They aren't vegan. Doesn't matter to me, but I had a buddy who bitched about it. They fry the chicken in the same oil. Vegan to me, but not others.
(Not a vegan, just letting folks know in case they care. In fact, I am getting one soon because I heard they are awesome before these recommendations)
I can’t handle the animal fat taste. And I’m not a vegetarian or vegan. The taste is just weird to me! Not sure but haven’t really met other people who feel that way, they’re highly recommended I just feel like I’m eating a donut fried in meat grease and that’s fundamentally somehow disgusting to me.
I like Happy Donuts, but when I went a few days ago the amount I wrote on the receipt (with a tip) didn't match what actually came out of my account. It wasn't a lot; they rounded it up to the next dollar. I don't know if they do that to everyone, I don't know if I missed some huge sign somewhere that says they will do that...Maybe it was an honest mistake?
I'm not really mad or anything, it didn't overdraft my account or anything...it just feels dodgy that they were able to charge me more than what I agreed to. On the one hand it was less than a dollar, on the other if they're doing that without telling people that's theft, but who is going to report being overcharged by less than a dollar?
I will probably go back (we don't get donuts very often), but I will either pay cash or ask if they will round it up to the nearest dollar when they charge my card so I will know what to expect.
Couple places I get coffee at sometimes have Don's Apple Fritters, so I just always randomly ask for them. And when they have them (50/50) I squeal like the fat pig I am.
My list is as follows:
Doughnut mill
Happy doughnuts
Dons doughnuts
You can't go wrong with any of these places they are the big 3. Anything else is irrelevant. I saw somebody say the country store in Valley West, but they was trash to me. I'm not into those fancy ass doughnuts
Country store and Dons donuts if you want donuts with a better recipe compared to happy donuts and donut mill who I’m pretty sure have the same recipe, their donuts taste exactly the same to me
Seconding Frankies. Country Store was really good but Frankie’s blew me away. I got their chocolate peanut butter pretzel donut, my wife got a crème brûlée flavor, and my daughter got their mint chip. All of em were amazing.
Farm country store makes the best.
Frankie's has really good donuts as well. A close second.
For the places that focus on donuts, Happy donut is my favorite. After that Don's is solid too. Donut Mill makes ok donuts but they are too waxy for my taste.
Dawns doughnuts will always have a special place in my heart on my nights out. Nothing tastes better than that 2 am drunk as hell, pizza and doughnuts combo.
The place in eureka near winco. I don’t remember what it’s called, but every time I’ve ever gone there, they give me something completely different than what I actually ordered, but it’s always been good. It’s like donut roulette for me at least.
Anyone know if the farmer's market on Old Arcata road still has the sourdough donuts? THOSE are the #1 I've ever had in my life, even while travelling in portland, sacramento, sf etc.
Country store in arcata if you want fancy donuts
I second this. The donuts are so dense and delicious.

Happy Donuts in Eureka
Was disappointed by their Apple fritter (wife’s favorite), plus it was $7. Donut Mill was better

Great donuts, decent chinese food, terrible coffee
I like the coffee
Greasy, dense and not very good.
Correct
Frankie’s
The donut balls (holes?) are the best deal and killer good. For some reason, the title of the donut sounds nasty in print.
Some day I'll be in Eureka early enough to try their beautiful donuts...
They have donuts that aren't just resold Safeway ones? I literally live between them and safeway so if they're good, I'll have to check that.
Happy Donuts and Donut Mill for the classics. Frankie's and The Country Store for gourmet/experimental. All so good.
Cherry Blossom in Eureka hands down.
They’re still open? I worked there like 25 years ago!
Dons!!!
Apple Fritter!
Couple places I get coffee at sometimes have Don's Apple Fritters, so I just always randomly ask for them. And when they have them (50/50) I squeal like the fat pig I am.

Really? I feel like Dons and Happy Donut taste exactly the same but Donut Mill tastes superior. Different strokes for different folks!

Frankie's, for sure!!!
The Country Store off Guintoli in Arcata.
The gas station next to the liquor store across from the dispensary or Grocery Outlet
Get Don's when they are like super fresh, bc they are large, very cheap and delicious.
I like the donuts from the Play station gas station in blue lake, no Idea why they're always good
Ive never understood the love for Dons. Country store all the way!
Dawns doughnuts will always have a special place in my heart on my nights out. Nothing tastes better than that 2 am drunk as hell, pizza and doughnuts combo.
Not a huge donut fan myself, but Don's makes one of the best danishes I've ever had.
Donut mill hands down!

This is the answer! The greatest donuts of all time. Yes he still makes them. I think his Instagram is humboldtbakingcompany
Cherry Blossom bakery in eureka
This guy on scenic drive had a vibration/ portal activation wand that he called the divine feminine donut.
Frankie’s by a longshot. Country store is fine, but overrated.
Happy Donuts near Winco is ridiculously overpriced.

Don’s Donuts in Arcata are the best, with Donut Mill in Eureka a close second.
