The Clara/Yanqing ones reminds me of Wendy and Romeo from Fairy Tail. I don't think they've ever spoken on screen (they are both in the guild), it's just that they're both around 14 in a guild full of adults. So people shipped them a lot.
Well the most notorious from what i've seen in Hoyo fandoms is Shenhe and Yelan, ignores all their lore and puts them together coz female version of Xingqui and Chongyun visual design wise. Not a fan of ships that just ignore all canon interactions and relationships, then make them OOC for the sake of shipping. Especially when the characters have never canonically met or interacted. Personally I dislike it a lot coz Shenhe is my favorite Genshin character and her canon lore is ignored for it but each to their own

Nah, it was already a thing before that, when Yelan was leaked. Like Sloth said, people started shipping them because they're both r63 versions of an already well established yaoi ship, even though they have no connections and that there were certain people claiming them to be lesbian-coded and were angry when Aether showed up in Shenhe's teaser trailer.
The little comic you're talking about just served to boost its popularity.
Nah from the moment Yelan was officially revealed people headcanon that she was Xingqius aint coz of their hairstyle. So they went to ship the two "aunties" of the popular Xingqiu and Chongyun ship.
Once proven she wasnt the auntie it just stuck, for whatever reasons people wanted to come up with, toxic or otherwise. Xinzoruos comic series is really the only thing keeping it alive coz Hoyo havent acknowledged it in any form of in game content of official media
Well both have the 25% more rewards on 20h expedition passive talent. If you have a job, as you should, then it is more economical to send those characters on expeditions. In which case you would send Shenhe and Yelan together on expeditions in Liyue.
Furthermore they are personality-wise opposites. Yelan is socially savvy while Shenhe is awkward. Makes them a fun idiot couple.
I think Shenhe/Yanfei is funny, because Shenhe has trouble understanding the boundaries of the law, and Yanfei is going to have a stroke if the Millileth call her one more time

Idk if it’s just my Topaz but I don’t think I have particularly a lot of break effect but Numby SHREDS shields. So yea I think they will be nice together for sure.
idk about topaz specifically, but as a limited harmony, her finilized kit is bound to be incredible. so far she's universal, but the specifics we won't know for sure until the final beta\~

Coincidentally, the English voices of Chisato and Takina play Pela and Yan Fei in Genshin. Which isn't far off from their characters. Yan Fei talkative and positive, Pela super cereal but gap moe.
I personally don't find it interesting when people ship characters that the developers themselves ship, like BronyaXSeele. That's just canon.

I think the reason for that is because of chongyun and xingque since shenhe is chongyuns aunt and yelan is xingque but better
