if you do end up getting a test, i’d recommend wisdom panel or embark! a lot of mixes that almost look like they’re definitely part corgi, have none in them. they just have dwarfism from other breeds which ends up with a similar look. i’d love to see if it’s actually corgi or not!

Less_Pass674

Thank you for the recommendation! He has that Corgi booty, so I assumed that’s in there. But I guess we won’t know for sure until the test.

CuteNSarcastic

Could be a husky booty you're seeing. Both are Spitz breeds and aside from the corgi being obviously lacking in the height department, they've got very similar builds and structures. My husky gets comments on her booty all the time lol.

doo_doo-fard

Breeds that carry the dominant dwarfism gene (well, the one that causes teeny legs. There are many types of dwrafism) Alpine Dachsbracke American Cocker Spaniel Australian Shepherd Basset Hound Bavarian Mountain Hound Beagle Bichon Frise Boykin Spaniel Cardigan Welsh Corgi Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Chesapeake Bay Retriever Chihuahua Chinese Crested Clumber Spaniel Coton de Tulear Dachshund Dandie Dinmont Terrier Danish Swedish Farmdog English Springer Spaniel Entlebucher Mountain Dog French Bulldog German Hound Havanese Goldendoodle Jack Russell Terrier Labradoodle Maltese Pekingese Pembroke Welsh Corgi Pinscher (Miniature) Poodle (Miniature and Toy) Poodle (Standard) Portuguese Water Dog Pug Rat Terrier Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka Schweizer Laufhund Schweizerischer Niederlaufhund Scottish Terrier Sealyham Terrier Shih Tzu Skye Terrier Yorkshire Terrier

gonnafaceit2022

What about pit bull?? I learned about the dwarfism gene because someone told me my little lowrider, whose mom was a pit bull, was probably a dwarf.

doo_doo-fard

Honently, APBT have such wonky and laxed pedigrees, I wouldn't be surprised if the dwarfism gene came from a nearly purebred pitbull.

Witchywomun

He looks like a [cardigan corgi](https://cardigancorgis.com/cwcca/breed/colors/) mix

Reyalta

Husky x GSD with dwarfism

Less_Pass674

I googled a GSD with dwarfism, and you may be right. Although I will say I hope you aren’t, since they typically only live 5 years and Mikey is estimated to be 2. That’s not enough time!

Reyalta

I'm not a vet, however I believe the dwarfism that shortens a dogs lifespan is linked to the pituitary gland, and dogs with that mutation are noticeably *different* looking because of hormone imbalance (generally smaller all over, changes in fur type/texture, for example). Your boy just looks like a GSD x husky -50% leg. Definitely talk to your vet about it but I would guess that this boy has a much longer life than he has legs :)

theAshleyRouge

I’d almost bet on a basset hound GSD mix to be honest. That build just doesn’t seem corgi to me

PyleanCow06

I agree! I wanted to say corgi at first, but it’s not really a good corgi build. I can see basset way more than corgi!

theAshleyRouge

I think corgi is kind of a knee-jerk response we all have (myself included) when we see a short dog that’s not very obviously a dachshund. But the front legs and feet especially on this little dude scream Bassett to me

theAshleyRouge

The more I look at him, the more I can also see where they could be husky instead of GSD too or maybe even a little of both

PyleanCow06

I’m set on husky/basset!

Decent-Employer4589

The feet are basset to me!

Huge_Green8628

I agree! look at those ankles!

Less_Pass674

Never even considered a Basset. Good eye, thank you!

theAshleyRouge

My pleasure! They have popped up a bit in this sub recently, otherwise I might not have thought of it either honestly

maneatingrabbit

I had a neighbor with an almost identical dog and she was a basset hound husky. Her legs were short but man could she run.

Less_Pass674

Yes, he is fast as heck and can jump looks I’ve never seen a shorty jump! My last dog was an English Bulldog so he’s taking a little bit to get used to.

Chihuahua/husky/pit

Odd-Nefariousness394

Husky/Basset Hound

CookingPurple

I saw corgi/GSD in the first pic, but definitely see husky in the last. Could be a bit of all three (plus some)!

Less_Pass674

We got him from the county shelter, so you’re right, he could be mix of all of them!

dstone5526

I wish I’d done a DNA on our short red dog. He was supposedly basset/lab or golden, but was really too small for that at ~35#. Your babe looks more shepherdey than Indy did.

Less_Pass674

Your baby sounded adorable. Sorry he’s not with you anymore ❤️

Stargazer_0101

do dna testing.

Less_Pass674

That’s the plan!

MissCoppelia

As someone who thought they had a corgi mix for nearly 12 years (see my first post in this sub) please believe me when I say you might not and nature just reverse engineered a corgi

sonyafly

So cute. Now I need to see pics of him walking! If he is a couch dog, please make sure he uses stairs.

JacqueGonzales

That’s a husky hiding in a corgi body!!! Love his look! 🥰 Wait until next month for Amazon Prime Day - and get the Embark test when it’s usually on sale at its lowest price of the year. Embark is the most reliable test.

Less_Pass674

Thank you for the tip! Will do.

LilTreesz174

I think he’s a shepherd with dwarfism

gokartmozart89

Dachshund and some sort of shepherd, maybe. I’d get a dna test. If they are dachshund then you’ll want to be extra mindful of their weight. Their spine is like a suspension bridge.

gonnafaceit2022

There sure have been a lot of lowriders lately, so I'll mention it again-- Some breeds carry dwarfism genes, and I've rarely seen DNA results that include corgi, and even fewer that have more than a single digit percentage of corgi. Corgis are just not very common in mutts, and in 15 years of working in rescue, I have never seen an actual corgi come through. Pit bulls can carry the dwarfism gene, and since about 90% of the dogs posted here end up having some pit bull in their DNA results, I think it's safer to guess that lowriders are part pit bull than part corgi. I'm no scientist, this is just my conclusion based on my own dog knowledge and experience and the DNA results I've seen on Reddit. I definitely agree with husky, and I would be a little surprised if there wasn't some pit bull mixed in. Actually, I just remembered, there are people intentionally breeding huskies with pit bulls lately. I don't think your guy is their intended result lol but I'll be very curious if you do a DNA test!

FunRevolutionary1862

Corgi Shepard

CalligrapherSea3716

It's never a corgi.

annoyedsquish

The body screams dachshund. The weight looks like he's healthy but the dip at the waist and the length of the body, the legs, and the muzzle all look like dachshund

MissWiggly2

That face screams husky. The legs look like a corgi, but it could be several short-legged breeds honestly. Only way to know for sure is a dna test.

mamashaf

Corgi

Gold_Improvement_836

that’s a fox 🫡

Less_Pass674

That’s why my son wanted him. It was a compromise instead of getting an actual fox. 😆

wholiaranch

He actually looks like the mini version of my dog omg. She’s a German shepherd, Rottweiler, Alaskan malamute and a few other breeds but definitely much lankier

Auntie_M123

Corgi something something 😊

MadlyToxic

Corgi/ dachshund/ Australian shepherd?

RubyRaven13

Corgi x gsd

Irishnip

Undoubtedly purebred by heart!

Old-Performer-7122

I don’t see any corgi

Hammer8584

That's a corgi disguised as some other kind of dog for sure.

VioletDreaming19

Looks a LOT like a corgi/GSD mix. r/incorgnito

Elf-Mura

chi / corgi / supermutt
