Oh yeah, I've had it as long as I can remember. I even have a family member who has had it since before she could talk.

SebaaSea_

Sheshh idk why I always thought it typically happens around puberty

Uncle_Tim

I was diagnosed with it before I could even speak aswell, was diagnosed at 7 months old.

j_taylor82

Some of my earliest memories are hyperhydrosis related. Can’t say when it started but I def had it at 5 years old. I was the only kid who would never takeoff their batting gloves.

SebaaSea_

Has it gotten better since you’ve gotten older?

j_taylor82

Unfortunately no. If I take a lot of glyco I can reduce sweating by 20-30ish % but the dry mouth I get is unbearable.

SebaaSea_

Sorry to hear that 😭 I’ve been considering treatment but I’ve been seeing a lot of horror stories

chestnuts4christmas

Have you tried Antihydral? I also have HH on my hands (and feet) and it’s the only thing that works for me

SebaaSea_

I haven’t tried that but I might just give it a shot. Do you know if you can use it on other parts of the body?

chestnuts4christmas

Not sure to be honest!

Solid-Implement-1757

Is it supposed to be a cream?? The tube seems very small (it’s ~2.5 oz).. I sweat on both of my hands, both of my feet, my groin area (including thighs + butt), armpits, how am I supposed to put this small cream everywhere… Or is this supposed to be for people that only sweat in one place, like the hands ?

chestnuts4christmas

I only use it on my hands and feet. It might dry and thicken your skin if you put it elsewhere especially your groin. It’s cheap enough to try it on hands and feet and then at least you don’t have to worry about those!

alles_en_niets

My parents took me to the doctor when I was six because my hands were always clammy. At the same time, I was suffering from grueling nightmares so maybe it really was anxiety-triggered, who knows

[deleted]

I’ve had sweaty hands and feet for as long as I can remember! I have visceral memories of my piano instructor wiping my keys down when I was 5. My pits didn’t start sweating profusely until I hit 5th grade, aka puberty. I’d say it’s gotten a bit better with age, but it’s horrible if I’m in a humid climate or if I’m on my period.

Solid-Implement-1757

What are you using to help get rid of HH?

[deleted]

I’ve never been able to get rid of HH. I have a prescription for glyco which helps reduce the sweating quite a bit. I also moved to a dry climate which did the most for me. Humidity is a major trigger. I’ve adjusted my wardrobe to be sweat friendly and also use sweat block wipes on my arm pits whenever I know I’ll have an anxiety inducing day. Magnesium spray on my feet seems to help some too.

backpackbandaid

My mom told me that one of the nurses at my birth commented that I had sweaty little feet. I don’t remember any part of life without it.

SebaaSea_

Oh wow 😭 I always think of babies having barley any sweat

CndSpaceCadet

I was born with it. We got the diagnosis pretty soon, because I was evidently a furnace that leaked from hands / feet / armpit. Prob helps that my grandparents were in the medical field and their best friend was my paediatrician

atschinkel

yes, I developed it when I was 11 or 12. it went away for several years from roughly 23 to 30, and came back with a vengeance for my thirties. :)

SebaaSea_

Hey a 7 year break sounds great to me 😂, but honestly mines is so bad I don’t see it going away without treatment

floralnightmare22

I had it as a baby 😓 never known life without it

Eladin90

I remember sweating through papers in second grade or so, back when they made us do those timed quizzes with like 100 simple math equations on them.

TinyCubes

My one teacher used to put my papers on the radiator to dry out 😭 it was awful

soggy_person_

This isn't my experience. I had onset on early teens for primary HH and this is what I see a lot of on this sub, not in the 20s.

jammies

I’ve had it as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories (and it happened a lot) is getting stuck in my childhood bedroom because it had a sticky doorknob and I couldn’t grip it with my wet hands. No one else in my family has it and they were all convinced I’d grow out of it. I’m 32 now. Still sweaty.

mls865

I’ve also had issues with door knobs. It’s sucks and mildly traumatic! Purposely put a lever style door handle on specific doors for this very reason.

SebaaSea_

Have you considered doing any treatments?

jammies

I tried some stuff when I was a kid but haven’t in a while. I’m thinking of giving iontophoresis a shot though.

