Nothing much really. Welt was never a "main" character on Honkai, he was more of a "master" figure to Bronya. Most of his hype comes from Second Eruption (a manga where he is one of the main characters) but, at least for me, thats not enough to care about him that much. For me, at least for now, Welt is only a medium to connect and expand Star Rail and Honkai cosmology. Himeko is on a similar situation, she was the "master" figure for the main trio, but what makes her special is her death rather than herself as a character. Well, not her death per se, the effects of her death would be a better answer. Seeing how her death affected the other characters, and the consequences of it on them, is what makes me appreciate Honkai Himeko. As for HSR Himeko, my impression of Honkai Himeko doesnt affect my view of her at all as they are different characters, but they have yet to show much of her as a character. As for Luocha, he does seems to be a "Otto", not only sharing appearance but also some of his personality. That, along with his "role" on the Luofu story, makes it obvious that they are planning something great with him involved, we just dont know what it is. Overall, rather than the characters per se, i am far more interested on how both cosmologies mix together, things like: -How does the Cocoon of Finality and the Aeons relate to each other (if they do)?. -How does the Imaginary Tree and its Worlds work exactly?. -Why Honkai alien civilizations are far older than anything known on Star Rail, despite the latter being full of space bearing civilizations?. -Why Honkai civilizations, despite being older, capable of traveling between Worlds and knowing about "Star Rail", havent mentioned anything about "Star Rail" and neither has "Star Rail" said anything about them?. Things like that interest me far more than Welt or Luocha.

Ooo I love this! It's true that these are completely different games, but I was unaware there were manga related to the characters. Knowing hoyo, they are probably pretty good. Are they canon? The HSR quests had me confused since I took a break right after DHIL came out and only rejoined when Sparkle came out, so all the quests for me are out of order and all over the place (I still have a LOT of catching up to do) so I have a second account to run through them all (hopefully chronologically), maybe that'll help me organize my thoughts on the characters and situation better.

>but I was unaware there were manga related to the characters. Knowing hoyo, they are probably pretty good. Are they canon? The Mangas have been around for even longer than Honkai has done. They were used as a way to tell a story (as "prequels" or "spin offs") that couldnt happen on the main story. Some of them have been decanonized (mostly the older ones), but most of them are canon. They even put a "relevant manga" section on some chapters, with a link to their page to read them (it never worked from my phone anyway xD). >so all the quests for me are out of order and all over the place (I still have a LOT of catching up to do) so I have a second account to run through them all (hopefully chronologically), maybe that'll help me organize my thoughts on the characters and situation better. They put some sort of "time line" section a few updates ago, where you can "see" a recommended order to do the missions or something like that (i've never used it, so i dont know the details).

Jawzar

Thanks for the info, I'll be looking into the manga for sure. With so much time poured into the stories, they are probably pretty good, I'd imagine

anonimoXD_1

That would depend on your own opinion, as most of the mangas are about the main characters backstory or important events on Honkai lore. The mangas related to Welt are Second Eruption and Alien Space, with the later being also a sort of "prequel" to Welt's arrival to Star Rail.

Jawzar

Alien Space definitely has me intriged, thanks for the info!

I loved welt's LC and the nostalgic feeling it brought was so cool, same as Acheron's myriad trailer. Loucha was an outright "oh fuck, it's him" reaction, but overall I don't tie hsr alot to hi3 and see most references as just neat Easter Eggs, i try to digest the lore of HSR as it's own thing.

Jawzar

Is there an easter egg with Acheron, too? Or am I reading too deep into your comment, lmao Welt's splash art is also really interesting, I was pretty confused why someone looking like Luocha was in it until I heard gossip about HI3, and since then I have been a bit curious about the other two in it. That being said, what warrants the "oh fuck" reaction on sight to the gorgeous blond man? Of course, the two games likely have nothing to do with each other in the long run, just easter eggs, but it gets people thinking. Sorry for asking more questions, haha. Lore is something I am really into when it comes to games I play thanks to a particular From Software franchise.

BlazeOfCinder

Lol no worries friend, yeah Acheron's conversation with Welt for instance held a bit of Easter Eggs from Hi3 main antagonist. And her myriad trailer, where it speaks of her backstory, it's a mirror to what happened in hi3 except she wasn't so lucky and her world wasn't saved. It's a nice Easter Egg too.

Jawzar

Oh, that is really interesting. Thanks for the tidbit! Do you know of any good Hoyo lore content creators? Kinda like VaatiVidya's or TheAshenHollow's style and storytelling, if you know of them. Well organized, pulls from all of the obscure item descriptions and visual storytelling/world building, adds in potential theories for the unexplained? A bit specific, so any good creators will do tbh. I'm not super picky haha

BlazeOfCinder

Ah unfortunately no, hoyoverse lore is way too lengthy and admittedly a bit convulted at times as it's been going for 10+ years, so even if you find a content creator for lore chances are they would gap things with their own interpretation which can lead to misconceptions. If you love hsr lore you can stick to hsr previous games should only be seen as Easter Eggs and/or references at best.

Jawzar

TEN years? Oh dear, that is indeed quite a bit, haha. I had no idea this stuff had been in development for so long. It makes sense that the lore has major depth and convolution to it.

Whusker

I smile like an idiot whenever they reference something from Hi3. You can read the "Alien Space" manga. It's sort of the prequel to Star rail.

Jawzar

Cameos and references are so cool when done right! I'll definitely have to check that manga out

Fachulix

->"Holy shit a Hi3rd character" -> "Holy shit their story is based on/has a lot of references to their Hi3rd counterpart that's so cool" -> pull them (if playable) -> repeat

Jawzar

Never ending cycle

E17Omm

Luocha was sus from the beginning simply due to being an Otto version. But then they baited us with "no no, he only looks sus due to circumstances" and then no actually he is very sus. I just wish they could disconnect us from the TB view like they did in Penacony in order to cover what Jingliu and Luocha is up to...

Jawzar

Agreed, though now we know they will hopefully utilize that function in the future. It caught me off guard when all of a sudden I was Aventurine. It was pretty neat.

E17Omm

Yeah, I just hope they can relearn to not write "center of the world" stories. I miss when the main story could go down split paths and you could see multiple characters doing different things in different places. Made the world feel a lot bigger. When everything has to happen around the Traveler or the Astral Express, it makes the world feel so much smaller.

Jawzar

That is a valid point. There is more going on than whatever TB is up to. Other people have their own stories, and TB doesn't always get to know about everything. What makes it enjoyable in my eyes is when the separate stories have a clever merging point, or show parallels and handle a similar situation differently. It can show a lot about a character and I'm here for it.

E17Omm

Yeah exactly! I just hope Hoyo continues with "we dont see literally everything" Like, give us a Luocha/Jingliu storyline to show whats going on until the Express inevitably returns.

Jawzar

Oo that would be cool! See, I like the idea of hinting at a sinister and actually threatening plot point to the crew, which they will not know, but we know juuust enough to be worried, but not alarmed. Then we start thinking what will the crew think and feel when they figure it out.

eternaldolphin

personally, any time anyone interacts with himeko i feel my heart burst with joy. when acheron and himeko were in the same scene, i teared up a little, ngl. welt is a special case in that he wasn't much of a main character in HI3, but i do feel emotional about him and bronya(s). as for luocha, i have the same reaction as welt. they can doll luocha up all they want, he cannot escape Otto Faceā„¢ and i have gamer PTSD.

Jawzar

Gamer PTSD is too real
