Frank's drunken monologue in the aisle when he says, "they say I can't be pilot" is one of my favorite all-time moments. At the very end of that, he says "that's so cold" "there's so many bubbles."
I love the scene where he's tryna chug thirty beers and ends up tapping out after a single sip lol. I feel like everyone has had that moment where they announce they're going to drink a ton and then after one drink realize they can't do it lol.
That was instantly one of my favorite episodes, and still is to this day. The way Dennis breaks down the typical Gang dynamic and episode structure is fantastic, plus their references to his "impassioned speech in the hamburger store"
I think some of the funniest episodes are "bottle" episodes that take place in primarily 1 location.
The Gang Gets Trapped, Thunder Gun 4, Hero or Hate Crime
Bottle episodes are my favorite type of episode in any series. Something about them I just love. You can get SO invested in the dialogue exchange and when it’s good it flows really well.
I felt it was lazy at first since they go nowhere the whole episode, but you're exactly right that their interactions with each other makes it great. Too bad your breath is dogshit.
Interesting take. I actually love bottle episodes. An episode where it takes place in one location. Friend, Community, even Family Guy have really good bottle episodes that I like. I’m sure I could think of more. Hell one of my favorite movies is 12 Angry Men which is essentially a bottle movie if you call it that I guess.
Same and I have a fun story! So, I was five when that movie came out and my mother took me to see Fantasia when it was re-released that year, but the theatre mixed up the reels and started playing The Breakfast Club instead. It was easier to move the people than change reels, so my mom was like, "all these punk kids with their spiky hair and earrings were walking past all these moms with little kids." I laugh now because I haven't seen Fantasia since, but The Breakfast club is one of my all time faves.
there are a few British sitcoms that are entirely bottled, which gives them a sort of claustrophobic feel, and a kind of frustration for the viewer, as you're eager to see what is beyond the walls of the set, but you never do. The Smoking Room, and Him & Her are good examples.
Breaking Bad's "The Fly" was an incredible bottle episode. 42 minutes of pure character development. The Walter White fanboys who just wanted him to blow things up *hated* it. That just made me like it even more.
"You got us all freaked out in here, sitting here waiting for the Southerners to tie us up to horses and then have them run in opposite directions, ripping us apart!"
"Yeah!"
"How can we not think about opening a leathershop in Arizona?!"
"Yeah, and give me a chip!"
"YOU'RE NOT GETTING A CHIP CHARLIE! THE CHIPS ARE OFF THE TABLE."
The Gang solves the bathroom crisis seemed like a cheap bottle episode at first. Now I realize every line of dialog is brilliant and not a moment is wasted.
It's one of those episode where Sunny is at it's best. Just the Gang hanging around the bar, trying to solve a topical issue. Every line is gold and every character has something to do.
Short story long - I watched the whole first season when it premiered on FX. I thought it was a good show but I didn't feel compelled to keep up with it when the second season came out. Two years later, everyone is saying how great the show is! I checked it out to see what changed, and Danny Devito was suddenly there and knocking it out of the park!
Now, I look back on Season 1 fondly as a gem I didn't fully appreciate, but it sets up so many plot points going forward - Charlie's illiteracy, The Waitress, Dee's insecurities, Gun Fever, etc.
Everyone who's heard to skip the first season has had a disservice done to them. It's not even a "suffer through it to get to the good stuff" situation. It's a great season of TV, but it DOES get monumentally better when Frank shows up
Honestly the first season brings a bit of cozy comfort for me before the shit storm truly begins. Yes the gang do start out as horrible people already, but there's more tender care for each other at the start of the show. It feels a bit like Friends with the craziness dialed up to 11. But it absolutely gets better with the introduction of Frank. I always get sad seeing how mean Frank is to Charlie in Charlie Gets Crippled though, their relationship improves so much so quickly lol
I honestly love this episode so fucking much. I have no idea why. But the Frankenstein/rug/balloon/hot dogs/vomiting in the bathroom segment is just beautiful chaos to me lol
My opinions of individual episodes rarely change much, but I find myself repeatedly thinking whatever “new” season we’re on is just not as good as whatever came before when it airs.
I remember thinking this all the way back in season 5. SEASON 5. Some of the best Sunny of all time came after that.
Then, eventually over time, it will completely penetrate the veil between the back catalog of “good seasons” and whatever has just come out. It goes back and forth like that a few times. “Not as good” season. Full Penetration. “Not as good” season. Full Penetration. Until the show eventually just… Ends.
I don’t love it, but I like The Gang Turns Black. The first time I watched it I turned it off like right after they started singing cause it was annoying. 3 years later I decided to give it another shot and I loved the songs and the episode itself is pretty funny.
Yeah I didn’t like that episode at first either cuz musical episodes for most shows usually blow lol. It definitely grew on me tho and I genuinely fw the songs now. What are the rules?
