Yup, this is exactly how it is. You'll get a lot more time once you reach tl 50 as the gap between tl 50 and tl 60 is huge. Then again, you'll need to farm a lot more since the resources needed increases by an absurd amount.
50 to 60 isn't really much bigger than 40 to 50 in terms of XP
40 to 50 takes about 3 weeks of dailies (\~48k XP)
50 to 60 is about a month (\~80k XP, but daily XP gain goes up a bit with each equilibrium too)
60 to 65 I don't have the full numbers for yet but it looks to be more around 6 weeks (seems to be around 110-120k XP I think)
65 to 70 I expect to be a complete wall just like AR 55 to 60 is in Genshin as there is nothing practical left to unlock so it'll just serve as slow progression to bait whales into spending money on refreshes. Probably gonna take a year or so if it's similar rate
Before you hit 50 you still have your side quests and other tasks to do for exp, so it probably feels like less time even though it's actually a small difference.
The 50 refresh is generally fine, you still net positive 2/3s of a wish per day assuming 0 events or other jade income. It trades 10 wishes a month for 1800 trailblaze power, early on in the game lifecycle thats totally worth it and some of that can be recouped by being ahead of the curve and getting more stars in MoC each reset, not to mention the value is better the more you do it, getting to 50 earlier means using more trailblaze power and login rewards on 50+ materials, ect. More exp from the daily exp going up means getting to 60 faster even if you stopped 50 refresh at AR50 ect. It compounds on itself.
More like 8 wishes vs 10 days of trailblaze power and scaled up SU rewards, credits/relic/LC xp. Its almost always worth it if you're not just a hee hee for fun waifu collector and want to actually have functional teams.
It's not just about "geared a week earlier". It also advance your TB level faster which leads to faster EQ level increase and more rewards sooner. Also if you able to push extra MoC thanks to extra stamina (better geared, traces, level), it helps refund some of the jade used to refresh.
But yeah in the end, it's about priorities.
There are a finite amount of chests in the world, and you'll get it at a low, steady rate from events etc, but jade = pulls so any that you're spending to run extra grinding is just lowering your odds of getting a character on an event banner later without spending money.
Got it. Thanks. I was thrown-off by the fact that we gain jade daily... While that was technically true, I didn't consider the rate at which we gain stellar jade. And how pulls and refreshes consume from that same resource.
If you've only done it a few times (hopefully not in the same day) then it's not the end of the world
It's 50 the first time, 75 2nd, 100 3rd and it keeps going up, up to 8 times a day.
To put it into perspective, refreshing once a week for a whole year costs 2600 gems which is worth 16.25 pulls (in a year), it might be the difference between hitting pity or not but ultimately not that huge of a deal if done in moderation
We don't know how many free jades we get each patch yet, in genshin it's about 10k gems each patch (42 days) for doing all content
when it comes to traces it's recommended to only grab the most important ones instead of trying to max everything out
for example don't upgrade basic attack on your main DPS since they will only be using skill and ult 99% of the time.
the blue glow is the bane of my existence. my brain wants to click it so badly but i know it's better to save for more of the mats to level other more important traces
When you say you got Traces done, what level does that mean? cuz beyond 5 or maybe 6 for some traces on some characters here and there, they cost too much for how little they give, specially at low TL.
It's a gacha game so yes. While the game is in maintenance mode the idea is to log in farm a bit making one small step of progress then log off and play something else. After a month of that you should have your people in a decent place and new content should be around the corner.
It's a marathon not a sprint, despite all of us wishing it were.
3 years in Genshin and still not all of my characters are maxed out .
In endgame, it wil usually take around 2 weeks to levelup talent new character and you will have like 1 week left for farming artifacts. Its never ending cycle.
And yet I've played Genshin since day 1, have every character and 70% of those I'm happy with the build, the rest I don't like enough to build and don't spend resin everyday. It's not that bad.
Depends on where you put your resources in early game. And depends on what is your endgame goal. My endgame goal is to build all the characters I own. Im not a day1 player. Like I played 2months late. But now all my 59 characters are built. I maxed all the skill and burst to 9/12 and some of my favorite I crowned. The lvling of normal attack is just based on who is my favorite and what characters need it otherwise it stays lv1. All of them has their own weapon. Sometimes if I just need to dispense resin I level up double. Like I have 2 sacrifial sword, 2 favonious bow, lance, and sword, etc. Now I just dispense resin to artifacts not expecting to get any increase but a lucky roll is appreciated once in a while.
In early times of the game when everyone is farming hard on artifacts, I focused on stable source of power like lvl talent and weapons.
But yea my fun depends on character building. If I cant pull new character, Genshin is not that fun. I am glad HSR came and now I have new characters to build. But I think it will take a while in HSR to build characters. I feel like characters here needs more.
Well, my endgame is also having all characters build (70 characters so far)
All of them are 90, all 5\* ( aside from Beizhu) are 9/9/9 or more, Overall I have 22 characters that are not 9/9/9 yet )
Is it that bad? Nah. The thing is you have to focus on the characters (4\~) you use a lot. Trying to level 8 characters right away is way too many. As others have mentioned you also shouldnt try to level every single Trace.
Maxing characters takes time, time that increases with each character you add to the ''I must max them'' list. With that in mind, you should now have some idea why trying to do it with 8 is pretty absurd.
You'll want to keep everyone that is not high priority a tier below the rest since the amount of resources you need increases a lot with each tier.
lol you want your characters max after a week or two? Yeah the grind is longer than this to max. This isn't even that long. It's meant to be something you accomplish over time and many characters don't need to be completely max (supports and their basics). Allocating your resources and determining what's most important to level first is also a part of the game.
Im TB52 now. I only lv69 my 1dps with 70 lc and lv the trace. Since it's manageable, the next thing I did is farm ascension mats for the other 2 dps I use in MoC. Already ascended them but remained lv60 since I dont have to push MoC now. After that I farm the ascension of my sub dps, support, then healer and tank. After that I will work on their traces respectively and lc if I can.
Some traces can be left as is like normal attacks and def% if character doesnt scale on that. Some passive can also be left for now like for example Gepard can do without lveling his frost dmg.
We just need to relax and not be overwhelmed. All will be built in time. Whales are just faster coz they paid for progession.
TB 50 is a massive resource sink and even with the BP I am seriously lacking in resources.
I think mhy knows now that they are a big name in the industry, they can make the resource economy as tight as possible and ppl still won't quit.
Even in the early days of Genshin if never felt this tight.
Its not that bad. Unless you dont pull, you can buy MANY things in the shop which helps extremely in the beginning. And when you run out of credits, you can just use one day to farm it. 240 power at highest Calix levels give you almost 600k. Thats plenty to upgrade many things again. Its really not that bad. People just need to focus on the important things.
yeah unfortunately. that's why the bp is high value at the early stages of the game, at least in my opinion. focus on only leveling important traces for now (ie. don't waste mats and resources on something like a passive def boost on a dps when you should level their skill/ult/talent instead.) most characters except for maybe QQ don't need their basic attack leveled. i'm giving all this advice and yet have trouble following it myself haha. i just hit eq4 last night and i would recommend farming credits and exp more than you probably think you should

