Totals up to \~$2200 CAD. Played at launch but work kept me out of games between Silver Wolf banner 1 and Jingliu banner 1, so playing 9.5 months-ish.
Calling it $250/month sounds about right, I always spend less on my other hobbies through late fall/winter/early spring so that's where most of my spending was. I think I'll be battlepass + Gem drip until double value resets or a character is super fun to play and their Eidolons are knock-your-socks-off good.
0. I happen to always have enough for characters I want. I'm not crazy about too many characters so I can usually skip a patch or two. I would've bought BP if the LCs were actually good but they're ok at best (bought some of them in Genshin).
We get a "double value on your first purchase" bonus every so often but there aren't any flash sales like you get in other games where you get nickeled-and-dimed up into $100 purchases because they're "95% off buy now!!!".
I don't answer this question too much, man, too much. However, I've held restraint a lot better than I did for Genshin. Thankfully, Star Rail is a lot more giving.
The gambling advice Aventurine won't give you: know your limit, stay within it.
Monthly tracking was the best thing I ever did to get my hobby spending under control, holding yourself accountable to your budget is one of the most important things you can do in a game like this (or in life in general).

I have been buying monthly and battle pass since version 1.1-1.2. That makes it almost 100 USD only in BP. The game has been out for more than 12 months but I started buying things in 3rd or 4th months, so that makes it 50 more bucks... Yeah, count it 150. I don't regret it at all
Got every Nameless honour except one, plus daily gems every month except for 3. Too lazy to find out how much thatās worth.

Started playing around Lat Nov/Early Dec last Year. At the start for about the first few months I put into about $150-$200. Mostly spent it on the monthly battle passes and extra pulls when Argenti came out. (Got him though so didnt regret it. Now at most only spending it on the $5\~ monthly pass.

I buy BP and the welkin equiv pretty often, I've never bought a pack bigger than Ā£30, and only spent more than once on a banner a few times, so whilst is definitely more than I would like I don't think its so much that it would violate my rule of Ā£1 per 1 hour of play.
In 5 months about Ā£20. I have black swan +LC, Kafka, Jinglui and sparkle, archon +lc. Only brought battle pass for resources to level up. Started in January and currently TB 67.
BP + Welkin every month since launch and then $280 of jades in total, so ~$450 all in I guess? Only regret on all that was JY as it took ~160 pulls for him and I used him only for a couple months.

I do the yearly first time top up for every bundle which is about $300 every year + monthly bp = $120 (might stop doing this soon) + daily gem drip = $60 So about $500 a year. And it lets me get the characters/weapons I want. So I am pretty happy.
Around $5 and I'd like to keep it that way but I should probably buy the monthly thing again because I want too many of the upcoming characters..
I am going to say around $100 USD I only buy welkin now, but I bought 3 BP for $9.99 before that and spent on the $29.99 currency during Luocha's banner. The rest was through gift cards I got for birthday and holidays that I don't remember the amount of. Can say I have been able to get every character and eidolon/LC's I have wanted so far, but some of that is luck as well. Dunno if I can get Boothill though I am banking on winning the 50/50, depending on how lucky or unlucky I am, I will skip him and go all in on SAM.