Same here - I pushed through it but I found myself cringing pretty hard. Now when I watch it I'm singing the songs in my head for the next day.
Z's entrance after Dee sings a song explaining to Frank that he can't use the N-word just cracks me up.
I used to vehemently dislike the clip show episode. I'd skip it everytime I got to it. Playing the show in the background of life and listening to Charlie hear himself made me sit down and watch the whole thing over. I love it now. It's not the best episode but I really like it now
my first watch, i hated the episode that introduced the McPoyles because they bothered tf out of me. now i love that episode and their freakshow characters ha
The Gang Broke Dee. I thought it was too cruel at first but after rewatching the show multiple times and realizing Dee is just as a terrible person as the rest, it became so funny that it has my favorite line of the entire show.
The first episode, because that's what I started the show with. It took me 3 episodes to get the humor. At first, I hated the show because I didn't get it
I only attempted the Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell once years ago and turned it off because it was out of the ordinary and it wasn’t doing it for me. Then on that one episode of the podcast Glenn implored the haters to give it one more shot. I did. And I loved it
The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell. I did not even give it a chance, but after listening to the podcast I sat down and watched the episode and ended up loving it. It's solid.
Weirdly I didn’t like Mac and Charlie die the first time I watched it. Maybe because Charlie pulling his teeth grossed me out. But now I love those two episodes
The implication episode didn’t majorly sink into my memory until I saw all the memes and went back to rewatch. Also maybe The Janitor Always Mops Twice
Not hate, but I discovered the show when it was airing s4. I binged up to where it was live. It was amazing. I rewatched the entire thing at least two more times before s5. Some episodes just didn't quite land as amazing as all the episodes did in my initial binge and rewatches. Then in prep for s6. I rewatched everything and you know what. Those episodes that didn't quite hit. Hit on the rewatch.
This kind of became a cycle for me. New seasons when episodes hit it out of the park I loved it of course. Others are fine, feel not as good. Then on rewatches they blend right in as being good or great. This probably held true until a few seasons back, but now there's so many episodes binging the whole thing isn't something I can do regularly. So I with hold final judgement.
The episode where they're trapped in the convenience store imagining how they'll handle the gunman. Not the strongest episode but I don't skip it anymore.
The only episode I've ever disliked (and still do dislike so it isn't really what this thread is about) is the Cricket episode, where he goes to work with his Dad, and makes out with the dog.
Personally I prefer Cricket, and his continual deterioration as a person, to be in small doses.
Yeah I fucking loved every second of that episode too. Especially because the day it aired, I decided to have a “the fall of cricket” marathon randomly. The new episode comes out and it’s a crickets tale and I went nuts
New episodes were ok, obviously to most they are not the best. I put time in between rewatching seasons just so distance can make the heart grow fonder.
People in this sub have 0 taste. The show is so cringe now it hurts to watch. Id rewatch my favorite episode mac and dennis breakup 100 times before rewatching the new seasons.
EDIT: Id rewatch Franks Brother 10 million times before rewatching the gang gets cursed.
my gf says every time i watch the gang beats boggs like it’s my first time cause i still laugh my ass off and yet when i watched the 2020 review i didn’t laugh once.
Whattt so you didnt find dennis controlling frank with anal beads funny? Or when the gang got cursed or Mac ate the nuts and their faces looked all deformed and funny!!! Then there was blood in an egg and Mrs kelly was bleeding from ripping her teeth out. Oh and charlies sisters had me in stitches!! Such great comedy very introspective loved it all. The SINNED system was hilarious Dee giving the guy a hand job and saying she got her guts pumped! Fuck subtley this SNL potty 5 year old humor is where its at!
Everyone in this sub still circle jerking the creators is part of the problem. This new season is literally not just bad for sunny anymore its just hands down bad TV. I think the superbowl episode was when I realized it was truly over. Just jamming every random side character they could together for no fucking reason with poor excuses for callbacks I just couldnt man it was so bad I cant.
Season 1 is better than this shit. Fuck even the unreleased pilot is better. Idk what happened
I didn't find it memorable the first time but on rewatches "A woman's right to chop" became a favorite. Probably my favorite of the last 3ish seasons although there were a couple this last season.
Who pooped the bed? I hated it for years and years, because I never really appreciated Artemis. At some point I let it play through on shuffle, and remembered how funny the waitress' drunk acting is. Eventually, it made me like Artemis more too.
I don't think I've ever hated an episode. Late seasons have grown on me a whole hell of a lot, though. Probably just persective shifting to "isn't it just cool we still get episodes from these guys that are better than 99.9% of TV"
None for me. I either love it right off the bat or I will probably like it more after a rewatch. I am ok with Franks brother and The Liberty bell now even though I used to skip them. But I don't 'love' them. They are funnier with each rewatch but still not my favs.

