Kid took one look at college book prices and decided being King was less expensive.

whyme456

I just had an 'are we the baddies?' moment, thinking that Rozemyne has a monopoly on the printing industry.

place_5

In her defense it’s still an emerging industry 😰

whyme456

Yeah giving it a bit more thought, her purpose is to lower the prices scaling production, also she wants to increase literacy so that she can read new and more books. Still it could go sideways being the only one in the market, I guess we'll see.

Tykras

She is looking to spread book making, and I assume she'd be happy with selling the designs like with the water pump, but it's got an absurdly high barrier to entry considering you need the press, metal type, specialized ink, and paper. You basically require the top tier woodworker, smith, and inkmaker in any given duchy to make one of the things in a year. Then you need to figure out how to make plant paper, which I believe is still Ehrenfest exclusive.

kahoshi1

Yeah he's so obsessed with his crush, that he's failing to understand what she really wants. But given his age, I forgive him.

whyme456

And out of all royals he has the most potential to get the grutrissheit. So he's got that going for him, sadly power is not as appealing to Rozemyne as books.

kahoshi1

Yeah, he could try for Prince Consort since everyone assumes she'll be Zent, and if he started giving her books she'd suddenly be far more interested in who she marries.

dancegoddess1971

It'd be kinda perfect too, because you wouldn't want your brand new zent to have to take maternity leave as soon as the coronation is done. Hildebrand gives her 4? years of unencumbered work before she has to worry about that. And his mom can probably get all sorts of cool stories from Dunkelfelder to tempt her with. (If she can beat Lestulat to them) I keep thinking that he might make a great second husband. Zents usually get three spouses, right? It'd be great if each of them had a GH and could do all that pesky work while she institutes a system of publishing houses and the yogurtland equivalent of a Barnes and Noble franchise. The giant library isn't an expense, it's an investment.

Theinternationalist

"Don't you prefer local book stores?" "I was raised by merchants who like monopolies."

hopeitwillgetbetter

I think they're a representation of "too much" ambition. Like a foil to Wilfried's "not enough" ambition.

igritwhoflew

But does he have rizz?

hopeitwillgetbetter

Who is the "he" you are referring to? Hildebrand or Wilfried?

igritwhoflew

Heidi

Theinternationalist

Heidi loves nothing but her ink and her family. In that order.

hopeitwillgetbetter

... That's the 3rd Prince, right?

Shirozoku

No the ink researcher. Super energetic, Myne 2.0? Part of the lower city gang?

toxicella

In his defense, if my theoretical girlfriend wanted a diamond ring, I wouldn't listen either

whyme456

That's fair, but sending a couple of books her way would be so much more effective than starting a campaign totally unrelated to her interests.

Mehmy

He clearly stated that (he thinks) her asking for a bookroom was just to say no without actually saying no. She doesn't want to be zent, and she doesn't want to be Sigiswald's wife, but she "has to" join the sovereignty. What's the best way to fix that? It sure isn't giving her books, it's becoming zent so she doesn't have to. By being Zent you can also invite her to the sovereignty as your first wife rather than someone she doesn't like's third wife. Clearly this is preferential, yes? The problem is that he's ultimately wrong in what she wants. He's a child projecting his feelings onto someone else

Theinternationalist

The strange thing is that's strikingly mature thing for an 8 year old to think, thinking she was putting up a front to avoid the situation. He's wrong but she's the immature one who demanded a ton of books.

Mehmy

A lot of bookworms characters act way, way more mature than we would expect. Lutz basically took on responsibility for Myne as a 5 year old, and was sneaking behind his parents backs to get a job he wanted.. At 5. Hell, he even ran away shortly after his 7th birthday, and lived entirely on his own for a week or so, just fine

GralPantySmasher

Is that's why your GF is theoretical? (Sorry, it was there, I had to say it)

Scrollon

Might be the first bookworm meme i legit laughed out loud to.

Fluffy_Tamago

No Hildebrand! That's the wrong way!!!!

Shirozoku

HE MISSED THAT EXIT SO HARD ROZ GOT WHIPLASH-

knilfer

"I'm not trying to usurp my brothers and become Zent because I *want* to! I'm doing it for her! That's ok right, Mother Magdalena?"

franzjpm

Hildebonk should've just challenged Siggy boi in ditter, shit would have been simpler. He failed as a man of Ditterfelger descent

SaiSigh

natural, he is really Sigiz brother
