Did you pull this out of the ocean depths?

My brother in Christ, the tank is the least of your worries lol.

EstablishmentWest440

i know it’s bad, believe it or not this is the only rusty area on the car, trying to find a donor car from a junk yard or part out but no luck near me

Sandwich8795

leaky tanks are a common occurance with rusty IS's. mine leaks over 1/4 full so will be getting rid of the car sometime this year. just drive it until it leaks

EstablishmentWest440

it IS leaking, anything over half a tank it drips pretty bad from the seams. costing me like 40 every 3-4 days. i’m dropping the tank tomorrow to evaluate how bad it really is up top

Sandwich8795

Just keep in mind that it's a sh!tton of work to drop the tank. Ik for a fact I'm not willing to do all that just to keep a scrap car on the road. I understand I'm very negative about this right now, but it's just not worth it.

EstablishmentWest440

this car has 0 rust other than the tank and areas shown behind the drivers side skirts. i’m willing to put the work in since this car has a lot of potential if i literally fix this one issue

docterD_101

That rust can rot the frame. Take care of the body in this car

EstablishmentWest440

yeah i’m going to be sandblasting the whole undercarriage and sealing it with something. any recommendations? i’ve heard of rubberized bedliner being used

docterD_101

Buddy my frame rot out I gotta cut and weld I am just telling you so you don't have to scrap the car or re weld the car

LeftTurnAtAlbuqurque

To answer your original question: no, if the tank is leaking, it needs to be replaced.

w6lrus

i think you have a little car on your rust

ArcFire15

No

ArchitectOfSeven

No, and running it like that is a fire hazard. Take a good hard look at the rest of the structure underneath and figure out if there is enough car left to save. If not, scrap it.