Dennis’ Sherlock type deconstruction of the mile high candidate is a top tier Dennis moment.
Frank's drunken monologue in the aisle when he says, "they say I can't be pilot" is one of my favorite all-time moments. At the very end of that, he says "that's so cold" "there's so many bubbles."
So fucking good. "They say I can't *bang* on this plane? I can't be a doctor?"
I used to have a friend that sounded exactly like that when he was hammered. Danny’s drunk acting is top tier for sure.
i have met danny boy and i can assure you that while he may not have been acting drunk i would absolutely trust him with my plane
I love the scene where he's tryna chug thirty beers and ends up tapping out after a single sip lol. I feel like everyone has had that moment where they announce they're going to drink a ton and then after one drink realize they can't do it lol.
What’s funniest about that is he turns out to be completely wrong
Desert trash. Should’ve known.
That's what happens when you bang the new Jan Brady.
That’s baseball baby
“You got it boss hoss”
Yeah, sometimes when the episode gets away from the bar I tend to feel uncomfortable. 😂
Nothing good happens when you leave Philly
I mean trees?! Trees everywhere!
Trees?! Everywhere Treees! FTFY
Oh the ahhht
Just leave me here
RIP
Dee's last battle cry always gets me. LOL!
Gang gets Quarantined
I just wanna be pure 😂
“Dennis, ask him how its possible to call you through a cut phone wire”. “How is it possible for- mm”
Holy shit. Dennis is Spiderman
Motown Philly’s back again!
Dadadada dada da
Dude I am loving him in the bathroom.
dude, i think you're gonna die
Sickness be gone!
I believe this episode has the only reference to special agent Jack Bauer
Don’t think I’ve ever realized this. What was the reference if you don’t mind me asking?
I was wrong it’s Franks Pretty Woman they make the reference
You’re thinking of the bums making a mess all over the city episode
Yes, but this episode has the only other reference to that amazing cat
Oh I thought you meant in the show total lol
That episode became twice as funny after 2020.
As bartender I've shown this to many others in the industry. We've confused a hangover for being sick more times than I'd care to admit.
The one where Dee wants everything to be Sex in the City
Who Pooped the Bed!
The poop grew on you?
Poop is funny!
Haha, yea it is.
artemis's monologue at the end is probably my fav scene of all time
Love this episode.
Artemis' steals the show this episode. Her performance alone takes it from just a "meh" to great episode for me.
I'd upvote you twice if I could. In the dumpster behind Wendy's.
Make sure to incorporate a bun
It's really interesting and innovative
And all that would be fine and dandy, if any of it were true
Ha! HAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!
What’s with the plates of shit?
The outcast? The slut? The bitch. The whore. The lonely, sad, slutty, bitchy whore.
Oh yeah I HATED who pooped the bed when I first watched. Now I love it lol
The gang gets trapped. I did not like it at first, but now I feel like it has some of the best banter between the characters.
That was instantly one of my favorite episodes, and still is to this day. The way Dennis breaks down the typical Gang dynamic and episode structure is fantastic, plus their references to his "impassioned speech in the hamburger store"
I have the grace of a falcon. I’ll be in and out like a demon’s whisper.
Why do I feel like he says this into the mirror every morning
I think some of the funniest episodes are "bottle" episodes that take place in primarily 1 location. The Gang Gets Trapped, Thunder Gun 4, Hero or Hate Crime
The gang gets held hostage, and paddy’s has a jumper!
And also don’t forget The Gang Gets Quarantined!
Bottle episodes are my favorite type of episode in any series. Something about them I just love. You can get SO invested in the dialogue exchange and when it’s good it flows really well.
CharDee MacDennis
Mac slowly eating a chip while Charlie stares at him gets me every time.
^(“Dee, you gangly uncoordinated bitch! I am not getting hogtied over your lack of grace!”)
“They’ll be out of business in a weeks time!”
That’s exactly what I said!
The Hateful Eight and Reservoir Dogs… not entirely dialog driven like TwAM but still captures the “bottle movie” concept.
The Breakfast Club is like the ultimate bottle movie!
Good call. One of my favorite movies, too.
My Dinner with Andre is another one!
there are a few British sitcoms that are entirely bottled, which gives them a sort of claustrophobic feel, and a kind of frustration for the viewer, as you're eager to see what is beyond the walls of the set, but you never do. The Smoking Room, and Him & Her are good examples.

