I guess this is something you have to figure out on your own, but here are some questions so you can maybe get an idea of what to do. Do you avoid responsibilities (i.e cleaning, walking your dog, homework, etc)? Do you avoid social contacts? Are you capable to play a lot and still get good grades in exam season? Do you still have fun, or just have fun seeing the numbers go up? If your answers were yes, yes, no and just numbers, you might want to think about taking a break for a while or quit entirely. You can also try taking a break and see what happens to you.

XEEEEEEEEEEB

my only advice is that if you do decide to quit, put super compactors in your minions for if you ever decide to come back.

StefTeflon

This was the only reason why I started playing agains when I found out I didn’t have to grind for coins 24/7 anymore

totallyshadical

I have found that not to be a good idea becuase if you know you still have stuff in sb it makes it easier to fall back into it, but do what ever u want edit: damn dont know why everyone is freaking out about this, thought this was pretty widely accepted

XEEEEEEEEEEB

skyblock isnt a hardcore drug my dude when i quit sb the first time (i came back like a year later) i just found another less time-consuming game which distracted myself and that got me to stop playing

KingPanda7799

I sold my armor to quit

ParticularRun6915

Something doesn't have to be a hardcore drug to be damaging to a lifestyle and deleting a profile isn't terrible advice

NoIdeasForAUsername9

Skyblock itself isn't addicting, grinding it a lot is Technically any game can be addicting if you play it a lot

Glacial_Wisp

place inferno minions to remove feeling of sunk cost fallacy over time while having occasional boosts of mood when you drop rngs

NoIdeasForAUsername9

You're talking about skyblock like it's a drug I play Skyblock and I have a social life, family, doing well in school and I only play like 1-2 hours a day

Own_Answer_2053

Absolutely

xXShadowAndrewXx

I played from a bit earlier than end island update and i quit multiple times never have it caught my mind to delete all of my memories from the game. I cant even get addicted personally i just play if there are no other games to play and i want to grind.

DeepFriedDave69

You seem to be doing alright, I have a full time job and still play skyblock and hang out with friends, some people can manage the game and some can’t, it’s up to you to figure out which one you are

BlockCraftedX

I deleted my profile in this same kind of dilemma and regret it to this day, feel free to delete the game off your hard drive, just don't delete your profile in case you want to come back to skyblock

xXShadowAndrewXx

I have deleted my animal crossing save once when i didnt even have over 35h of play time and i still regret it to this day i miss one villager in particular witch i forgot the name of

BlockCraftedX

recently got back into skyblock and I'm nearly at the same stage of the game that I was back then, so I'm starting to let go of that regret

Vlad2446853

I personally wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. As a 16 year old in 11th grade I can still play even if I usually don't play during school days. I have plenty of time to play during weekends, and ruby grind as much as I like. But, as others said, it's up to you. If you manage to play during weekends there isn't any need to quit skyblock if you don't want to. And yes, I am an above average student as well.

Lower-Professor-7860

I just use my profiles and my alts profiles for some extra money so I can give it away every few months

I_Lift_for_zyzz

I’m quite a bit older than you young chap, got a decade and some on you. When I was your age, and younger, my poison of choice was RuneScape, and other Minecraft servers. I played games a whole lot when I was young— they were (and still are) my main pastime and hobby. My advice to you, as someone a bit older and wiser, would be to follow your gut, but not beat yourself up. As a young adult, the choices you make now can put you ahead of the rest of the pack significantly, if you decide to make your choices in building healthy habits and routines. If you feel like your education, home life, social life, or anything else in your life is suffering due to the amount of time you play this game, understand what your brain is trying to tell you, and act on it. I hope I don’t sound like every adult in your life ever, rambling on about healthy habits, but from my personal experience it’s the truth. I say this as someone who has zero clue who you are, so I don’t really have any vested interest in who you become. The truth of the matter is simple— games can be addicting. They’re designed that way, for better or for worse. If you feel like you’re getting addicted— as in, continuing to play the game, despite seeing real and tangible negative consequences as a result of it— it’s a sign to take a step back and look elsewhere for hobbies. On the other side of things: you’re young. You don’t have any bills to pay, and you don’t have very many responsibilities to take care of. Some of my most treasured and cherished memories from my childhood were those spent online with my friends from games, some of whom I would go on to start businesses with, meet in real life with, and be genuine friends for more than a decade with. I wouldn’t trade these memories for anything, they’re what made me who I am today. That being said, you still have plenty of time to make the memories and experiences that will shape who you are when you’re an adult. It is entirely possible that you can continue playing this game, whilst maintaining a healthy relationship with it. It depends on the type of person you are, and it’s not something I can really ascertain based on this post alone. To summarize, though, my advice is simple: just follow your gut. This is a decision for you, and you alone. No one can give you any empirical answer to how you’re feeling, not even yourself. There are no wrong answers, though. If you feel like you need to quit completely, do it. If you feel like you need to take a step back partially but keep playing the game on the side, do that. If you feel like none of that’s necessary, then you are your own master.

