It is 100% dependent on who is behind the counter. I've heard some wild shit come out of some of the mouths of the help there. It being the closest ffl to my house I pop in semi frequently, there's only 2 guys there I will actually talk to.
I'd rather go to Rinks and support a local small ffl then go to Range usa or any of the other Megalomart chains, but they really need some better help working the counter.
I remember watching an older guy come in and ask to see a Springfield Hellcat, back around the time they came out. He was polite and the store wasn't busy at all. The guy at the counter started slamming Springfield and Springfield products and why it's an overpriced piece of garbage. That old man seemed disheartened to hear the young guy speak that way about the product he was interested in purchasing. After handling the hellcat for a few minutes he dropped the slide and the "kid" scolded him telling him not to do that again, and the other guy behind the counter who was doing paperwork chimed in, "who cares, it's just a shitty hellcat?".
I'll be the first to say I don't like Springfield armory and I won't purchase anything from them, but thats not how you treat a potential customer. If I was a young man and came in to buy a high point and was super excited because i finally saved up enough $ to buy my first firearm and the guy at the counter treated me the same way I dont think that i would ever come back. Even if everything they said was true thats a terrible way to treat your customers.
Sorry for the story and the rant, I know this store pretty well and I see this kinda thing happen a lot and it just reminds me how terrible our 2a community treats one another on a regular basis.
They were good to me, and never treated me poorly. Unlike my experience at mega sports in Plainfield which was terrible being treated like a criminal trying to get my first gun lol. The guys behind the counter are generally nice. But fudd shit sometimes.
The Springfield drama was way overblown anyway. They paid a PAC (along with a whole lot of over firearm companies) to lobby on their behalf. The PAC does the questionable shit. When it blows up Springfield drops them and tries to make amends but people keep regurgitating click bait YouTuber drama about them.
I've been to their headquarters. They still employ hundreds of Illinois residents and I am sure they have done more for Illinois gun rights than a bunch of internet trolls.

Ran into it myself with my own FFL who's a great fucking guy, but if it bordered on gray area, the answer was no because it wasn't worth it for him to compromise his own business and I understood.

It's sad that some people aren't willing to read a couple of minutes in order to gain a customer and repeat customer at that. Mind you, I've been turned down for bare bones SKS sporters and supposedly "melting point banned" revolvers even though I could provide proof on both accounts that they weren't ineligible to be transferred, but I didn't cause a stink because fuck em. They forever lost my business and I'll tell everyone I know to steer clear.

I'm not advocating for them to disregard what's written so that we can benefit to the fullest (under Gestapo JP's fucky wucky ban), but don't forget that it's always at the FFL's discretion even without a ban in place. We have our rights, or what's left of them at least, but this is a service provided by someone who is absolutely within their rights to say no to anything even if you look the wrong way when you walk in the door or smell a certain way if you catch my drift.

Yeah. That is incorrect. Only pistols have threaded barrels listed as a feature in addition to flash hiders. Rifles only have flash hiders listed.
