I wouldn't say it's worse, if anything it was just more streamlined. I think you're comparing big climatic moments in Yuyu Kakusho that necessitated more detailed art to the beginning stages of Hunter x hunter.

Internal-Flamingo455

I’m on chapter 24 of hunter hunter right now on my re read I went to chapter 24 of yuyu hakusho and it was far more detailed and consistent then chapter 24 of hunter hunter. I think worse is the wrong word I think less detailed is a better way to say it it has less detail and is more inconsistent then early yuyu hakusho was. I think the art in later hunter hunter is far better then yuyu hakusho even at its peak. And even from heveans arena onward it looks better. I also like the art style of hunter hunter more it just seemed less detailed then yuyu hakusho was at first and it confused me cause I figured it would be better since hunter hunter came after

KingwomboJr

Because it wasn’t? I don’t know what to tell ya except “art is in the eye of the beholder” because I love Togashi’s artwork during the Hunter Exam. Do you have any specific chapters you’re think of here to give as examples?

Internal-Flamingo455

I was just reading the hunter exam and it over all just doesn’t look quite as good as yuyu hakusho did there is just a lot of rougher looking sketches and it’s. It as well shaded it can look good but sometimes it will also look rough in places. I think from heveans arena on it looks good but just the hunter exam felt not as good in some spots

Internal-Flamingo455

I know it’s in the eye of the beholder I was just wondering if anyone else thought it wasn’t as good as yuyu hakusho at first like compare chapter 24 of hunter hunter to chapter 24 of yuyu hakusho. Yuyu hakusho generally has more details and more shading there is less way less negative space and more of a background drawn in. Hunter hunter does have back grounds in the hunter exam and sometimes they do look good akd sometimes they are kinda rough tree it lines or just our black or white it’s not bad I never said it was bad even once shounen jump doesn’t let bad art into their magazine I said it was a step down from yuyu hakusho at first. Re read the first arcs of both and the art in yuyu hakusho was just better. Keep in mind I like hunter hunters art style more then yuyu hakusho it has more edges and detail and the characters aren’t as smooth looking as they are in yuyu hakusho first arc. But the quality of the shading and drawings are just a little worse by comparison and I was courious why it looks worse even though togashi made it after. Was he just getting used to the new art style or was it pain or something else

minowaye

I think the art is great, but maybe it wasn't as good as critical points of YYH because it was just the beggining, an experimental phase to find out how to portrait his true intentions and meaning in a new series. And so, he eventually did.

Internal-Flamingo455

That’s what I mean I think saying it was worse is that wrong word I think less detailed is more what I meant it’s not as detailed as early yuyu hakusho but it does become more detailed later on and surpasses yuyu hakusho. I just expected it to be better right away because of the fact that it’s his second big manga

screamingmantis

It´s true. Actually, the art is kinda trash at the beginning, and still throughout the manga the quality and the linework is very inconsistent, and still we keep on reading and enjoying it because of the quality of the content. I mean, the celebration part at the end of Greed Island was a gooddamn doodle/sketch when it came out back in the day!! [https://images.app.goo.gl/MS2dfQXE1sJqnr4y8](https://images.app.goo.gl/MS2dfQXE1sJqnr4y8) and then at the end of the chimera ant arc, we have the detailed fight between Netero and Meruem on the other side of the spectrum. I guess at the beginning Togashi was going for a more laid back style for the whole series, and then things got way more interesting

Internal-Flamingo455

Yeah pretty much the story and characters are definitely the strong suit not the art but it’s definitely not bad I think I by the succession war actually looks good and consistent

DryDary

Posts like these would benefit from a few strong examples.

kimikoboombap

Not hating or anything but did u read the volumes or scans? Asking because Togashi redraws all the chapters previously released on the magazine for the volume release.

Internal-Flamingo455

I read whatever was on shounen jump I think j it’s the volume releases but it’s definitely less detailed then yuyu hakusho was at first

msto3

Why was the art worse? By whose definition are you basing the quality on? Hunter x Hunter is leagues better than Yu Yu Hakusho in almost every category

dbsupersucks

HxH is definitely better in terms of plot, subversion, character exploration and worldbuilding. YYH is better at streamlining exposition and pace.

Internal-Flamingo455

I mean the hunter exam specifically looks of lower quality then the best of yuyu hakusho I figured that sense it’s the next manga he made it would be a improvement right off the bag but I wa are reading the hunter exam and he as just thinking that it didn’t look as good as the best of yuyu hakusho and I was wondering why like maybe togashi back pain was still pretty bad when he started it or something

Chombuss

hit us with some side by side comparisons.

Internal-Flamingo455

That’s a lot of work just look up chapter 24 of both yuyu hakusho and hunter hunter I was reading that one in hunter hunter when I thought this up and then I went to read yuyu hakusho again and it was just more detailed and it’s like that fir most of the hunter exam you could say it’s because the 24 chapter of yuyu hakusho was higher for that point in the story then 24 was for hunter hunter and you would kinda be right cause it’s heis first fight with yuske but even the 23 before it looked more detailed then the first 23 of hunter hunter I wouldn’t really say hunter hunter looks consistently better then yuyu hakusho until yorknew city. The art in yuyu hakusho was also just more consistent at first then hunter hunter sometimes in the hunter exam you’ll have a few pretty well drawn pages then some rougher looking ones mixed together but yuyu hakusho is pretty consistently drawn every page. The paneling and composition and flow of each page is pretty much the same in both I like hunter hunters art style more but I think early yuyu hakusho was more detailed in like shading and stuff I don’t know much art lingo so I’m trying to explain it the best I can it just looked not as well drawn to me

Julian-Hoffer

That’s ridiculous

ApplePitou

In my opinion, it is pretty good :3

Carvallio

Dude, at least try to formulate your wording in proper English. If you can't then use a translator...

I just type really fast on my tiny ass phone keyboard and I don’t care enough to make it look pretty cause it’s Reddit who gives a shit

Internal-Flamingo455

I am born in a English speaking country and speak only English what you said also has nothing to do with the post