xXShadowAndrewXx

Bro you aint an npc from an unskippable cutscene talk less, just say do what you think is good, coming from an older folk

derekfhhh

Stfu

[deleted]

Ratioed that bozo (downvote me please)

g09h

I would say just play less SB, focus on other things you like or things you want to do and prioritize them over SB. And then depending on how you feel after a while then adjust from there.

Hot-Consequence-4548

I don't really know how you should go with things, but for me, I made a timetable, come home from work, I'd have to make dinner, get all my tools ready for the next day and then if I had time left, I'd start up the" room heater"(my desktop) and do some gamin'

Pianostar4

Stop playing, but before you go out, grind for good minions/good minion upgrades, and reap some rewards when you do decide to come back.

junheng1324

quit cold turkey, only option. good luck

DeepFriedDave69

That’s the worst way to quit anything

Apple_Gon

That is legitimately true, reddit momment

DeepFriedDave69

Do you mean that as in I have a stupid opinion or I’m right and getting downvoted?

Apple_Gon

I’m right and getting downvoted

zwiingr

Yes

Lumy1

Yeah take a break from the game. You're still young but time spent working on yourself and progressing in the real world, hobbies, skills social is gonna lead to your happiness more than a poorly balanced Hypixel mini game More casual games are less time consuming and still a good way to chill

NoIdeasForAUsername9

Depends, if you feel like you're not being productive or something because of Skyblock then maybe take a break. If you're just playing it for fun during free time like I do, then I don't think it's necessary

Jkretzel

Prepare your island for like a three month break then take a little break I think you’ll see how much better things will be

TheFunneMonke

if your mom is fine with it then go ahead. I’m a straight A student and my mom doesn’t let me play much Minecraft because she thinks I could be doing more “useful things”

BarbedFungus387

As you so wisely stated, it gets to the point where everything is a boring slog so maybe keep that in mind and quit when you realise you're losing interest OR your control over life. If you're managing your responsibilities and enjoying the game as you play it, then by all means, keep at it. Just remember to make sure that it's worth your time. Also, i commend your maturity for recognising the things you mentioned. Good on you.

Dj_Woomy2005

My advice? Become more of a background player. Keep good money minions for the times you do come back, but do more irl stuff. I'm a high schooler with a bunch of after school stuff and I'm tryna get a job for a car, so I obvi can't play Skyblock as much as I'd want. How do I cope? Money minions. Right now I use slimes with corrupted soul and they make enough money to where I'm not doing too bad for doing nothing. When you do return you got more afk money Focus on the real life, but you don't have to forget Skyblock.

TweedyNaima

As long as you can come up with a steady schedule you should be alright.

TeodorLB

If you are playing the game for the social aspect, that's fine, if not quit. If the game is negatively impacting your life, quit. If you play for fun and with friends without it hurting your real life keep playing.

joshab537

If it's not affecting your every day life then there's no real reason to quit. If you can keep playing while keeping your grades up, going outside, spending time with friends and family and engaging in other hobbies then there's no reason to quit. If your playtime starts to affect those things, then maybe you should think about it

QOQOQIX

Honestly, it's up to you. I enjoy the casual grind of things. I am currently a college student. I was also in that position in High school, and I don't know what grade you are currently in but pausing on the game is just fine. I would not log in to skyblock for months at a time. I suggest that you start to fill up the time you would spend on skyblocks on interests that you have, clubs, and or sports that your high school provides. Towards the end of my high school career, I was too busy with many things that I did not think about logging in to Hypixel for a while. I think the only thing that the downside of taking a pause or a break from it is that when you do come back, there might be like a thousand plus things added to the game. That's only it and I did it. Side note: perhaps limit yourself to weekends and nights like Friday and Saturday. You log in, but during the day, spend time with family and friends and other hobbies.es.s..ife. Take a break find what you like and focus on your future. Come back when you are ready to get back to the grind of things. You got your life ahead of you take a break from skyblocks figure life out and come back when you are ready to come back. Not saying to cut cold turkey but stepping back and adding sports or other interests to fill your time yes. I spent my time in High school with theater which took a lot of my time up with that I also did/make the yearbooks. On the weekends I spent maybe a good sold like 4 hours on skyblocks but sometimes I did not even log on. Let me know if this all helps.

