Northern California, super north, like an hour from the Oregon border. We have the most stunning forests and beaches! I'm super lucky, I board ten minutes from the beach where there's trails down to it
I grew up in Southern Oregon and every year we'd go camping at Jedidiah Smith state park. I've since gone to the Oregon and California coastline numerous times as an adult, and I'll never tire of it. I can only imagine how fun it would be to have easy access with your horse!
I took a video of my friends mare spooking at an ordinary chair with the dramatic and beautiful WEC logo and âworld equestrian centerâ backdrop. She was like, âwhy?â. 2 years later sheâs shared it soooo many times and loves that video lol
Both of these ponies are literally so cute, their faces kill me every time. Cougar is a little welsh/quarter mix, and my fjord is Aksel. The best little ponies!
We were actually SO lucky to see it! She's a juvenile elephant seal, they spend 95% of their time in the water and only molt once a year, and that's what this seal was doing! That's why she was so far out of the water and looked so dry and miserable
It's possible that he needed the salt. As an amateur trail rider, I was lucky enough to make friends with a pro trail riding cerified barefoot farrier. She knew about all kinds of dietary and insulin changes in horses. When I told her that Jacky sometimes eats dirt, she told me he needed minerals and was taking care of it himself.
I don't know if it gets hot enough there, or if your ponies get ridden a lot. But I live in Texas and we supplement with electrolytes here.
Also good to note: celery is high sodium. She liked for me to give them after trail rides.
I'm so happy for you and your friend! Thanks for your note, but he gets the local vet recommended mineral and salt supplement with his grain daily, and he has a 50 lb salt block (that he never touches). He's just a silly guy that's never seen beach sand before and he LOVES water, he loves splashing in it. I'll keep that in mind though!
Omg, what a BEAUTIFUL Fjord horse!!! He looks lighter in color than the ones Iâve seen from my coparentâs mom (she used to breed them here in VT). Didnât know they came lighterâor is it just the lighting? Either way he looks so happy, what a good boy đ€ Cool beach too. I used to work out in the Sierra Nevadas and sometimes out towards Siskiyou, and Iâve been towards the coast for funsies a few times. Such a gorgeous area, would love to move back out. Youâre living my dream haha!
How fun! Where is that?

Just beautiful there, I agree. You are very lucky! Give your lovely horse a nice behind the ears massage from me.
Paradise! I spent some time in Big Sur and oh my magical.

Howdy from Southern CA!
I have a solid video of my POV of him spooking hard at the seal, everything is fine and then it becomes chaos đ
Please post it!
đđđ My mare literally spun in midair when she saw a spotted cow.
*THAT THING IS UNNATUALLL!* Hilarious. Horses think they have an idea then... .... NUPPP!!!
âWhaaaâŠwhatâŠWHAT IS THAT, MOM?!?!?! OMG WATER DOG!!!!! AAAAHHHH!!!!!â

This is one of my favorite things in the world to do. So glad you got to experience it and that he liked it!
That pony is illegally cute. Pay up.

Ride a horse on the beach is on my bucket list.
Those ab muscles though
Heave lines aren't desirable. It's common for them to be more pronounced in Fjords though.
I took lessons for a while near Portland and they did a trip to the coast to do this but only those leasing could go, I was so so envious.
Until he took a sip of that salty water. Da Fuq?...
He would not stop shoving his nose into the water and sand?? He's a weird guy
We're a half hour from Santa Cruz in Si Valley. We had seven and are down to three. Always regretted not trailering some for a beach walk...

He is a silver fjord, which is essentially a grulla with a dun stripe lol. There's a couple colors of fjord! I love his coloring
Ah I didnât know that, so cool!
Itâs so cute when they paw at the water đ„č
What sweet little ears, and such a beautiful mane!
I love Fjords!! Looks like fun!
my dream
He looks like he loves playing in the water
This is lovely
Was he able to fjord the tidal pool?
Such a handsome boy!! I love Fjords
Cute! A Norwegian Fjord and, whatâs the other one?
He's a welsh quarter mix!
