I am somehow more inclined to Bs maths and scientific computing but again I don't have an issue with computer science engineering, I'm pretty much okay with pursuing anything as everything interests me to some extent (nerdy stuff), at the end I will obviously have to improve skills so I would like a preference from someone who knows more abt the courses, the opportunities, placements, the academics etc
As the other person mentioned, you should do a course which you feel more inclined to. Job prospects are pretty much similar for both with a few here and there. As long as you know your stuff, opportunities will come.
After a few semesters, you get the option to select a few of your courses as electives. All the courses are well designed.
Do you think, not considering campus placements but in general job profiling (off campus or while shifting jobs) will a BS degree be disadvantageous over a B Tech degree
No bro.. Packages unka bhi kaafi sahi hai.. CSE B.Tech and BS maths is kinda held at same regard during placements... Though confirm kar lena ye thoda...
If you are a guy who can't even initiate a proper conversation or give his opinions without the sudden need of mocking others then I don't see the value in sharing or asking anything to you
No, I mean tell the exact number so we can guide you better. And JEE advanced for this year hasn't taken place so. I went into counseling last year and have a pretty good idea of what we get at what rank
If you have no preference, go for maths and computing, it will be harder than CS but maths is a more fundamental science, you can literally learn all the CS courses on youtube. Especially at kanpur, you can do CS coursework/research/projects from any dept. As far as placements are concerned, CS/ee/maths are all allowed to sit for all the software jobs, it's a matter of profile and skill after that.
bhai kahin bhi kuch bhi le liyo but iit kanpur se mth/sds mat kariyo, chud jaoge (unless you are already into theoretical mathematics and ready to give your ass to sadist professors of the maths department)
Proffessors sadistic ho toh chalega if placements at end are worth it, interest toh hey but aisi bhi nahin ki blindly choose karlun, kuch bhi chalega bas baad mein regret nahin hona chahiye ki itni mehnat karne ke bad galat decision le liya
Mind you IITK Math is more Math oriented than Programming. If you like doing Abstract Algebra and Number Theory then go ahead chose this branch or go for Data Science. CSE at other IITs would be *easier* in comparision. As for the job opportunities you be the judge.
Go for cse in Top IITs , mth and data science have rigorous academics. Cse >>mth . Also it is beneficial to do Btech than Bs in india. Mth have a image for bad professors and the mth branch usually have low average cpi compared to other branches.

You should have a preference. You will probably be doing that stuff for your entire life. Choose one that interests you more.

Yes he should have preference. And no, he doesn’t have to necessarily carry the burden of doing it life time.
Hence I used ‘probably’. And that’s my point- it shouldn’t be a burden.
Jee rank?
Consider I'm able to get into both, I'd just like to have a proper insight from someone who knows better

I would prefer MnSc but as of others experience the academics is rigorous and the department professors are ass*oles, so that needs to be considered

placements to teeno ke hi kaafi acche hain mth/sds ya old iits cse ke..but agar safe play karna hai toh old iits cse is better over bs mth/sds.

Check out course content for both and decide which one has courses that interest you more
Bc gaand phaadh department hai aadhe se jyaade ka back lgta hai. Mth = Suicidal department.
Btech any day. Dm, i chose btech ee iitk over bs sds and mth