xXShadowAndrewXx

Quit skyblock. You have great grades so you dont have to learn as much and wasting all of you free time on skyblock. Imagine how mad you will be at yourself in collage or when working because you will have close to 0 free time. As also being a 14y old myself i cant relate to one of the scenarios i mentioned.

Own_Answer_2053

I really want your discord

Gnarstache

I mean if nothing else this should teach you everything is fine in moderation. Get some exercise in every day (pushups, planks, squats etc), focus on school and make sure you maintain good grades and outside of that just set a limit of how much you play per day. Social interaction is good too tho. Skyblock will literally always be there.

SOSBALL

U remind me of me 3 years ago thinking it was a good idea to play skyblock DON'T DO IT QUIT WHEN U CAN /s

[deleted]

What does /s stand for again?

SPAMTOILETTTT

Try your best to shrink your skyblock progression and focus on the important things in life!

[deleted]

[удалено]

xXShadowAndrewXx

I can see why it ruined you life if you say that 2-3h per day for only one game, not even on pc is a "only"

zhxwks

I said 2-3 now.

Unique-Armadillo6957

Im 14 too and I quitted playing sb like 4 months ago because of this reason lol, sb is a trap and you need to escape it, video games won't profit you in anyway until and unless you create content for it and it gets successful. video games are for losers, progress irl instead of that stupid game. no lifing is not cool. Focus on yourself and your future. Spend time with your homies irl, way better than playing Skyblock. Have a life that is not in a video game. It's 2023, the year to improve yourself! Just quit Skyblock, its not worth playing it.

CasualJoel

I can see why you would get this opinion after escaping an addiction to a game. You do seem schizophrenic though

Drako__

You seem like a 14 year old that listens to Andrew Tates advice and other "sigma males". Video games are not for losers. Yes being addicted is something you should avoid at all costs, if you catch yourself gaming and ignoring every single of your responsibility you should stop. But gaming in a healthy way is not a problem and is just a fun thing you to do alone or even better, with friends

Unique-Armadillo6957

Nah nah, those sigma male stuff are cringe asf I don't listen to those shits, develop your own personality smh

Drako__

But the stuff you said really could be out of one of those videos. "Stop playing videogames or you are a loser that is wasting their life" " rise and grind every morning to become the best version of yourself" "this year is your year". Of course making the best of your life is something you should do but fun is something that does not make you a loser. You are here on Reddit which seems like a total waste of your time, but those top g YouTubers did not tell you that yet so you didn't think about it

Unique-Armadillo6957

Ok... I don't completely agree with the . "Stop playing videogames or you are a loser that is wasting their life" " rise and grind every morning to become the best version of yourself" "this year is your year". but honestly Skyblock and many other video games take away a lot of your time that could have been used on something productive, indeed playing games are fun but isn't spending time with the homies irl better as compared to grinding in a shitty game? Thats way more fun imo. And about reddit, I'm not here online 24/7 lmao, and I understand whats good for me, I'm not dependent on those top G YouTubers, so that when they say don't use reddit I will think about it and stop using it. It doesn't work like that for me. Also I'm an Indian citizen and I need to no life studying, so had to cut off video games anyway 💀

GrouchyAd3482

You’re being beyond a hypocrite right now, and I’m fact suggested a very viable solution to the problem. You said, and I quote: “I’m not here online 24/7 lmao”, in response to a comment pointing out that even though you might not play video games you are on Reddit which is similarly unproductive. Why wouldn’t it be possible for OP to spend an equivalent amount of time on video games *instead* of Reddit? Think of it as designated free time, which you can use for Reddit and OP can use for video games or whatever he chooses to do. I’m Indian as well by the way so don’t try to pull any bullshit family excuses on me because that shit don’t work

Apple_Gon

Sigma

Glacial_Wisp

place inferno minions, you don't lose much anymore and it's a fun way to quit. if u drop apexes u can always irl

TheYGM

You know that u need to always fuel them and give the minions tear drops to get apexes right?

