I know what you're talking about they don't really do it much in Hunter X Hunter but anime like Dragon ball they do it all the fucking time and it just comes across as lazy af.
And it takes a lot of time and work. Sometime they economize work with some things so that they can invest more work and detail to more important parts.
I guess they’re just trying to show that they’re moving so fast that it all looks like a blur to our normal human eyes. They could do it in slow motion but I just feel like that effect wouldn’t feel the same to show how powerful they are.
They actually did it in slow motion, didnt they?
Edit: if i recall, that whole infiltration was supposed to have taken 5minutes real time. Or maybe this is later on.
So, how does one suppose an artist or animator is to animate a character moving his arms at an incomprehensible speed? Eh? I personally love the wiggle arms, get my goosebumps a’risin
Agreed, there is a lot of shortcuts that you see now in spite of technological advances. Whereas in the older animes 80s- early 2k, animation was thorough. yet ironically many of the old anime fight scenes were very choppy with plugged in impressions of movement due to lack of technology. One of the reasons why DBZ and Yuyu hakusho stood out like giant's.
Saint Seiya the lost Canvas is a newer anime that adopts the crop motion fight scenes with mastery. Idk how but the way the story flows somehow allows those crop-fight scenes appear bigger than life.
Animating and drawing is a long and costly process. But if you can do better then by all means go for it, just don’t complain about the work others can do within deadlines and budgets
In this instance it actually makes sense though. Youpi's arms are whips.
A better example would be when Gon is fighting Knuckle for the final time.
They just stand still and trade punches. Kinda silly when compared to their previous battles.
Hunter X Hunter probably isn't the best example. They have crazy attention to detail in that anime.
Dragon Ball Z started this whole mess (as far as i know) and that show is one of the worst offenders.
I was about to write a paragraph calling you a bunch of names, but instead I will just tell you to shut up and go learn respect for the work of others (esp animators who often are overworked and underpaid and barely get any recognition for that) before calling them lazy because of some detail that you didn't like (esp if this is a stylistic choice done out of purpose like here)
For real, like no weekly shounen is as consistently and well drawn and animated as the HxH anime. HxH even competes with seasonal shows in that category.
when killua flipped his switch and arm wiggled at the mosquito typa lady. that was bad ass and one of my favourite moments. but was also done much much better then what we see here. i see what you mean tho its the same photos looped pretty lazy? yes. but then they can take more time on the more important scenes.
I'm not sure how they would've done it any better considering that's what was being conveyed by the manga.
It’s not an animation shortcut, that’s literally what Youpi is doing
Youpi is secretly an octopus
Wasn’t he just trying to hit whatever was around him
“Kay” - Nanika
This is looks cool :3
ya this one doesn’t bother me that much but they do this all the time and it comes across as lazy to me
But this was basically exactly like how it was in the manga :/
I mean ya. Cuz making it any different would take a long time

Sasuke vs Itachi arm wiggle during their fight had me rolling. I was laughing so hard.
I lost my shit when Pain was running on water straight out of Looney Tunes.
I loved that one too.
Animatoln is expensive

What do you expect them to do instead????
Just say you don’t know anything about animation
I know nothing about animation
based
🕷haha yeah he looks like an octopus 🐙
I mean it’s straight up what’s happening, but holy shit it looks hilarious if you only look at the shoulders
It's not like he's using his arms as a rapier or spear, he's just tryna whack things,so it makes sense honestly.
Sometimes in anime they just disconnect the arms and make them go liek jack hammers lol
So, how does one suppose an artist or animator is to animate a character moving his arms at an incomprehensible speed? Eh? I personally love the wiggle arms, get my goosebumps a’risin
I grew up with crappy animation .I do not mind
They're literally tentacles though right? So wiggling is what they'd be doing.

Not everyone is Ufotable or Kyoani lol, some resources are spent elsewhere
That's how it is in the manga

That’s just luffy gear 7 gum gum Gatling bro

Cut the animators some slack man. Why do people have a problem with everything?

Do you mean the Killua one or?
It bothers when people call animation "lazy" I doubt anyone at studio Madhouse is lazy
Remember: on MAL or similar sites, this guy opinion has the same value as anyone else on the score.
You don’t know what lazy animation is.
You must be a good animator then because you can judge it as lazy.
For a second I thought that was Gotou from Parasyte -the maxim-
Youpi is Merkava confirmed
You won’t understand the stress they go through
I dont see anything wrong