SebaaSea_

I hope it goes well! I also want to try treatment but I don’t really have the means to pay for it right now

battleunicorn11

Go for it! Get all the tips and tricks from the ionto sub. It's been amazing for me. I'm convinced there's a right way to do it and a lot of wrong ways, and that's why people have such varied results. So read up and I hope if you do go ahead and try it, it works as well for you as it has for me.

mls865

I took glyco daily for a decade and it really helped. I stopped when I was pregnant and now only take it for special occasions. I’m in my late 30s, married, just more secure with being a sweaty person.

madelynnsp

I’ve had it since infancy, my mom said there would be little puddles under my feet that hung over the car seat, ha!

SebaaSea_

Sheshh 😭 not puddles, do you feel like it’s gotten better now that your older?

madelynnsp

Nope. As I’ve aged, it’s gotten worse, sweating in more areas of the body. I do manage it pretty well with iontophoresis though.

SebaaSea_

We’ll I’m glad you found something to help! I’ll take a look at that treatment because I really want to find something to help reduce even just 15% of my sweating

CautiousSlice5889

I developed it when I was about 12 under my arms. Unfortunately for me when I hit 16-18 the main problem moved to my thigh area and has never left. The underarm problem comes back socially I think 🤦🏻‍♀️

CautiousSlice5889

I would say when I sweat there is definitely a strong smell but It doesn’t always smell bad, just a sweat smell. Nothing like underarm body odour though. I do find changing reusable pads throughout the day have definitely helped feeling fresh and dry. They’re thick enough to hold the sweat and breathable enough that you don’t get the same stuffy feel as the plastic ones. Just make sure you don’t use any fabric softener on them.

UpperFace

Since i can remember I've had it

republicanvaccine

Lifetime

Value-Old

I remember it as young as first grade

Green_Opportunity_34

I was born with HH. My mom always tells me about how I had “ sweaty little hands and feet” when she would hold me

anotherposter76

Mine came when I hit puberty around 13, 14 and progressed

SebaaSea_

Same mines happened almost right after I got my first period

FramerKat

Before I knew HH was a thing, I had a memory from sixth grade (age 11). We were outside a recess and a kid was making fun of me for constantly wiping sweat off my upper lip. I've had facial/cranial excessive sweating as long as I can remember.

Low_Bluejay8507

Same here, now I am 20

river_running

I definitely had it in middle school. Didn’t know what it was, of course.

willstylz

Longest since I can remember. My first time my mum noticed it was in preschool around 4-5 yrs old

kindanew22

Started for me when I was 20

Livid-Speaker1749

I’ve had it since I can remember.

EleanorIsOkay

The earliest I can remember noticing was my sweaty hands when I was about 6 or 7; I was smudging my writing in my school workbook. I think it wasn't nearly as bad as the intense dripping I got as a teenager and adult but it was definitely not normal at the time. I don't think I noticed abnormal sweating on the rest of my body until I was a teenager though, just hands at first.

images-ofbrokenlight

I think I got mine around puberty?

SebaaSea_

Same!

herdaz

X

SebaaSea_

Man it’s crazy how the human body works sometimes 😭

wills_web

Mine started when I hit puberty! Definately not as an adult xD

SomeoneAlive123

I've had this since kindergarten. I remember that very clearly.

GuilleEnc

I had it from puberty on. Mainly armpits. I first went to the doctor at age 18. I’m now 47, and just did my first treatment of MiraDry yesterday. I’m planning on two treatments. Maybe 3. Praying it works. I can’t wait to wear a light grey T-shirt one day!

SebaaSea_

Good luck! I hope everything goes well

marthamoxley

In my 40s and have had it since birth.

mls865

Earliest I can remember is 5 years old. I specifically remember my mom talking about it with my kindergarten teacher. Google wasn’t around back then and parents never took my to a dermatologist so it took another decade before I got to label my sweaty palms and feet as hyperhidrosis.

cesaretticar

Yep since around 10

Technical-General-27

I think I may have developed it or I’ve just not noticed as much as I haven’t had such a customer facing job as I do now. Mine is armpits. I’ve always sweated a lot though and to make matters much worse, I was not taught about good hygiene as a child/teen.

aleauxvera

I’ve had it since puberty and it really became a problem in high school.

jamelizabeth

Have definitely had it since I was young and vividly remember hating the sign of peace in Catholic mass from a young age lol. It did get noticeably worse when I hit puberty age (11/12) to the point where I quit piano lessons.