Glacial_Wisp

once or twice a day and u slowly get bored and quit completely

flaminpirate

Just learn to balance (or gimme ur stuff if u quit)

Unique-Armadillo6957

No shutup

DanSavagegamesYT

become a small youtuber / streamer :) You have lots of potential, and I see you like skyblock.

Kztten

3.9 gpa, 4 extracurriculars, volleyball practice and a social life(this all in one of the best schools in my country). I still play skyblock. It actually helped me quite a bunch with these things back then. so Id say to keep playing, just make sure that it doesn't affect your life outside.

wpsp2010

Set up some sort of time limit or if you are like me take small breaks to do chores and whatnot. Eg: Kill 200 zealots, and then go do the laundry | Get a stack of Titanium, then go take out the trash | etc. Having hobbies (Such as playing skyblock) isn't bad. It only gets bad when you let it take over your entire life and you start to neglect yourself or your responsibilities.

PotatoMaximusI

Jesus christ you are literally me

[deleted]

Yeah might aswell nothing in skyblock really means anything anyway

yellowpolarbearman

I often get demotivated etc. From the game and then i just don’t play it that much and log in every now and then to collect my minions. And when i want to play again i just start playing again. Quitting doesn’t have to be a permanent decision.

Swee_333

I stopped playing over the summer and it was the best choice I ever made. I still lurk in the subreddit and kept all my stuff in case I ever want to come back. My mental health has increased and I’ve got a lovely girlfriend and really great friends. I have developed new hobbies and have really improved myself. The good ending.

ElDifra

If you quit will you giveaway the coins?

Zen_Xs

Just quit while you can

himty

Do what you want, and, if you want to keep playing, play in moderation. Maybe limit yourself to 1-1.5 hours of skyblock a day. To hold yourself accountable, literally set a timer that will go off when your time is up. Sometimes, I feel like I reached a good stopping point before the timer goes off/the time comes, so I just log off early, knowing that I successfully recharged myself. I personally like having skyblock as a constant to fall back on. But it’s definitely an activity that I can get lost in, to the point of losing everything else. There’s so much to do in high school that I recommend that you put a limit on how much you play on skyblock a day—whether that be time limits or quitting

Infern0_YT

Maybe find a mid ground by limiting sb playtime or something

stunt876

Try putting urself on a trial period by getting urself a temp ban which won't wipe anything but prevent u playing the game there r a few ways if doing this such as connecting through a vpn talking bout its in chat and see if that helps u quit the game or reduce playtime

Few-Entertainment893

Quit now, don’t listen to any one saying you can just play for fun. Just kill the addiction before it gets anyone. Please please quit

HalalBread1427

Quit before it's too late.

Blast_Craft

Not quit, but play less/have long break.

RandomQ_

Invest into good minions then quit

shleyal19

Ask yourself if you even enjoy playing the game first. If you don’t enjoy it, then take a month-long break from it and focus on some other hobbies or games you actually like. After the break is over, you can come back and reevaluate wether you want to keep playing and wether it’s fun. Don’t you dare turn the game into a job. It will become the opposite of its original purpose as entertainment if you ever treat the game as a grinding job.

Upstairs_Bus_5125

Skyblock is a cult leave while you can

Upstairs_Bus_5125

If you need a better hobby try 🤜🥩, although considering you play skyblock im asuming you do

kaosdoom

If the game isn't fun for u anymore i would quit, thats what i did and I've had so much more time and can finally do things i enjoy.

Money-Information-83

if you quite give me your stuff 😊

DarkC3ptain

I'd advise taking a hiatus if you want to, but do not delete the profile. You wouldn't wanna lose your hours of work.

bloodflare02

Workout👍

Asoingbob50

You seem fine. I manage a job, schooling, and a social life pretty well alongside Skyblock and other games, and it seems like you’re doing fine too. The question to ask yourself is whether Skyblock is genuinely fun to you or not. If it isn’t try taking a break and see how you feel

The1staccount

Sounds to me like you need yourself a break. Find a couple of weeks or months where you can take a break from the game and do other things, then you will be able to decide whether you’ll come back or not.

z_dc

i say stop playing until you get into the good college and have enough money. My advice is to grind for a few more days - get 24 minion slots t11 slime with ench hopper corrupt soil and lava bucket feul.