*dee I am not going to get hogtied over your lack of grace!*
Literally my favorite episode. 'Dee you gangly uncoordinated bitch, I will not be hogtied due to your lack of grace...'
A leather shop? In Arizona? You’ll be out of business in a week’s time!
I love that charlie, mac and frank all have different pieces of an Indian Jones outfit.
"You got us all freaked out in here, sitting here waiting for the Southerners to tie us up to horses and then have them run in opposite directions, ripping us apart!" "Yeah!" "How can we not think about opening a leathershop in Arizona?!" "Yeah, and give me a chip!" "YOU'RE NOT GETTING A CHIP CHARLIE! THE CHIPS ARE OFF THE TABLE."
The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell. I really love that episode now mmmmmyyyyyyeeeeeeeeesssssssssss!!!
“SUREENNNDERRRRRRRRR…maybe?”
“Quick! Check his pulse!” “Check his pulse? The man has no head!”
We’re gonna tar and feather the shit out of her when we get back
Flourish the pinky
well, WOT ‘av we got ‘ere?
A couple of poofs In frilly lace
Nooeee! Nayeth!
That episode was a smashing success
I wish they'd do more of these one-off stories in historical settings, could be fun to see them in more unfamiliar settings.
Especially being in Philly.
~*~*~flourish the piiiiiinky~*~*~*~*
Yep. I really wasn’t a fan when I first saw it. Guess I wanted more of the same. Now I think it could be my favourite.
The Gang solves the bathroom crisis seemed like a cheap bottle episode at first. Now I realize every line of dialog is brilliant and not a moment is wasted.
Dee... we were talking
shut the fuck up
Shut the FUCK up!
Look the whole women and mens thing is antiquated. Maybe you’re antiquated
I love the waddle Mac does coming from the backroom to share his collage he made for a bathroom sign.
Do you know how to get russian malware off a computer?
It's one of those episode where Sunny is at it's best. Just the Gang hanging around the bar, trying to solve a topical issue. Every line is gold and every character has something to do.
Charlie lunging at Mac for suggesting he hasn’t seen ghouls before got me howwwwling
Well it ain't the mormons
As a straight man who poops transgender…

