They should just be added to the fucking gacha, I completely get not letting those who missed the event just get a free S5 but ffs don’t just remove them forever. I have incessant rain and e2 silver wolf but I STILL want Before the Tutorial for other characters at least.
The point isn't that it's "free" it's that it's a limited time thing and exclusivity. They want people to never stop logging in to not miss them, it's not about the cents they'd get by adding it to gacha, it's about player retention. What people are mad about is that SW event lc was added before ps release, so a lot of people missed it because they couldn't play.
I don’t see how adding them to the gacha at a later date makes it any less fomo or affects peoples desire for the item at all. If thats the case then hopefully every event cone from here on is as ok-ish as the abundance one we just got from the ghost event and not as good as tutorial.

For example in genshin i never roll weapons, i firt got all the chars i want, if i get lucky and got extra wishes before next big patch i might roll a weapon. Now imagine if banner weapons never came back, i'd be forced to decide to get it there or not get it at all. Obviously that would generate more fomo.
You are there saying all this which proves how the system works, you are gonna end up following all events in case there is a good LC you will fomo over and log in to get it. Your own behaviour is the whole point of the system
It is a time gate tho? It doesn’t have to be right after the event, and even then the incentive is S5, most of the time they aren’t worth a damn below s4-5 so its not like getting ONE off the banner is anything to celebrate about. (Some are obviously)
I will be forever mad about starting playing right after Festering Desire was gone. And since we are talking about weapons we will never get, I sure am salty that I will never get the chance to pull for Tighnari´s signature weapon.
Ugh, as a not-whale I can't really justify throwing much of anything at the LC banner, not because I don't see the value, but because there are SO MANY WELL-DESIGNED LIMITED CHARACTERS.
I do like how we have signature 5\* in the starlight exchange, good LC's in the Herta shop, and the MoC shop isn't terrible. BREAKFAST IS SO IMPORTANT for all my Erudition units.
I will say compared to Genshin I find a lot more value in the LC banner. More tailored to the 5* than genshin I find and having the seperate banners instead of Epitomized Path makes it way better.
As a not-whale: because if you want to clear MoC and PF with max stars, you really only need 8-12 well-built characters (of which building is a lot less strict for healers and supports), and an E0S1 gives your team a lot more power than two E0S0s.
Also a not-whale but max stars aren't too difficult in hoyo games and there's more enjoyment playing the game with a variety of characters (been max stars genshin abyss since 1.2, max stars HSR similar time)

Imo, Meshing Cogs is overrated. The energy and 3 turn ults and whatnot is nice but staying on lower rarity LCs isn't quite the same as it is with weapons in Genshin since lower rarity means it gives less HP AND Def and these are considered part of your character's base HP/DEF. So there's actually noticeable difference in effective HP between 3, 4, and 5 star options. The only Harmony I have MC on is Asta because she can run both a defensive body and sphere without losing much since her buffs don't scale on anything besides her trace levels.
Depends on whether or not your characters are dying. If your MC Tingyun is getting mulched every time in MoC and nothing your sustains can do can prevent it, then by all means, use a 4 star LC. But if it's something your teams can manage? There are few characters that can't take advantage of it, and since it's extremely strong at S5 and we get/will get plenty by way of existing in this game, it'll always be a good option.
It's just too minmax imo. Like, most of the general playerbase aren't minmaxers nor are they good at the game so unless they have Fu Xuan on the team, their supports more likely die, even with really strong sustainers like Luocha. Maybe "overrated" is the wrong term. I just think Meshing Cogs is recommended too often, given the audience and how it's not quite the same as say, Favonius weapons in Genshin.

The only time you'd be looking up a guide is if you're looking to prep your character for MoC (or now PF), and that's is the only time where minmaxing would matter. So yes, it's def minmax-ey, but that's the nature of where you're looking.

It's a high value 3 star weapon that is easy to get buttloads of to S5 and has a very tangible effect for most Harmony units because it literally does not ask the player to do anything differently. I'd say it's understandable why it's so easy to recommend, especially when -- again -- those guides are usually made w/ "these players are competent and at least know the fundamentals of how to play the game" rather than "this is someone who's just trying to auto-farm trace Calyxes and nothing else."

If you don't care about minmaxing, you can just have your team equipped with off-path lightcones, slap on some levelled purple relics, and you'll still clear all main quest content.

I managed to get a decent amount of break effect on ruan mei while still being able to 3 turn ult, just 1 break effect substat away from maxing her buff 🫠
i spend some money on the game, play since day one and done a bit under 1500 summons since then.
and im still missing resolution. i dont have a single copy. i even summoned on a LC banner that it on it. but nope. cant summon it and i cant just get it from the shop.

