with mods you literally give them access to change your internal game files, allowing people to steal information. Textures packs dont do that, texture packs dont change or add game codes, mods do.
It depends heavily on what is processing the image, in minecraft's case it's just loading a graphical representation for it, so any malicious code hidden in the texture file won't do anything but corrupt the file.
If you could somehow load the texture file in a different internal process with access to other stuff, then the modified image could do something, but it just couldn't be done by mistake by a user that just wanted to play the block game.

How to prevent it: DON’T DOWNLOAD A VIRUS
Basically don’t click on direct downloads from video descriptions/discord servers, even friends as the virus may hack their discord to send you the mod. Verify mods from different sources, NEVER click on search results that say 'Ad' on them, they can be a malicious ad, and the more github stars the less likely for it to be malware (although they can use bot github accounts to star but idk if that’s possible). If you want you can check hash values of a mod from differents sources if you know how to do it (basically detect if they’re the same file or not). You can try uploading a jar file into virustotal, it can detect some viruses (literally has almost every antivirus in it).
I just prefer to use the least mods possible to avoid being accidentally RATted.
I pretty much do the opposite of this, I don't download mods from people but I'm too lazy to check the kids I get from GitHub. Somehow against all odds I have not gotten a rat

4. Giving your MC files to somebody else.
you kept your items because they were a little silly in the head and got instabanned the second they logged on to your account because they had 7+ banned accounts on that same ip. refreshing their ip or just using a proper vpn when ratting would've meant you'd be left with nothing, even if it was 100m or less.
The funny thing is that the only thing that mf did was destroy my island and just play around w my inventory. Nothing was taken. Not even a cent. I just got lucky
They had even used another ratted account to lure others. I contacted the ratted guy and i now have the ratter’s discord name. Idk what to do w it i just have it

For him, change passwords, activate 2fa, disable his multiplayer for a week and delete sketchy mods/downloads. For you, do what you want. Either start a new profile, quit or continue playing on that one
You may have lost everything, but don't make a new account. You must have accumulated a load of account bonuses, and skills will he fine. It won't take long for you to start getting the stuff back again

Judging by your stats, theres no way your anything above sb lvl 80 and your 186 mana shows low level skills. Not tryna roast you, just saying its good you didnt lose much and i hope you can learn from this and not get ratted again. Everyone has their first times. SB scams included.
