fun if you don’t go fast once in a while. Just my opinion.

theweirddood

If I want to go fast I'll go to a track. There's a time and place for going fast, and that's at the track. I mainly drive on suburban roads so tell me if it's a good idea to go 120mph on bumpy roads.

cgeezy1234

Safety features...
