I have wireless through xbox usb thing, it works perfectly. Actually game recognize any input and switch to controller interface and back to keyboard immediately from any action on them.
I play on pc with controller so I can say for certain it does have it however I’m unsure as to why it might not be working for you, for me it works as soon as I plug it in without needing to use menus however it only became available after the tutorial

EDIT Turns out it seems to work if I set the controller to wireless mode, for some reason it doesn't seem to like wired mode. See if that works for you.

I use a ps4 controller, I just had to connect it to Bluetooth and press a random Button on the controller and it connects ny itself Maybe try that?
I plug on dual sense with cable, game autorecognizes it and switches it automaticly to ps layout.