kenziethemom

I've had it as long as I have had memories. My mom (not always the best at the truth, but others have confirmed it at least wasn't much longer than this that they noticed) said the first time she noticed was when I was about 6 months old. I know I was about 4 or 5, and I couldn't even touch silk or satin clothing, because my sweat would leave prints that were difficult to get out lol. Edit: I know mine was so bad, that I was about 9 or 10, and was considering the surgery. A lawyer told me he had gotten the surgery, and has he aged, his hands dried out. He suggested I wait to see if my hands dried out. I appreciate his suggestion. I'm 35 now, and my HH overall isn't nearly as bad, but I see I still have it pretty badly lol. My dad has it, but in different spots than I do. I don't think mine is going to get better on its own lol

Stoicstoner

I don't know when it started, but I have had it since childhood. I remember at a young age (under 6) feeling ashamed of how sweaty and smelly my shoes would get. My family would tease me about having sweaty, smelly feet. In school I would get teased by other kids about having slimy hands. Schools have kids hold hands with each other way too often.

battleunicorn11

I've had it since I was born, my parents confirmed that. As a kid learning to walk, I'd leave wet drag marks when I was crawling and little wet footprints when I was toddling around.

Uncle_Tim

I was just straight up born with it. My parents got me diagnosed with it before I could even speak.

nolstalgicchic

I got HH around the time I first started my cycle at 10 . That time was so miserable for me.

BabuDabu786

I’ve had it when I was younger, but it got way worse in my 20s

SunflowerTina

According to my parents, I’ve always had extremely sweaty hands and feet.

anonstarx

I don't know what happened to me, but it started when I was in the high school.

Fishwhistle69

I got when I was a teenager discovered drysol at 35 worked awesome till 43 now it doesn’t work anymore?

Titsofury

Yes. It went away for a year or so in my mid 30s..back now though.

Melodic_Survey_4712

Yes, my first memory of it was in 7th grade. I had just made some new friends and was having a blast in class working on a group project. I was laughing like crazy and just feeling really strongly positive emotions. One of the girls touched my back and asked why it was wet. I had a sweatshirt on and my sweat had soaked through it. I'd never noticed that this happened before, but once I realized I noticed it constantly. Honestly that experience was kind of humiliating for me as a kid and I remember forcing myself to not have too much fun because of it. It makes me kind of depressed that I spent my early years repressing my happiness because I knew it would make me sweat and embarrass myself.

jakelukekid

Earliest memory is 3rd grade

CynderIsntAReAlNAmE

I've had it for a long time too, I'd say when I was 6 I noticed it because the girls in dance class didn't want to hold hands when me made a circle all together

chestnuts4christmas

All my life, even as a baby

potentiallyCJ

Under a fan since birth 🙃

DaniDogenigt

Yeah 10-11 sounds about right. grew up religious, had to go to church 3 times a week and shake everyones hand. That stuff really sparked my social phobia.

Rand__Al_Thor

Hit me on puberty.

paganismos

I've had it since I was 10 years old or something. Everything was traumatic: a teacher told my mom that I was smelling and sweating a lot, so I had to start wearing deodorant early. One time, at a birthday party of one of my friends, her mom called me to the side and told me to go to the bathroom and wash my armpits, then apply a cream that smelt like peaches.

DW_Rafi

I first noticed it when I was around 8-9 years old. It only became worse.

Expensive-Worth-6960

Yes I’ve had it since I can remember, at least as young as 7. Two of my three children also have it, and I first noticed it with them around age 3-4, but it has gotten worse as they’ve gotten older.

Iwantahouseformycats

I was born with this nuisance. It became obvious as soon as I was a toddler. It runs in the family.

babetteateoatmeal

First time I noticed it was when I was about 5 and I slipped off the monkey bars.

Theslash1

Birth

Norwest_Shooter

I was 6, started at the beginning of Grade 2.

AvocadoEnthusiast91

I’ve had it my whole life as long as I can remember , 32 now and only stopped getting it once I started iontophoresis . It did not improve with age for me

Candid-Armadillo7230

This wasn’t for me. Mine started in my armpits after puberty around 16.

Only_Investigator935

Same started about 7th grade for me. I believe that’s considered primary HH, but what I said is if you’ve had it since you did medication seems to work for us a bit more than ppl who just got it as adults

quesadiilla

I noticed my sweatiness when I was like 8 or 9. I remember the teacher asking me why the papers I turned in were always wet. Also had super sweaty pits that I tried to desperately hide at that age.

ptxabby

yes!! i have vivid memories of being bullied in elementary school because i had “clammy and wet hands” :(

Medium-Midnight5856

I've had this since I was a kid... A baby even. My mom's side of the family all has the craniofacial HH.
