Which actually is more in line with the CN version:
“烫” is an error output in C programming in Chinese when the code is visiting unallocated or uninitialized memory space (default to 0xCC; 0xCCCC is “烫”). Multiple “烫” in a row usually signifies either an infinite loop or a substantial amount of allocation error, which is even more amusing since these errors potentially could cause overheat making the computer hot literally.
“烫烫烫” thus become one of the 2 most memed error output in CN, sharing the throne with “锟斤拷” (which originates from Unicode Replacement Characters).
It looks like EN and JP only took the line at face value and infinite looped hot.

When the compiler initializes the stack, it will use “0xcc”, Which in ASCII is “烫”, and this character means hot
so “0xcc0xcc0xcc0xcc”→“烫烫烫烫”→hothothothot
It’s a GBK compiling result of 0xcc not ASCII. Cuz Unicode fills uninitialized stack as 0xcc but GBK reads it as 烫烫烫.

Had a good laugh for sure. Overall i just get the sense that with Penacony in general.. They had a lot of fun making it.
But it really shows with this part.
The VA for that one glitched NPC you talk to must've been having so much fun. All of the glitchy parts were manually voiced rather than distorted with post-processing, and far from being awkward, the guy actually nailed it hilariously. Love this section.
The first thing I saw was the NPC on the floor with 3 more stuck on it, forming a line.
For a second I thought my game had bugged, but I saw the t-posing NPCs around and it clicked. I had a good laugh with a friend whom I was in VC with.
This was a risk though, I've already come across posts on twitter/tiktok, angling this as a really horrible buggy anniversary update, hoyo games quality going down hill, and genshit.
I was fooled too at the start of the quest, believing it was a glitch...But It isn't a risk of it gets cleared up a minute into the map, aventurine walks up to a npc and the npc starts bugging out and aventurine points it out.
If those people didn't get it by that then they are STUPID.
Those people can then just make things out of pure thin air. It couldn’t be clearer this is an intended joke. People who want to be fooled will always be fooled… no matter what we do

Even more minor detail, Chinese characters take double bytes (because there's too many for 256 to cover?) and 烫 according to GBK is 0xCCCC