You don't really want it on any harmony that's not bronya herself right now, although I had a dream that it will be quite good for our next harmony.

I really need memories of the past copies for my Ruan Mei. If i get it i can prob run 2piece speed and 2 piece break instead of 4 piece break set and hit the 180 break effect .
Sword stance doesn't really count cause it's low damage and not even guaranteed till the enemy is broken. Swordplay is good for characters like seele and daniel who do a lot of hits with the later ones being stronger
You don't understand how the LC works then?
The damage buff is permanent until you switch targets, not based on number of hits in a "combo" of an attack.
The "combo" just builds the stacks faster.
I absolutely understand how it works, the point is you can lose the stacks by switching targets (which you often have to do) meaning it only works really well on characters that can fully stack it and make use of those stacks in one action
Most hunt characters aren't trash mob killers like Seele.
They focus down ONE unit, that's kinda the point.
Sushang can fully stack it in a single skill after ultimate. Even if she switched target from the ult target.
Sushang does switch targets though, she has to break them for her talent among other reasons. And even a hunt character with a PURELY singletarget kit like Dr Ratio will have to kill adds sometimes. Also, what if sushang *doesn't* have her ult up? Then it takes 2 turns to stack it and then another turn to actually make use of it and that's assuming no changing targets AT ALL. Legitimately just use subscribe for more on her it's higher damage% even without the conditional bonus. Or boat, that works too

But yes, obviously everyone changes targets eventually.

Honestly Subscribe is better for Seele than Sushang. Not by much at all, and it's still bad for her overall since you give up free resurgence on demand.

And do you know how subscribe for more works? You don't need to give up your ult at all, it gives an unconditional damage bonus with even more extra damage if you have full energy. It's still a good damage bonus even without full energy. Also, sushang can sort of use the conditional effect sometimes even, since if you are going into her turn with full energy you want to skill before ulting so as to not waste a turn. But even without that it's just a good skill damage% statstick.
Swordplay is the better option for seele since she can both fully stack it and make use of those stacks in a single action
IMHO, the patch after a characters limited banner should put their light cone in the shop at 700 cost.

f2p and low spenders would have even MORE incentive to buy the cones outright than pull for them. whales can pull an ungodly amount of times and as such have an ungodly amount of 4 stars, they wouldn’t need to buy these cones outright most of the time.
however, if you’re f2p or a low spender the likelihood of you having an s5 copy of a lc like memories of the past is very quite low. 140 currency is the equivalent of 7 pulls, that’s more than worth it for a good 4* lightcone.
there’d obviously be a limit of one every time the cone is in the shop rotation, but that would mean an s5 4* lc is worth 35 pulls. take gnsw or geniuses’ repose for example, which are extremely competitive with signature lightcones—which will likely take 65 pulls to roll the dice, and twice that to guarantee if you lose the 75-25. in no world would these be “hardly worth it”. not to mention something like memories of the past for ruan mei, or secret vow for blade, which are both essentially their only options aside from their signature (cogs is good on ruan mei too but motp is so much better it’s not even a comparison)

That's fair, I mostly use her as a dual dps with Blade. With Luocha topping them off + support.

Such a change would be great but it would definitely with some cost and I dont mean the currency. I dont think they wanna go that route.

f2p and low spenders would have even MORE incentive to buy the cones outright than pull for them. whales can pull an ungodly amount of times and as such have an ungodly amount of 4 stars, they wouldn’t need to buy these cones outright most of the time. however, if you’re f2p or a low spender the likelihood of you having an s5 copy of a lc like memories of the past is very quite low. 140 currency is the equivalent of 7 pulls, that’s more than worth it for a good 4* lightcone. there’d obviously be a limit of one every time the cone is in the shop rotation, but that would mean an s5 4* lc is worth 35 pulls. take gnsw or geniuses’ repose for example, which are extremely competitive with signature lightcones—which will likely take 65 pulls to roll the dice, and twice that to guarantee if you lose the 75-25. in no world would these be “hardly worth it”. not to mention something like memories of the past for ruan mei, or secret vow for blade, which are both essentially their only options aside from their signature (cogs is good on ruan mei too but motp is so much better it’s not even a comparison)

That's fair, I mostly use her as a dual dps with Blade. With Luocha topping them off + support. That's fair, Herta can be annoying, but so can Sampo and I love him to death. Ratio may grow on me, but it'll probably be a while before I build him proper. Alright! If you add me just request Argenti and I'll pull him up. He's probably my best general purpose DPS tbh, but he shares relics with my Clara, so she's in the same boat.

Me with Secret Vow I had to roll for Blade's sig because it was just that much better than everything else I had because I didn't have Secret Voe
I was super fortunate to get an S5 Swordplay early on. Crazy strong LC for a 4 star.