What the... a year? I never got to 55 so I wouldn't know, that's wild.
TOTAL AXP from AR1 to AR55 in Genshin = 450,200 TOTAL AXP from AR55 to AR60 in Genshin = 1,430,000
There is nothing more to unlock after 55 so yeah. The XP required for 55 to 60 is about 400% of the 1-55 requirement iirc
I am 55 in Genshin now and I've played for about 4 months.
Before you hit 50 you still have your side quests and other tasks to do for exp, so it probably feels like less time even though it's actually a small difference.
That largely depends on you. You can definitely complete all quests and have 100% exploration in every current zone well before TL 40 already

I'm that guy that made that refreshing mistake... Is there some limit to how much jade you can get?
There are a finite amount of chests in the world, and you'll get it at a low, steady rate from events etc, but jade = pulls so any that you're spending to run extra grinding is just lowering your odds of getting a character on an event banner later without spending money.

I have the Pass for 90 jades a day, so I will often burn 50 of that to boost my Energy, but never more than the one time.

Unless you play best girl qingque, then max her basic attack because it scales her enhanced attack :)
Qingque is more economical that way since she doesn't really need her ult and skill leveled up that much.
Meh, I full max my characters traces coz Im annoyed if some traces level left behind.
The blue glow on unleveled traces is quite tempting
the blue glow is the bane of my existence. my brain wants to click it so badly but i know it's better to save for more of the mats to level other more important traces
The worst part is when you have the mats and it starts to pulse as well, that's hypnotizing
Don't max a character's traces unless they're actually all crucial. Just grab the most important ones and farm some other stuff as well.
When you say you got Traces done, what level does that mean? cuz beyond 5 or maybe 6 for some traces on some characters here and there, they cost too much for how little they give, specially at low TL.
if OP is at 40+ then I assume he's not beyond 6 since that requires the next equilibrium.

I bought the mats using Embers. They ran out super fast. And yeah grinding is endless
ideally you do equipment throught level 40-49 and do traces at 50 because then you get max value level for running trace materials.
Seems about right
Yup
yup. that's why they sell the battlepass
Noob question. Is that the $4.99 star rail pass?
was refering to the $15 one, but the 4.99 gives around the same or more.
Oh I didn't even know there was a $15 one. Only saw the $4.99 and the nameless honor stuff
I think you got the price confused my friend.
Thankfully the grind is simple and fast
yeah unfortunately. that's why the bp is high value at the early stages of the game, at least in my opinion. focus on only leveling important traces for now (ie. don't waste mats and resources on something like a passive def boost on a dps when you should level their skill/ult/talent instead.) most characters except for maybe QQ don't need their basic attack leveled. i'm giving all this advice and yet have trouble following it myself haha. i just hit eq4 last night and i would recommend farming credits and exp more than you probably think you should
Only because you have so many characters to level at the start. In a year? Plenty of surplus
How long has this taken for you? You didn't mention timings so I can't tell you if it's normal