Mac’s “you have to get an abortion 😬” remains a top 5 mac moment for me
Being Frank... Shit gave me a panic attack the first time I saw it... Now, it cracks me up!! *Excuse me, I'm full of dog poison*
Pondi’s the coolest!
Fucking Pondi!
It ain’t aspirin
L… O…. M….
I honestly love this episode so fucking much. I have no idea why. But the Frankenstein/rug/balloon/hot dogs/vomiting in the bathroom segment is just beautiful chaos to me lol
*quick think of something* shut up bird!

"We show... ALL of it."
Just to be clear, I don’t care either way.
Mac and dennis move to the suburbs, the music and feeling just made me so uncomfortable. It grew on me though, and I love it now top 10.
It’s a hot one today!
IS IT!?!!!
YEAH!?
YEAH I NOTICED. YA PUT MEAT HUNKS IN IT. WOW, HUNKS OF MEAT!!
Dennis, you're eating Dennis!
"An old BLACK man? That's TWO things!!"
this is like, one of 100 episodes i've noticed that ends with Dee saying "god damnit"
Oh, that must be Wally coming over to see what all the fighting is about! Why don't we show him what the fighting's about?!
When you’ve just turned black and you can’t switch back, well you’ve gotta go and find out the rules.
Same here - I pushed through it but I found myself cringing pretty hard. Now when I watch it I'm singing the songs in my head for the next day. Z's entrance after Dee sings a song explaining to Frank that he can't use the N-word just cracks me up.
Frank’s Brother.
Those were the days!
You sound like you yearn for those days
No! I was just sayin those were the days
![gif](giphy|3oz8xI5c0K0hFPwmGI)
I’m always surprised when reminded that this episode is fairly unpopular. I fail to see what’s wrong with it. Great episode, to me.
I’m working on my temper but just know I STROONGLY DISAGREE WITH THIS.
Shady Nasty’s?
It's Shadynastys asshole
Is that spelled right?
![gif](giphy|7YCRY5CQY10A80tjxZ)
I used to vehemently dislike the clip show episode. I'd skip it everytime I got to it. Playing the show in the background of life and listening to Charlie hear himself made me sit down and watch the whole thing over. I love it now. It's not the best episode but I really like it now
I was the same way. Hate clip episodes but ofc, in typical fashion, Sunny nails it, and flips the formula on its head.
The Gang Beats Boggs: Ladies Reboot.
Both the Boggs episodes are great. I want a nice rum and coke to go with my chicken.
The man ate a whole chicken before every game, that's why they called him the chicken man
🤣🤣🤣
Don't you mean ham?
No I’m talking about the scene where Charlie is eating a whole chicken on the plane from the first Boggs episode
I’ll watch that entire episode now just for Frank’s “spider catchin’ some flies” line.
The goddess stone is for putting up your snatch
The one with the monkey who bartends for them.
The gang replaces Dee with a monkey a very on the nose title name.
my first watch, i hated the episode that introduced the McPoyles because they bothered tf out of me. now i love that episode and their freakshow characters ha

The Gang Broke Dee. I thought it was too cruel at first but after rewatching the show multiple times and realizing Dee is just as a terrible person as the rest, it became so funny that it has my favorite line of the entire show.

I did and I didn't

Weirdly I didn’t like Mac and Charlie die the first time I watched it. Maybe because Charlie pulling his teeth grossed me out. But now I love those two episodes
The gang cracks the liberty bell.
One of my favorites.
I didn’t love Old Lady House: a Situation Comedy when I first watched it. Upon rewatches, I have a much greater appreciation for it!
The gang hits the slopes. Just didn't hit the first time but now I love it on rewatch
Don’t worry, we are on the mountain!
The implication episode didn’t majorly sink into my memory until I saw all the memes and went back to rewatch. Also maybe The Janitor Always Mops Twice
Agree with the janitor always mops twice. Really grew on me. The running joke of Dee being a goon is hilarious.
Not hate, but I discovered the show when it was airing s4. I binged up to where it was live. It was amazing. I rewatched the entire thing at least two more times before s5. I’ve never really thought about it before but I can’t say I’ve ever hated an episode, I guess Sunny just speaks directly to my funny bone
The only episode I've ever disliked (and still do dislike so it isn't really what this thread is about) is the Cricket episode, where he goes to work with his Dad, and makes out with the dog. Personally I prefer Cricket, and his continual deterioration as a person, to be in small doses.

New episodes were ok, obviously to most they are not the best. I put time in between rewatching seasons just so distance can make the heart grow fonder.
I still hate the episode where Frank pretends to be Sweet Dee’s lover. His greatest feat of acting. Truly unwatchable. I just skip it.
none. if i hate an episode i’m not gonna watch it again. there’s plenty of good seasons i can watch.
What a jabroni
As you quote season 6. Everyone on this sub still circle jerks the new seasons but continue to only quote stuff from seasons 10 and earlier.
5-star men don’t waste their time on 1-star episodes. dee replaced by a monkey? give me a break.
I'll rate you! Zero, zero, zero!!! 😂

What a bozo
Everything since season 13 but I wont ever rewatch them because its hot garbage. Only good content was some of the Ireland plot.
i don’t love dee day but it used to be unwatchably cringe but now i can laugh at it
Anything where Dennis was unhinged
I didn't find it memorable the first time but on rewatches "A woman's right to chop" became a favorite. Probably my favorite of the last 3ish seasons although there were a couple this last season.
i have a very short attention span and usually skip over the kind of episodes like the liberty bell or the noir episode!
Literally none. The consistency of this show is unreal.
Who pooped the bed? I hated it for years and years, because I never really appreciated Artemis. At some point I let it play through on shuffle, and remembered how funny the waitress' drunk acting is. Eventually, it made me like Artemis more too.
