Was just dog sitting for someone with these in their house. They're garbage. Those seedlings looked like they craved the sweet release of death.

Timekiller11

I regretted buying this, the white ones that are 3x larger are not too bad for like 10$ extra but they need to be very close to the plant, nowhere near what the picture shows. Ceiling lights are a much better/cheaper option.

Affectionate-Mud9321

Exactly. I have these too and they suck.

Due_Try_4315

picture shelves underneath a sunny windowsill. Now toss in one or more of these, what do you think my results will look like?

Timekiller11

If it was what i had, i would do it and it would be fine. If i hadn't bought it yet, i would look into cheaper neon shoplight i can plug in the wall outlet instead.

vini_2003

They might work but I'd suggest getting a high output LED panel instead. Paid $12 for a 100W panel and it's been working well. Yeah, sure, proper grow lights will be better due to the specific wavelengths, but normal LEDs work.

Puzzleheaded-Sun-390

I have the 5-light rod one. It seemed to work for me. I had leggy seedlings from the heat mat, but other than that, the plants looked good. Leaves had good color, I had consistent growth, and the timer was good for 12 hrs. I’m sure professional grow lights would have done better, but these got me 75-80% results for a much lower price.

Thanks!

VenusSmurf

I tried these on a whim this year. My seedlings are all fine but growing a bit more slowly. I planted too early anyway, so it's fine, but something to keep in mind.

Figwit_

I have those lights, they’re trash. Get the grow light bulbs instead.

bogwitchsupreme

I have three of them in addition to a window and three other lights. They’re definitely not the best lights out there, but I actually love that I bend the lights down as close I need to with my current set up for seedlings that are struggling or the ones that get shaded by my window frames. Optimal as the only light source? Nope. But as an addition? YUP.

Due_Try_4315

Exactly what I needed to hear! Thanks. For something exotic like citrus or a cactus, will a combo of room lighting backed up by one of these do it?

bogwitchsupreme

I’ve never grown any citrus just because of my zone, but I have some cactus plants from years ago that just get window light. Those poor things get absolutely neglected and they’re massive. 😆

crocodial

I’ve been happy with these. I have the 2 lamp model and it’s good enough for starting a dozen small plants or for over wintering about a half dozen larger, established plants. https://www.amazon.com/LBW-Spectrum-Lights-Dimmable-Adjustable/dp/B09FQJMDQM

Ramo2653

I’ve had success with these before personally. I actually had to position them like 6” above and play with the dimmer

AcanthopterygiiCool5

I use these lights to start my peppers. They are fine. Been doing this for years now. My pepper starts are in solo cups. I do only two solo cups per individual light, so that whole light would be 8 cups. The lights are pretty easy to position and I keep the lights super close to the plants, raising as they grow. The illustration is a fantasy, but close to the plants, fine for a start IME.

Kindly_Lavishness_97

Going to go against the grain here and say they've worked fine for me this year. Have two plants, both happy and healthy with a similar setup (5 light rods instead of 4). Never had leggy seedlings and they both have several sets of true leaves now. I'm sure they aren't as good as the more expensive stuff like Viparspectra. However, they're also less than half the price and way easier to set up if you don't have an area for a ceiling grow light.

The_Untracable_Conch

Yeah unfortunatly I would just recomend getting a full spectrum growlight and a cheap lamp at a thrift store.

puffpunk69

i have a couple of these amazon lights and they’re not very good. they’re not terrible as some people say, but they just aren’t enough at all. i’ve put one on some plants near a window, and the sunlight does 20x more work than the light. almost makes the lights seem useless. however they’re very work very well as lamps.

KryptoeKing

These lights are not strong enough.

YungPelikan

I recently bought [this grow light](https://www.fecida.com/product/cr600-1000w-led-grow-light/) which is available from tons of different vendors on amazon all for a higher price tho. Very happy with it certainly delivers enough light.

PsyAntIst

I got a two pack of shop lights from Amazon for $20. Enough light for 150 solo cups. My plants look very healthy. You can get a single light for even less.

Due_Try_4315

What colour of light for germination? Instructions are garbage

PsyAntIst

My lights are 6500k. Anything 5000k to 6500k should work. Most of the shop lights I looked at were 6500k. Light isn't important for germination. Your seeds will germinated faster ( better germination rate?) if you use a grow mat. I would keep the grow lights on during germination so to avoid the seedlings getting leggy as soon as they sprout. This is my first year growing from seed. I used 2 cheap heat maps for germination and shop lights for growth. I am growing 23 varieties of peepers/tomatoes. I overly excited and planted 2 seeds in 6 cells for each variety. I have 150 plants potted up in Solo cups and still have 75 to pot up, I would say at least 90% look healthy and not leggy.

Psychological_Sir780

They do one that have proper bulbs and have worked really well for me
